      Scotland is becoming the progressive beacon and cycling is one of the manifestations of that. Bute has these stations too. A long way from Tasmania though.

    Having walked this route I have always wanted to cycle it also. Glad to hear the section north of Grantown has been upgraded to allow for bikes.

    Excellent to see my local area featured and so glad to hear it being described correctly as the North East and not "Highland".
    There also some purpose built great mountain bike trails at Glenlivet and Fochabers. And loads of forest trails and the old drover roads too.

      I almost called it “Highland” and was swiftly corrected - although frankly I ought to have known better.
      Good to know about the bike trails - I’ll check them out next time I’m across.

      @@alwaysanotheradventure Technically you were in the Highlands up by Grantown, and Nethybridge but doon in Moray it's North East 😉
      But that's not important, I'm so glad you came up and enjoyed the trail and hope more people come as the area tends to be forgotten despite all its glorious scenery and wonderful different terrains.

    Another excellent, informative video. Cycling, beautiful scenery, local history, what’s not to like. Walking/hiking really seems to have taken off on tv recently, Michael Portillo etc, so I’m very surprised the quality of the Always another adventure channel doesn’t get many thousands more views.

      Thanks - it's a massive help when people who like the channel share the videos on YT, Insta and FB

    Love the Spayside Way but I think it’s a must to do it from Newtonmore as so much to see.

      You're right Alison, it is. The Moray Coastal Trail is a bit more challenging, but the Cycle Trail is very straight forward too, as is Dava Way

      I'm a fan of everything Assos when it comes to pads - shorts and tights. Folk who live in really cold climes might have some more thermal ideas.

    Great set of videos (as always!) Simon. The section after Grantown that being upgraded, is that between Cromdale and Cragganmore? Planning doing the ‘triangle’ early next year.

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  2 года назад +1

      Hi David - glad you like them. The section which the Speyside Way website still lists as not being suitable for cycling is between Ballindalloch and Cromdale. To make that work, if I recall correctly, we had to come off a little early.
      It took a while to get 'official' estimate for completion of the upgrade work. The estimate is March 2022 but might slip.

    Hi Simon. Is that a Fenix watch you're wearing (or similar)? If so, how do you get on with it?

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  2 года назад +1

      Yes Sean, it's the 745. It's OK, not brilliant. Mainly used for running and swimming, rarely on the bike. Garmin's own worst enemy is its software which, every now and again, throws a wobble and needs to be set up again from scratch.

      @@alwaysanotheradventure Hi Simon, yes I've experienced similar frustrations with the Edge 810 I cycled with for about 8 years or so. Don't know how I stuck with it so long really..., thanks, - like the look of your adventure here round the Moray Gravel, good stuff.

      Sadly no. A few low res shots were cached on my phone which controls the drone. I bought another and returned to shoot scenics a few weeks later.
