1. Make sure you download the App on your phone and REGISTER your device with the serial number. I could only then use my phone to scan and print.
2. I still can’t scan on my laptop. It has been a maddening process! 😅 Even spent an hour online with Canon tech support. He had no idea. I wound up downloading the free Microsoft Scanner App on my own and pinned it to my toolbar! Scanned right away!! 😃🙏🎉

I have downloaded the Canon phone app and it keeps saying that I am not registered but I also did that and it says thanks for registering. I can print from my laptop but not my phone. I have no idea on how to scan without using the phone app and it won't let me use the phone app.
