ABOUT SPEAKER
Venerable Jaganātha is an Australian-born monk who took full ordination in Myanmar within the Pa-Auk forest tradition in 2007. The rains-residence period (July-Oct) of 2014 marks his 8th year as a fully-ordained monk.
Ven Jag started off his Buddhist education in earnest at Santi Forest Monastery in NSW Australia with Venerable Sujato as his teacher in July of 2005. Whilst at Santi, he developed a keen interest in the study of Suttas (the Buddha’s discourses) and Vinaya (monastic discipline given by the Buddha).
After spending some time there he travelled to Burma to practice within the Pa-Auk forest tradition starting off with a three month retreat with Sayalay Dipankara, a 10-precept nun within the Pa-Auk tradition. After finishing the retreat he went on to Pa-Auk Forest Monastery in the south of Burma to pursue his interest in meditation, and to take full ordination.
Ven Jag is currently residing in Newbury Buddhist Monastery (NBM) in Victoria.

While registered as a Buddhist not-for-profit association, Buddhist Society of Victoria (BSV) welcome members of all backgrounds and religions.
Located in Melbourne, our East Malvern centre hosts programs that guide members on meditation; as well as practical Buddhist teachings for kids, teenagers, and adults.
Our spiritual advisor is Ajahn Brahm, the Abbot of Bodhinyana Monastery located in Western Australia.
