This was the very first song I heard on the radio when we landed in Miami as we moved from Queens to Florida. I thought to myself "where in the hell am I." BUT...that weekend I went to a club and it all made sense 😁
Bruh 😂 I’m from Queens too and my cousin lived in West Palm .. I had the same experience.. soon as I landed my cousin came to pick me up playing a megamix of all the bootie poppin songs lol … i was like wtf but once we got to her block party it made perfect sense
I was LITERALLY just watching this video and wondering where these ladies are now.. and then I scroll down to see your comment. Awesome! I hope everything is wonderfully well with you and SUPER thanks for commenting! Out of curiosity.. would you happen to know if the other ladies were cheerleaders, at the time? Like.. for a (pro) basketball team?
@@nilespeshay1734 Thank you for your kind words. I am still around. Dancing and teaching dance. I have an old school RUclips dance channel. I'm 55 now, time has flown by. Great times. We were all Raiders cheerleaders and they chose us for this "basketball PG" version of the video. Still friends with all the girls today. Unfortunately, one of the ladies has passed away. 😪But I drove my own car, wore my own dress in this video, but had the time of my life. Again, I appreciate your well wishes. And blessing rain down upon you forever. 😀
@@candidlycamille Good morning. I’m in LA. 😊 No public classes right now. I teach dance at a gym and at USC for the kids there. But I do teach virtual as well. Private lessons and special event and pop up dances classes.
This was the original version of the video (it seems tame nowadays, but I guess in the early 90s it was too risqué): ruclips.net/video/GQ8cjn26NZE/видео.html
They hired them for a more tame version to get it played on TV. 📺 I’m the leading lady and these are my sister-friends; we were all LA Raiderettes together. It was a blast. I also enjoy the non-pg version! 💃🏽🔥🔥🔥

Takes me back to middle school when I ordered it on "The Box" multiple times. I STILL don't understand a SINGLE word he says in the song........and I ABSOLUTELY love it 👍👍👍 still way better than today's rap artists
@@jenniferjohnson3505 did you grow up in Florida? I grew up in Cali and ain't a school in this state that probably let their cheerleaders dance to this, but all my family is from Florida and it seems like this would be part of the rotation back then 👍
I hated music from the southeast back in the 90! Now this type of song mutated into pop rap music and when Grammys and music awards! I don't miss none of these song from this era! 😩😖😤🤮🔥💨
I'm from the dirty dirty and this is what we grew up on right along with 95 South and 69 Boyz! I didn't like the video at all it didn't go with the song and now I wish I never seen the video! I forgot how bad the video was!🤣
To the outside eye, I’d agree. But they hired me (the leading lady) and my sisters (LA Raiderette cheerleaders) for this “cleaner” version, to get that TV airplay. Trust me, we could DANCE (and still can, even in our 50’s now 🥰). This is what was asked of us and we had a blast and it’s still the jam 🎶🎵 I like the original too.
Colorism is alive and well in this video. It's so disgusting. They made sure not to include any dark skinned women in it🙄. I'm saying this as a light skinned woman myself who is so disappointed with the lack of fair treatment of melanated women in music videos. Dark skin is beautiful, and I wish more people realized and understood that💯
