This is my favorite scene of the entire series. It's gut wrenching and it's as if the entire season 3 is building to this point. Not to mention the acting is outrageous. I've watched a lot of sci fi and no show has brought me to tears more times then Claudia and Ben have playing Aeryn and John. They are brilliant.
god, this scene tore me up and had me screaming at them to stop hurting each other. It's so simple to us because we know they're meant to be but for Aeryn, man Aeryn, this season 3 arc is gutwrenching. She allowed herself to truly love him and she ended up losing him, yet he's right there and she still loves him but is terrified of the consequences and has walled herself up again. And John, man John is so damn in love and hurting so bad. He's desperately trying to tear back down that wall "anywhere, you pick the planet" but she's so not ready to let that happen which culminates in this messy raw scene where they are both angry at each other and you can see it clearly. The real pain of love and what vulnerability does to a person. Aeryn resents John because her falling in love opened her up to horrible heartbreak, and John resents Aeryn because he's jealous that he finally had her but really missed the experience (TalynJohn), and now she's pushing him away. So here we are where they lash out at each other even though they are very much in love. Fear is the driving emotion here. Fear because he's losing her and fear because she could lose him again. So the coin toss achieves nothing because Aeryn needs to leave and John needs to let her go.
"There is no home, there is no wormhole, there's only y--" God still hearing that after all this time still gives me the chills. This scene, more than any other in the entire series, more than even PK Wars or the proposal, baby, anything, is my favorite scene. It's so rife with angst, intense emotion, incredible acting, and dramatic dialogue. My hat's off to Claudia, Ben and the writers for creating such an incredible scene.
damn, they are both so much in pain, I really can't tell which one got more heartbroken in this... This scene is the result of an amazing plot, a kick-ass character and character development, a wonderful script and filming, but most of all the best acting you'll ever see on television. It's been years since the end of Farscape, but I still can't find a single show that compares to it in any way TT__TT It feels like yesterday to me TT__TT
This scene was so torturous watching on Scifi when it originally aired. Heart breaking and then having to wait for what seemed like forever to see what happened next. It was terrible.
Ironically, they're fighting about the same thing in this scene. He can't watch her leave because of what he experienced after Scorpius took over his body and killed her; she wants to leave because of what she experienced after the Crichton duplicate got killed. Essentially same wrong; two different reactions.
John was trying to get Aeryn to say that she loves John Crichton, not the Other John, not him specifically, John Crichton the man. And Aeryn reciprocated when she was trying to get him to see he needed to let her go. simple as that. it's a beautiful scene, if heartbreaking.
And the strange thing is that i clicked on the uploader's name to watch all of these and gave up a video with one of my favourite song (Fix you) from my favourite band (Coldplay) and from Farscape.
@roewedge Even if you have a limited knowledge of Farscape, like me, that scene brings tears to my eyes. I've only seen a few episodes but John and Aeryn are my favorite sci fi coulple.
...wow. They're good. They're aesome together. Why is it that all of the really talented actors are the ones you never see in anything (I'll make exceptions for George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, and yes, Johnny Depp).
