I got this same compressor pump as well , I use a brass 3/4" coupling from Home depot and than used a 3/4" to 5/8" reducer to flare fitting fits perfectly. Have had it for just over 2yrs now
Started wanting more volume from my compressor. Tire machine, and air tools. Sent some ideas to my brother-in-law who works on compressors. He turned around and is building me a 5 HP Quincy compressor from used or cosmetically rejected parts! I'm stoked!
Thanks for the video Lloyd. I have a similar-sized compressor, so I found your video very interesting. Projects always seem to take longer than you think they will. Happy Holidays!
Nice job changing it over. You'd think that would've been ready to roll but not without changing something. Then the motor goes. Guess it was probably dew too. You'll be back in business soon. Have a Merry Christmas Lloyd.
I have an air compressor identical to yours I purchased in 1990. Still going strong and used almost every day. I figure it is definitely on borrowed time. Only had to change belts and oil. I will probably do the same with mine as you have done with yours once something gives out. Cant wait to see the update. Great job !
I've looked at them compressor pumps at Harbor Freight... the dual piston should be quieter. To bad the motor toasted... she'll be like new when you getter done... Nice helpful DIY Lloyd... thumbs up.!!
I bet that is a metric size pipe fitting . Good looking pump , The ole motor just had enough ! Sure going to be a nice unit when you get it all sorted Lloyd .. Good vid .. Merry Christmas & God Bless !!
I think you're right about the fitting connection. It would have been simpler if it had pipe thread on the end though.. Merry Christmas to you and the family Shawn
hello. Twin cylinder air compressor. It fits nicely! Replace motor pulley. Installing the V-belt. It fits well. But it didn't seem to work. You have a new motor and pulley ready. Thank you my friend.
Perfect timing, I need to replace the compressor on my 5hp/80 gallon compressor. I've looked at the compressors from Harbor Freight as well as Northern Tool, haven't decided which to get yet. I'll wait and see how your HF compressor works. 🙂 I wish HF still had the 20% off coupons.
I wished I had looked at the Northern Tool compressor...may not need to do the extra plumbing. But this HF compressor will work just fine. Thanks and take care
@@RustyGlovebox Well, I just went to the Northern Tool website, and the 5hp vertical twin compressor pump that I was leaning towards getting is now discontinued! ☹ That was going to be a perfect replacement for me. Guess I will have to go with the HF V-twin. Looking forward to your Part 2 on this upgrade.
Should be good once you get a new suitably rated motor and pulley. I have had a few run and start capacitors go bad - but usually it is easy to spot as they exploded!
There's always a hiccup along the way, but you've got it. That's going to be a nice compressor, that pump really puts out the cfm's too. My 60 gallon Husky twin doesn't make that much cfm, so you'll have air to spare.
But now with new motor too, it will be like a new compressor . I have been looking for an upright tank close to me . Some day i will find one . My tank has a hole , may patch it up till i find a tank . Seem to be a lot of lay down tanks around here but they take up so much room .
I found a web site years ago that had a warehouse full of motors any size and the same brand at great prices wish I could remember the name they were that light green industrial color
My next video is about me fixing my 6 HP Air Compressor! You know what they say about like minds.... Haha! You will have a great set up with that new motor installed!
How's she goin'? Too bad about the motor but that looks like a great compressor. The 4 1/2 pully did it in eh. The 2/ 1/2 inch pulley will probably work better and a new motor will be pretty nice. Take care!!
A new motor will make that compressor hum. It seems that when everything is going smoothly I did something wrong, you always have a bump or two before you finally get it right, but when it's right, you do a fist pump and say "ya buddy!!" Look forward to part 2
That is what I'm thinking. I have a new motor coming with a smaller pulley. So it won't put so much strain on the motor. Keep you fingers crossed for me. Thanks Robert
Hey Rusty. Good video. Now that will work well in your shop. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. It’s a nice upgrade for sure. Have a great week
Lloyd you're doing a great job on that project, inspite of the motor problem.
Thanks Walter, just a little hiccup that can easily be handled. New motor may be in by Wednesday
Well on to the part 2 to see what the repair or replacement is!!
*Have a good'nnn*
Appreciate you Gear
I got this same compressor pump as well , I use a brass 3/4" coupling from Home depot and than used a 3/4" to 5/8" reducer to flare fitting fits perfectly. Have had it for just over 2yrs now
Sounds like a great combination to get it hooked up. Thanks

Sounds great, Good luck on your compressor
@@RustyGlovebox appreciate the sub!
Striving to improve on frequency and quality of my videos!
Murphy Had To Show Up!!! A Good 5 Horse Would Do Just Fine!!!
Keep Rocking It Out Brother!!!
Thanks Pat, yep that old motor wasn't used to all the attention it was getting and gave up...lol. Keep on Rocking
Hey Rusty. Good video. Now that will work well in your shop. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍
You bet, looking forward to putting it to the test. Thanks
It's coming along nicely Lloyd, new motor and you will be in business, 😎👍✌️
Just one small hiccup along the way that will easily be fixed. Thanks Tom
Thanks for the video Lloyd. I have a similar-sized compressor, so I found your video very interesting. Projects always seem to take longer than you think they will. Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays my friend. Just like I said , everything was going just too smoothly. Thanks Todd
Nice job changing it over. You'd think that would've been ready to roll but not without changing something. Then the motor goes. Guess it was probably dew too. You'll be back in business soon. Have a Merry Christmas Lloyd.
Thanks Pat, I guess after 30 years the motor was due to fail. The new motor came in today so I will have it on soon . Have a great Christmas

Thanks, this has been a good compressor indeed. After I get the pump and motor swapped out it will be around for many more years, take care.
I've looked at them compressor pumps at Harbor Freight... the dual piston should be quieter. To bad the motor toasted... she'll be like new when you getter done... Nice helpful DIY Lloyd... thumbs up.!!
I think the motor was on its way out and adding the load of the new compressor was just too much for it. Thanks Pappy

hello.
Twin cylinder air compressor.
It fits nicely!
Replace motor pulley.
Installing the V-belt. It fits well.
But it didn't seem to work.
You have a new motor and pulley ready.
Thank you my friend.
The new compressor and motor will do a great job suppling air for the tools . Thank you my friend
Darn it's always something. Nice plumbing work.
Thanks Scott, I was thinking the same thing. But it won't be long and It will be back going again.
I need to do the same thing with my 20+ year old Husky. It's getting tired. I can hear your air tools singing now Lloyd!
It will be back up and going better than ever with the new motor Thanks Matt
Where did you get the fitting the check valve unloader part that goes into the tank
this is the best video on this compressor on RUclips.
I bought mine from Amazon. They have several different styles available.
Strange, maybe metric. Good fix Lloyd. Well the motor lived a good life, new motor. This baby is gonna be ready to start life over again!
I know...right. It is going to pump up a storm after all this. Thanks

I have had a few run and start capacitors go bad - but usually it is easy to spot as they exploded!
These capacitors checked good so I'm feeling good by replacing the motor now. Should do well after that. Thanks Doug and have a great Christmas

Just when you think everything is going great and BOOM reality hits...lol. Thanks
Nothing is ever easy!! Hang in there Bud, my money is on you!!☻
Nothing ever worth doing come easy they say. Thanks Buddy

I agree Terry , after this the compressor should be trouble free for many years. Thanks
One thing leads to another but in the end you will have a good running compressor.
Thanks Ron, with any luck it will be good for a long time after this.
Looks like it’s coming along- and smooth (ish) too. When isn’t there something that goes wrong?
It was really going great till right down to the last minute and it went haywire after that. Thanks Roy
Very Cool! 😎 Merry Christmas 🎅🏻 My Friend! 🎄
Thanks and have a great Christmas
I found a web site years ago that had a warehouse full of motors any size and the same brand at great prices wish I could remember the name they were that light green industrial color
Thanks, I found another 5hp electric motor that was reasonably priced. Should be here mid-week
This looks like a great upgrade and I really like the way you installed it. It is a shame about the motor
The motor was an unexpected problem but won't be hard to overcome. Thanks Joseph
it'll be like brand new when you get done with it, unless your tank springs a leak.. lol
I hear you Vernon. Things just happen sometimes
My next video is about me fixing my 6 HP Air Compressor! You know what they say about like minds.... Haha! You will have a great set up with that new motor installed!
I saw your video and nice work Bill. Have a great New Year
Try a coupler with a barb fitting
I bet that would do it. Thanks
How's she goin'? Too bad about the motor but that looks like a great compressor. The 4 1/2 pully did it in eh. The 2/ 1/2 inch pulley will probably work better and a new motor will be pretty nice. Take care!!
I agree with you Mike , the smaller pulley should be much easier on the motor. Cheers and take care
That's the way it goes.
Have to take the good with the bad sometimes but this won't stop us just a little slow down a little. Thanks Dan
2 smooth does it every time :)
I hear you, something had too go wrong. Thanks Steve
Sorry for that one but rather pack up early and not when you use it than the job have to wait, good video my friend
Like they say Jan - it rains on the just and the un-just...lol. Enjoy the Holidays ahead my friend
Too bad about the motor Lloyd, but it is kind of old so I'm sure a new one will be much better in the long run. :)
The next thing to fail is always the weakest link and the motor was it. Thanks Doug
I really want a big compressor like that .I can just run it all day 4 sanding
That's what I have planned for it when it is time to do the body work on the pickup. Thanks
A new motor will make that compressor hum. It seems that when everything is going smoothly I did something wrong, you always have a bump or two before you finally get it right, but when it's right, you do a fist pump and say "ya buddy!!" Look forward to part 2
Thanks Ken, it wouldn't be any fun if there wasn't a hiccup now and then. Hope you get some snow to test those snowmobiles out soon.
There's always a wrench thrown somewhere....dang it
I know that's right. I knew it was going too easy and something had to happen...lol
Maybe the added compression of the new compressor was just a little too much for an old motor !🤔🤔 maybe
That is what I'm thinking. I have a new motor coming with a smaller pulley. So it won't put so much strain on the motor. Keep you fingers crossed for me. Thanks Robert
What a bummer.
Just a little set back. Replacement parts arrive Wednesday. Thanks
At least the tank will be original Lloyd.
You are right about that Noel...lol. Thanks and enjoy your bike trip
Lol yeah to smooth cant have that
I know what you mean. When that new motor comes in I'll be set. Thanks
That probably is a 20 mm fitting.
I bet you're correct Bruce. I might have found one at a HVAC parts supply. Thanks
