I got to skate with Willy in Sacramento in early 90's super cool. And like a year later seen him on t.v. x-games super smooth kick flips. I learned how to kick flip from him that day. Memories.. I love skating.
I interpreted it as meaning finding the point further down on the rail that is at the same level as the ground you’re ollieing from. They call it sea level because it’s like saying the point where the ground and rail “intersect” like the sea and sky in the horizon. This would be opposed to riding squarely up to the rail on ollieing right on top of it - right where the rail begins.
It’s when you approach a rail and you start to see where the horizon of the stair lines up where to land your board! Now I’m typing it I realise how hard it is to communicate.
