I have my tree and I'm maki g connections but I could use some assistance with the professionals to verify some lines.

I’ve been researching then found connection to Henry the IV the Good King of France it was traced back through an ancestor o My Grandmother’s side, but had a few issues with His son Gaston’s children, and the link I think I’ve found the issue but still unsure.
I’m glad he explained why it was so dire for them to retrieve the bag. They would have been impoverished if they lost their life Savings.
It seems like a minor decision, but that bag may have had everything!
Yes -- it wasn't a trivial or foolish decision by any means.
They missed their one chance at life here in US. But they probably thought they could make it back.
How do they know that they went back for her handbag .Where would you be able to find out something like that.

I saw the name “Daniel Buckley” on that ship’s manifest of passengers from Ireland. Buckley survived and wrote a wrenching song on board the Titanic called “Sweet King Williamstown” that brought me to tears the first time I heard it sung by Irish folklorist Mick Moloney. Look it up, he and that song survived the Titanic. It’s extraordinary to know a song written on board that ill fated ship and to hear it sung now.
Here is the late, great Andy M. Stewart singing this beautiful heartbreaking song that Daniel Buckley wrote on board the Titanic, “Sweet King Williamstown”:

I have been an avid Genealogist long before it became a fad... 40 years now.
I've done SO much research, that all my lines are traced back to the early 1700s...many lines to the 1500s, with portraits, photos, diary, gravestones and cemeteries found, clothing, letters, postcards...far too much for a scrapbook. I have boxes!
This week, I made contact with my 2nd cousin, once removed. My G. Uncle had a daughter, who in turn produced this woman's father.
I found my G. Uncles and wife's burial plot and tombstones, in addition to all their children and kinfolk.
Here's the most unbelievable thing! This part of our family left England in 1840..went to Ontario Canada...and settled there- all but my Gr.Uncle...HE decided to go West, across the plains- in the 1850s...to chase gold during the gold rush (it just so happens MY name is the same as the one person who discovered gold at Sutters Mill, starting the gold rush!)

For YEARS, I visited this same cemetary to enjoy my lunch...it had the only greenery in the commercial development area where I worked...And I would SIT in the bench only 30 feet from his grave!!
AND I NEVER KNEW!! Until last year, 7 years after I moved back across the country...😳😳😳😳😳
His house address was on the census..and I searched Zillow. I would pass by this house weekly, and often admired it...many beautiful homes on the street, but this one, I really liked for some reason? 😀

I have ancestry but it’s not clear cut when I don’t have the dates for birth or even my great grandparents names and birthdates. I have tracked a few things but I get uncertain quickly and abandon it. Any tips?

@@lisafowler3606 Any aunts/uncles or children of them, who might have been given info, you can ask?
You could look on your birth certificate for your parents' official names and then apply for an extract or birth certificate for them, which will give names of THEIR parents. Often their age, maybe profession, maybe address at time. I am not American, so don't know what you do get. If you get any for their parents birth certificates, you might get back to a birth date of pre 1925, for the male. If he was born pre 1925, he may have served in the military, in WW2, so you could apply for military records. You might get some good description of him, there.
Often height, hair and eye colour, physical health. education, tattoos...
Google their names in newspaper records. Might find them mentioned in court, etc.
My great-uncle went down on the Titanic. He was accompanied by a newlywed couple of the same last name who decided to stay together and go down together.

One decision can truly change the course for many.
It's quite possible that it had all their money, heirlooms or important documents in it and that it was things they just couldn't lose. And some people thought that the ship's sinking wasn't as serious as it was because they had been told it was an unsinkable, safe ship

I love how they connect the dots and somehow rewrite a forgotten history.
My grandfather was so secretive he died in the 80s and to this day my father have no idea where his father grew up and honestly he didn't care.
Me in the other hand I love history i want to know especially after i found out he was a WWII veteran and he was taken by force by the colonisation army, i recently found out he was newly married at the time to his second wife, so i wonder how was it like to go to a war he didn't want to be a part of and on top of that his kids know him as a peaceful introverted man who didn't like conflicts, he had one friend who remind alive until recently but he suffered from dementia.
I don't believe I could trace my family history because most of the records were destroyed in the 60s but I really wish for a miracle.
Have you tracked the 1st marriage info of 1st wife? Even if you aren't related to her, he may have put true early details of his early life in 1st marriage, that he kept secret in his 2nd marriage.
@@georgielancaster1356 She was born in the 1900s and apparently she didn't have any kids, the second wife is still alive but it was arranged marriage and didn't last long I did find out lately that he was an orphan by the age of 9 and sadly he lived basically by himself from house to house all of the people he lived with were family but none of them kept him or made themselves home. It's a sad story because he passed away leaving his kids in the same situation except this time they were lucky enough to have an older brother who was 24 at the time and he took care of them he worked hard and got a home two years later and raised them to successful men. The origin story is sad but his kids and grandkids lived good enough to make him proud.
My great uncle (David Smith) was a Captain for the White Star Steamship Line in the 1920s and 1930s. His wife Bessie, was my great aunt her sister Lucille was in the silent movie Cleopatra with Theda Barra. I inherited three things from Bessie; they were all from her husband David a dressing table (oak with beveled glass mirror, a collection of 3 small water color paintings of her husbands ship in Havana harbor, and a precious item that had been presented to David by a Head of state I can't go into here. The item was mounted in a 9K gold ring that he wore for the rest of his life.

Love the stories, watch finding your roots on pbs...we can learn ,not only about our ancestries,,but our history,from old countries,to new countries..would that be taught in high schools,to bring all of our people together and not about race.. we hav so much to learn about each other,from childhood on...I was so blessed. ,my dad was a career soldier,so I lived in many states,many schools,plus with relatives..aunt and uncle, maternal grparents..well grounded,with many kids from all over the world,brought here by parents,military and not.......wouldn't change my growing up days for ,anything, had to make new friends all over again....even got to see them in different states..wonders of the military....

I wish I could go on the show, but I am Canadian. My Great Grandmother and Grandfather on my Maternal Grandfather's side were passengers on the Carpathian, when they rescued the survivors. (They were supposed to be on the Titanic, but G-Gran was pregnant with my grandpa, so they took a later boat instead) She was a Walcott, one of the 5 Pedigreed families in England. We have a private family book on the history of the family, the lineage going back to 910AD and our deep connections to the Royal Houses. In 1982, my grandfather was 47th in line for the throne when he passed. Its a fascinating family that I am very proud of.
I can’t off the top of my head remember precisely when but I certainly do remember being in a museum in my city where they literally had a # of the official items that were found on the bottom of the ocean floor & were brought up to be seen, I also heard some of the actual tapings of the voices that were on the Titanic before it sunk. In this museum there were absolutely no pictures allowed! You could just look at the items that were found & think about what they might have been thinking of. Dishes from the “dining room hall” were also on display; those that for whatever reason weren’t broken. It was pretty close to beyond belief what your eyes were actually looking at! Also a while back I was on a virtual tour of the titanic & man that was something else! I was literally getting dizzy 😵💫 and yet I was sitting in my LVRM just watching this video! I might be able to pull it up again & get dizzy again too. Who knows. There sure seems to be an immense amount of people connected to someone who was on the Titanic or Carpathia ship 🚢meant to have saved them all! What a tragic tragic loss of life! Ugh 😩

There is a book where they gathered every person's accounts. It might of been in there.
I’ve been trying to trace my Scottish Boyd ancestors for years now. It’s a very complicated process.
Even though we have Titanic the film about the ship sinking but it would be interesting to see what happened while the ship was being built and after and the various people giving court testimonies.
Videos of the Titanic's construction are fairly common. The hearings on both sides of the Atlantic are a different story.

I've been working on my tree on Ancestry for 10yrs. It's become very difficult to move forward so I explored hiring a professional Genealogist, but the cost is way beyond what my social security will support. The odd thing is that the problem starts with my father. I can't even prove he's biological father. All but one of my half siblings are dead. Only my half sister by a different father is still alive.

@@writeatease3689 We can even go further with the French-Normans who built all the castles, or the Anglo-Saxons. Robert the Bruce was even a French Norman descendant, and not truly Scottish. I had always heard my family was from England, but I didn't know that it meant all kinds of things until I researched my family and the area's history to about William the Conqueror's time. So, ya we can get real picky, if we like =)

Do they do this type of thing in the states? I can't get past my great grandparents, Mikolaj Pawleczko(Nicholas Pavlechko) and Paraska Wolkowitz(Priscilla), that is now modern day Ukraine in the early 1900s. I have his brothers name, Roman Stachun, that doesn't match in the least and I have her sisters, Anastasia Teodorivna Olckiovich, information from when she came over about 10yrs after her sister, my great grandmother. Even the information I have for there parents is suspect. I don't know were to look. My cousin that passed recently had been searching for over 50 years trying to put there information together didn't get past them. We can't even trace my great grandmother after she came to America until she married my great grandfather. It's really hard being a genealogy nerd and not being able to get past this brickwall!

It would have been unlikely for them to travel alone. They might have had a friend with them that survived or made friends with some of the other Irish passengers on board that did survive.
