Hi, I'm one of the Homarr maintainers. Thanks for making a video about Homarr. Regarding performance, this is something that we wanted to improve for a long time and are finally doing so in 1.0. It is a complete rewrite of the application and will solve many issues. All data should load almost instantly and seemlessly. Stay tuned and thanks again for the feedback
That's awesome! I love it, hope it didn't come across like I didn't. I've been using it for weeks at this point and it's great. Glad to hear the performance will be improved and excited to see what's to come!
Great to see comments from the developer(s) themselves, cos if anyone can speak to the content of a review, it's them. Personally, I've tried a number of dashboards but am really looking forward to taking Homarr for a metaphorical spin!
very good!! i am re-configuring my it/lan and have the intention of adding dashboard for my proxmox and docker stuff. so this came right on spot! Thanks a lot!!👍
I noticed a couple of times now that I would have liked to see an introduction and/or motivation part for some of your videos. In this particular instance, why not briefly explain what people use such dashboards for? I can infer quite a bit from what you are saying about a particular subject, but I think it would be nice to get an introduction as well. If you are concerned that the video you actually wanted to make will get too long by adding an introduction / motivation, perhaps create other videos that fulfil that role and point to them? I understood if your response were "You wouldn't ask, if you actually needed the technology" (in this case a dashboard), and that would be fair enough, but sometimes people don't know they want something they have never heard about. Great work, regardless!
Thanks for the feedback! I have always had a hard time with intro's, mainly because I feel like I lose the audience right away and they click off the video, but I might just be doing it poorly - definitely something I will look to improve and add to future videos. Thank you!
@@WunderTechTutorials Thank you for all the great content! Perhaps a short prelude at the beginning, where you tell people that they can use a chapter mark to get to the meat of the video, would allow those inclined to skip the intro/motivation. Chapter marks in general are quite useful, for instance if one wants to revisit a certain part and/or skip forward to the next section, which must be why you are using them already. :)
Hello, thanks for this tutorial ! I do have a question, what is the Docker Server widget ? I mean, is this related to portainer or to the server on wich docker is running ?
one thing super annoying about Homarr is it can't automatically scale/reorder itself when swapping between client screen size/resolution, manually reordering layout multiple times is not fun :/
Homepage is awesome! I just like that this is all done through the GUI without needing config files. I used Homer which is config-based as well and it was great too!
It's not unfortunately, though that would be cool! It's an application called Lube Logger which is used for tracking automobile records, but I generally use it for small engines (lawn mower, etc).
Is anyone having issues with Dash. ? I installed the container and can even access it from outside the network but homarr says it can't reach it and asks me if I'm sure I have the latest version. 😭
Homarr is certainly easier to manage and maintain than Dashy or Homer, but for the life of me I can't get the System Health widget to work with Proxmox, or the Dashdot widget to display info properly from any source! I'm on "latest" 0.15.3, are you using a dev build that maybe has more features?
That's weird - no network restrictions, right? For Proxmox, I know the API key has to be in a specific format. Are you following the instructions exactly? Also, no, I am using the latest version.
@@WunderTechTutorials yeah, it's weird, no network restrictions, the online ping indicator on the app is green and the API key is correct and showing as defined and green in the app integration! The monitor data showed up randomly once, for about 10 secs never to return again, always just a blank tile. It's pretty frustration, because every thing else apart works fine and more than enough for my dashboard needs.
I had issues with the API token initially, but I was using the wrong format. This is the format I used that works, but it depends what you named everything (I just used the same names the documentation had): api@pam!homarr=
@@WunderTechTutorials Thank's Frank, yeah, that's how I was entering it, and all set up correctly in Proxmox permissions, it was always showing as being accepted and in green and connecting in the app tile. Anyway, I did actually manage to get it working properly and staying up this morning. Your video inspired me to give it another go. I duplicated the original Proxmox app tile, and then messed around with the http and other settings, changing one thing in each duplication as I went on until, it all suddenly popped up in the System health tile! The thing that got it working in the end? Was entering the app name in settings as PROXMOX rather than Proxmox! I have absolutely no idea why, but that's what eventually did it! Couldn't believe it, didn't know to laugh, cry or strangle myself! hahahahaha. Cheers.
I really like the plethora of features in Homarr but ... I just really dislike the look. All the icons scrambled together with dashboards and widgets and icons. Only for transparency and clean look I will stick to "Homepage".
am in exactly the same boat.... I hated how long it took me to script out homepage, but damn it looks so much more modern and slick than homarr. What I wouldn't give for a drag-n-drop option for widget rows and columns though haha
Hi, maintainer of Homarr here. We offer a setting to configure the transparency - does this not behave like you'd expect? I'd love to hear more about your opinions and how we could improve Homarr. Thank you. Cheers
I think Homarr is absolutely terrible. The integration part is an utter mess: instead of binding the integration with the widget they are entirely disconnected. And even worse: the nice dashboard you display here only looks nice until you change the browser size, then everything visually implodes and is a terrible mess. Instead of scaling app buttons it tries to rearrange everything which in 100% of the cases looks like garbage.

Just because of dedication like this I'm staying with homarr specially now that a version 1.0 will come out hopefully soon 😂
Nice tutorial. One remark; The background picture part isn't working, unfortunately.
This was fun, noticed I could add any URL for a background image.

great video thanks. i can't wait for my zimaboard to arrive put on my jellyfin, sonarr, radarr, bazarr, requestrr and homarr and etc on it

I think that this is exactly what i was looking for. excellent video Frank! thanks!
Thanks for watching, Avi!
Great vid I might try it instead of heimdall. I’m not fan of the dash boards that need you to edit the yaml or config files.

just what I was looking for... thx

homepage offers more flexibility and customization than Homarr ( sounds like the arr stack)

Out of curiosity, what's the 'Logger' app you are using? If it's something to manage logs from all docker services I think I would be interested 😃

How is it easier than Dashy? In Dashy you can also add entries via the web.

spoiler alert: it isnt. homepage is.
