My least fav song is Anpanman so I can relate to your friend. This song though is awesome. It's fun but the lyrics have substance. Not that Anpanman doesn't have substance cuz it does, it's just that Anpanman is too cutesy and kpopy to me.
Interesting take on Anpanman I didn't feel it was cutesy me and Nick thought it had a Fetty Was feel to the song but we all hear music differently and what touches our heart and ears. I respect your opinion and take on Anpanman. I enjoy both Airplane pt 2 and Anpanman but Anpanman is still my number 1 song of this new album.
Anpanman has quite deep lyrics though : They compare themselves to Anpanman, which is a Japanese cartoon hero who saves other by sacrificing himself... It also mentions the ideals that society ingrains into youth (cars, muscles, ....), their secret scars, as well as their fear of making mistakes and falling... I feel it's kinda like Go Go, the meaning is deep once you analyze the lyrics.
" Too kpopy" BTS is a kpop group so ...Most male kpop groups are not cutesy, its the female kpop groups tend to learn toward the cutesy /bubblegum pop category.
