Exactly Trigger777 The Aviva is packed to capacity for Ireland rugby international and Leinster Heiniken cup games at €80+ a ticket. Despite the recession there is a market for football in Ireland. I dont condone the prices for tickets to be anything the way they are at present and I agree with the argument Liam, Eamo n John are making. However I think Bill is spot on wih the reason for the stadium being so sparcely full. Money was even less plenty in the 1980s but we still pulled in big crowds.

Real football supporters in Ireland go out and support their local team, they don't sit on the couch or barstool and gaze at the telly. The real supporters weren't there because they spent their money in Inchicore, Phibsboro, Drumcondra etc...

If the stadium is half full because there isn't the money around to fill it, how does the club sustain itself? I'm assuming television rights, sponsorship deals etc. But balancing that with the running costs of a club, and that most clubs (nearly all) show debts on their books (Arsenal an exception - I'm a fan of Brady and Arsenal), what's happening? Are we going to see clubs go bankrupt or are ticket prices going to come down along with salaries and all running costs? Where is this leading to and how are they staying in business?
People would think nothing of blowing it on drink and junk food and the like the fact is if we had a great team to watch people would cut back on crap to buy a Ticket the Team just does not inspire , last night it was full because we qualified suddenly people find the bobs .

For example, you don't say Deutschland unless you are speaking German. You say Germany. The term Eire is often used by certain sections of the British class to belittle Ireland by implying that we are not really a proper State. So only say Eire if you are speaking Irish in future! Just wanted to clear that up for you!

ticket prices for Aviva have been hugely over priced since it opened,thats why it cant be filled.i think it was done to get a raise out of Brady.
