I wouldn't be surprised if it were. Older sims games were so good at adding them subtly. (Especially with the Goths slightly referencing the Addams Family)
When I saw the Flynn family I kinda squealed. Because I had read all the Unfortunate Events books and they are definitely based off of the Boulevards. Personally, I prefer the Netflix series, but I think that is because I read the books. The series is closer to the books than the movie, and much more preferred by the author because of that. Also I've been playing in Midnight Hollow and I actually poked around in the Doe family and decided, for my play through, that they offed the former family, buried the bodies in the basement and filled it up. Does it have holes? Yea probably but, I like it.
One other reference I noticed is the last name Bishop.... a rank of nobility, just like count. Wonder if there's anything to that? edit: Bishop is a church rank, not a noble title, but I think the similarity is still interesting
both names imply authority, but not significant power like a duke or an archbishop. definitely seems deliberate, and it would make sense since its clear the old sims writing teams put importance in the names of premade sims considering how many are puns or play-on-words.
You should DEFINITELY watch the Netflix series! The extra time that a two episodes per book scheme gives was perfect for the aura of the books. Give it a try!
The sims 2 had great details. The sims 3 have fantastic backstories. The sims 4 has a fantastic build mode. If EA would just smart up they realize combining those 3 elements would make a fantastic money-maker.
This family is obviously inspired from the Beaudelaire orphans , by Lemony Snicket! One of my favorite books and also series on Netflix 😍😍 i love the sims creator so much because of that ahahag
Okay, after watching the video, i find it quite odd that the eldest Flynn sister is dating Joseph doe. Honestly, we established Joseph as kinda sus, and for people who read my comment on the Doe lore video, I consider the Doe daughter the only normal one due to her neurotic trait. Maybe us Joseph is a murderer, maybe hes gonna try... lets say plant a Maggy tree
As soon as I heard their bio I immediately thought of A Series of Unfortunate Events. I've read the books, seen the movie, and watched the entire tv series about 10 times.
I watched both movie and Netflix series and I love both of them! First time I watched, I couldn't finish the whole season for some reason, but after 6 months or something, I tried again and I enjoyed a lot! It doesn't have much gothic aesthetic like movie had, but Netflix involves more characters, worlds, and stories. I highly recommend to try again, like I did.
im really depressed lately, i spent all day sleeping because i dont even wanna be awake rn. but thank u for this video, because i have been hoping for new sims 3 lore. this video is the best thing im gonna watch all day
I dunno if you're still feeling down, and I dunno if either of these recs will actually appeal to you, but pleasant sims has good ts2, 3, and 4 content (and a stream archive channel, so there is even more to watch!), i find that plumbella is also always a joy to watch, and not a sims related rec (mostly, anyway), but callmekevin is a great channel (especially for chaos, and he does have a sims series as well). Anyway hope you are doing better!
Definitely try the Netflix series again!! Especially that it's now completed in it's entirety. I have been a fan of the series since I was a kid and really enjoyed both the movie and the Netflix show.
I think the mystery is supposed to be easy to crack, because the frequent murder was never the big mystery in A Series of Unfortunate Events. It's always Count Olaf, he's a serial killer obsessed with getting the Baudelaire fortune. The actual mysteries always got revealed bit by bit, tiny mentions in each book piling up to make you go back and try to find them.
I only saw the Netflix TV show, and I will say it gets pretty good as the episodes progress. I will say give it another shot since the 2004 film covers books 1-4 (I think; but with the TV show, each book covers 2 episodes each so you get a more detailed storyline.
The Netflix series is very good - far more accurate than the film. However, I love the film’s creepy and gothic vibe. So I honestly enjoy both adaptations
The show is a much better telling than the first movie and doesn’t feel so rush and it’s similar to the books in a great way. If anything it’s totally a must watch
@@crispus.corvus No, that’s not true, there are many Sims who only have three or four traits even as teens or adults. Ryan Atkins & Erika Talon of Bridgeport, for example.
*Hears the bio* The Bauldelaires!!! Please try to watch the show again, it follows the books more closely and ties everything together better than the film’s attempt. Although I admit the film did Mr. Poe much better than the show so that’s a plus.
Sounds a lot like Series of Unfortunate Events. Three rich orphans (a baby, a brother and an older sister) living with their sketchy long lost “uncle” in a creepy old house after their parents “died” in a “tragic accident”.
I think anything with Neil Patrick Harris is worth watching. He's an incredibly talented actor... legend-wait-for-it-dary. I say you should definitely give The Series of Unfortunate Events, starring NPH, a try, if you haven't done so already.
A lot of it is probably community research, wikis and the like. One person might miss references, but hundreds of people will eventually notice everything. You use someone else's comment or post about it as a starting point and dig in from there.
Your voice is very calming, and I sometimes listen your videos like bedtime stories and it helps me fall asleep. that is not to say the content is boring, quite the opposite. they are very enjoyable. I just have problems falling to sleep thanks to my annoyingly overactive mind and need something to focus on and your lore stories help me 🙂
Love this family from Midnight Hollow, probably because I'm a huge fan of 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events'. You should definitely try the Netflix-Series again. In my opinion it's even better than the movie. Also most of the community lots in Midnight Hollow have alliterations as names (two words starting with the same letter) which is a reference to the book titles of 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' :)
I finished the A Series of Unfortunate Events series on Netflix when it came out. Keep watching it, it stays true to the Jim Carey film but since it's a series it takes long to finish but if you loved the Jim Carey Adaptation you will like this Netflix Series one.
The Netflix series is soooooo good! A fun watch and book-accurate, although I can see where the first episode or so might be off-putting. It’s incredibly well-paced, well-acted, well-scripted, and is a lore hunter’s dream with its heavier emphasis on the background lore of the VFD!
I LOVED the A Series of Unfortunate Events film from 2004 too! The aesthetic and entire vibe of the film is so interesting.. I used to watch it all the time. I was quite disappointed that they never made a follow-up film.. I read a few of the books. I never did watch the Netflix series though.

I have a guess why the Uncle is named Edmund and the other Jackson Bishop Edmund means protector of the inheritence Bishop means protector And Jackson or Jack comes from Jacob which means also protector
I have no idea if this has anything to do with it, but in Sims 3 for console, theres a sim named Morgan Flynn who has a mother named Marilyn Flynn who is dead at the start of the game... Maybe theres no connection but since that was the only version of sims 3 i ever played, it reminded me of Morgan.
Hi, a wonderful Video again! I just want to tell you you're doing an amazing job and thank you for giving us sims content everyone needs. Thank you for your work! I hope, we will hear a lot more from you in the future.
The Netflix show is SO GOOD, it follows the books perfectly and it's really well done, I liked the movie but now that ive seen the show, I get why book fans hated it. It oversimplified the story to fit into one movie, when it could've worked way better as a franchise. Anyways, I know Neil's performance seems cringy at first glance, but it fits the story perfectly, I swear! If you like the craziness and theatrics of the movie give it another shot! Oh and don't skip the opening songs!! They change every couple episodes and give you a preview of what is gonna happen, plus they are hilarious every time!
Oh no, PLEEEEEASE read the books. V.F.D. is *SO* much more than "volunteer fire department". Additionally, the children go through an entire series of relatives, several of which are wonderful inventors who meet water based deaths at the hands of Count Olaf.
Im here so fast the uncle still had the last name Bishop
I'm in bits 😂😂😂😂😂😂

this screams series of unfortunate events, the reference is quite obvious to those familiar with the series.
And the books :D

Midnight Hollow has more unique backstories then the Sims 4 in total.
