Interesting fact: the younger generation, especially white males are the most conservative generation in years, and you are seeing this trend across Europe.
One reason, and I say this as an eighty year old, is seeing all one has held dear and cherished quickly disappearing in front of your eyes. Being treated as a second class citizen in favor of illegal immigrants. Our winter fuel allowance ripped away to fund those who have barged into our country. Before I’m accused of being a racist, I’m in favor of legal immigration, we need to have a vibrant and hardworking population to survive in this modern world. One last moan, when I turned eighty, my pension was increased by 25p. I consider this to be an insult, it won’t even pay for the use of a public toilet! Then, of course, comrade Starmer cancels the fuel allowance.
So you blame immigration for your crappy low pensions, and being 'treated as asecond class citizen' (whtever that means; can youn explain, please?) You've learned nothing in your 80 years, except that it's easier to blame a tiny minority for the state of things, as opposed to challenging your own indigenous contemporaries over the decades.
We must stop being afraid of words - I am racist and proud. I love and will only buy from and support my own kind. I am against immigration - all people have a land of their own, stay in it and make it better, do not come here and make ours worse.
Once you get to a certain age you really have nothing to loose. For instance you can’t threaten me with the loss of my job. As a nurse of 43 years, I refused the unlicensed inadequately tested V’cine, because healthcare needs me, I no longer need it, and I could make a stand for the sake of my colleagues.
@@mannylikestoanimate I agree entirely. Unfortunately some people don’t know what to do with their anger, especially when their persistent verbal complaints are ignored. I can assure them we aren’t and sooner or later , probably too late ,they will realize just how right we were . Oh well never mind eh , I’ll be dead soon enough .
It is rare that I disagree with Simon, but on this occasion I do so. It is not the closure of shops on the high street, it is not the shutting down of pubs, it is not that nothing at all can be done without tapping on a computer keyboard - or any such matter. It is the attack on and the loss of our English culture. The tolerant, friendly and sometimes eccentric social structure which seemed to flourish without any rules or regulations. That is what old people are angry about. losing. Old people believe, quite rightly, that this culture would be of immeasurable benefit to future generations - but it is being brutally killed off. We have failed in our historic duty to our ancestors and to our children.
I cannot agree with all of this Simon. It is of course pretty normal for an older generation to feel that things were better in the past. My father, who was born during the first world war, preferred Benny Goodman to Led Zeppelin. He also never wore a pair of denims in his life. But this did not lead him to go and riot in the streets. Incidentally, the High Street played almost no part in his entire life. Shopping was for women. Nor did he go to the pub every night. While every generation sees a lot of change from the past, the seething anger that we see today is of a completely different order and you know the reason as well as I do.
I'm 68 but as you get towards the arse end of your life you realise you only have a few years to go so you have little of life to lose and become more brazen. I'll wait a while longer until I start misbehaving. "You can't go back" as they say.
The two elderly men convicted, have a long criminal history, do you think if it was a first offence they would be sent to prison? Old Hooligans on benefits without a shilling to their name are extremely volatile!
Because they remember what this country used to be like, and how previous governments have bowed down to certain minorities, they feel that under the current one it’s only going to get worse.
Being of a similar age I am concerned about ALL British people from kids to pensioners being abused, deceived and manipulated by government and 'woke' rubbish. Saying that old people are just being 'old duffers' is disingenuous.
Pubs are bound to close in areas with large muslim populations because they boycott them entirely, whereas normal teetotallers still visit for meals and non-alcoholic drinks.
