Awesome mate. Brilliant project, i reckon most of us viewers are 50 odd year old blokes who would like to follow your path. An inspiration, keep it up.
@@LimitlessLifeAfloat I would certainly agree with you, This world is a bit harsh for us 50iers with the speed and eclectic way things change nowadays. It is never too late to do what we have always wanted to do. My choices up until watching this video were buying a camper and driving round the UK or buying a little cruiser but now I think a little cabin cruiser like andys will suit me down to the ground. Never give up. Thx to Andy for his inspiration. 🛥
I think the definition of a being a 50 year old bloke is ‘toxic male’ haha just for being of an older generation. Somebody told me recently they say 40 +10 for their age 😆 There seems to be an ever increasing clamp down in this country for vans, more height restrictions at car parks and I see a lot of problems on peoples channels arising in Scotland I think possibly just from some in van abusing the area. I think in the States it would be awesome with their national parks. As always thanks for your comment it’s great to know I can inspire with the videos.
@@LimitlessLifeAfloat You'd be right with the "toxic male" title given to "most men" hahaha....Believe it or not there are a lot of restrictions in most national parks in the states, campers (RV'S) are not permitted and also there have been a huge increase of crimes against campers due to the social instability at the moment. The USA is not all it is crack out to be, I personally think the UK is a lot better in many aspects than the USA. Boating is on another level in the states which is relative to wealthier people and status nowadays. One that lives on a 20 or 30 foot boat in the states is classed as a hobo or homeless. And yes I have seen the retions to Rv ers in Scotland, not good. But anyway, Maybe in the future we will pass one and other on the Thames. Good luck sir.
Yes especially after lockdown although narrowboat prices I hear have dropped a little. I didn’t want a narrowboat at this stage after being in a van. But the benefits are you can travel to and down the UK’s networks. If money were no object I’d love a Dutch barge.
Great vid mate, brought a 50 Year old cruiser project in October, water levels just dropped enough to get her out. Stripped everything out and struggling to find motivation. Got some great inspiration from this, cracking on tomorrow
Recycled plastic insulation? Great tip. Thanks for that, I would never have thought of it and will use it on my caravan restoration. Thanks and best of luck with the resto. Tim.
Hi pall we love boats go on Norfolk broads every year we not a fan of V births if it been me id of put in a center bed but easier said than done good luck with the boating journey ill watch with intrest
Thanks for you input Richard much appreciated. Over two years on and the bed almost fills the whole cabin and still managed to keep the draws. I’ve never been on the broads looks lovely. Thanks again for commenting.
3 years in now mate, sponge on solid base you can get a waffle like under mat, keeps airflow and stops mould under there. Lived in a van before this with same setup. But thanks for your comment.
Hey Andy, small world! I came across your video, recognised you, and subscribed. You look really well. I see you are still training hard. I still love my boats and probably why I found you. Maybe throw some of your fitness/food expertise in for us over indulged 50 year olds 😊. The marina you stayed in whilst building the boat near the thames court pub? Keep up with videos! Oh, the last time I we met, you were at Rykas cafe a few years back. Dean
Hi Dean is this the Dean with a brother Tony? Thanks for subscribing mate. I’m good thanks, just doing calisthenics now my so lost a lot of muscle but it was time to move on. I may add some gym/pt stuff in. Hope you’re well dude.
@LimitlessLifeAfloat indeed it is! Well, you still look strong 💪 great boating videos, and keep them coming amongst over things. I feel you have lots to give and knowledge wise too.
Heyyy Dean thanks bro. Forgot to say yeah that’s the boatyard around the corner from TC. Thanks mate only started last week getting serious on RUclips and so far it’s been going week. Good to hear from you.
I thought it was, it is so lovely around there and I have been there quite a few times back in the days! Mate, set up a support link so I can buy you a coffee ☕
Very nice. The shape of the bed looks really odd and uncomftable, but it's hard to tell on video. Personally, I would have removed the entire existing bed frame and storage and made the entire cabin space a bed. Underneath could have been kept clear and used ror storage using the ikea boxes on wheels. Then again its easy for me to say good effort mate
Hi thanks for commenting. The bed is very different now from when I did that back then, a lot bigger. As for storage underneath there isn’t really much of a floor as it’s a the bow of the boat and the hull curves in. Floor is about a foot wide and couple of feet long so needed to keep and have access the draws and shelf.
hey Andy. I am a 56 yr old Brit from Kent but have lived in Mexico for the last 30 yrs. Due to the death of my father i will be back to stay in the Thames / kent area mid 2025 and plan to buy a similar sized maybe a little bit bigger cruiser to live on with my terrier dog. Your advice is great so far. What permissions are required to have / own a live on boat, insurance and mooring charges approx. Monthly costs of an average use boat. Thanks in advance. Richard.
Hi Richard sorry to hear of your loss. My license I’ve just got for 2025 for a 30ft boat was just under £740 for the year. Your boat needs a boat safety certificate (like an MOT) that lasts for 4 years. Insurance obviously varies depending on size and age of boat. I’m a continuous cruiser so have to move generally every few days sometimes every day. A home mooring on the Thames for a liverboard are few and far between but also expensive. Hope this helps.
@@LimitlessLifeAfloat Thank you for a speedy reply Andy. I will begin to look into these aspects of living on board. I wish you all the luck in you current project and I will continue to follow your videos as a guide for next year. Thank you sir. All the best.

Nice! This rig is probably a lot cheaper than a narrowboat but has all the same benefits.

Lived on my boat 20years , 2 years ago changed to lifepo4 batteries! Best decision i made in 20yrs 👍😊
Nice one mate. Into my third year now. Bought a 230ah Fogstar Drift incredible having decent lithium isn’t it.
Don't put a foam mattress on a solid base - even memory foam. Foam needs ventilation so should be laid on a slatted base to allow it to ventilate.

Definitely going to be enjoying this whole process, makes me want longer videos.

looking good
