    _Wasshoi wasshoi!_
Hi lovely Angelina, i just noticed you look beautiful and very similar to MomoMetal, i wonder if you like peaches like her 🍑❤️
Here's some official info for you about this great new collab song with living legend guitarist Tom Morello from RATM, Audioslave and many more. It's just about party and dance in a traditional Japanese summer festival.
Keep enjoying BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥
"This is officially the first new song by the newly reborn BABYMETAL, now consisting of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL.
This song is very up-tempo and one that was created with the envision of a summer festival taking place in a metal village and everyone forming a circle to celebrate the festival.
BABYMETAL is ready to make this summer even hotter with their new song.
BABYMETAL are now celebrating a very special collaboration with legendary guitarist Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine.
This collaboration with BABYMETAL will become a very exciting opportunity for both artists transcending generations."
    Tom Morello comment:
_"I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I’ve been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of METALI!! I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!"_

The music is about a Metal Village holding a metal festival. Thus you have all the matsuri shouts "Sore, sore", "Dokoisho" and ofc, "Wasshoi!".
And there's Momo's part, where she speaks in Kabuki style.
    🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻

Exactly. Also, the song title "Metali" is a combination of the words Metal and Matsuri.

Nice reactin!! I want you to enjoy BM more.
The old crazy BMs are back and I for one am glad.
In my personal opinion, this song opens up MOMOMETAL. I think she will now become a real part of BM and show her own colours.
It was the same with megitsune, when a song has a lot of Japanese culture in it, it is difficult to explain. Read only if you are interested, as the content may be a little removed from the song itself.(I'm sure you have an idea of what you're getting at, but I'll write it down in a nutshell.)
METALI is a word that adds METAL and 祭り(Matsuri=festival). And this song is a representation of a Japanese 夏祭り(Natsu Matsuri=summer festival). For us Japanese, these sound and lyrics make our Matsuri blood boil. Matsuri is the heart of the Japanese people. It is said that there are a total of 300,000 festivals in Japan, both large and small. Matsuri means a ritual for worshiping Gods or Buddha, or an event held in gratitude towards nature. 神輿(Mikoshi=portable shrine) is a carriage for Gods. In the festival, Japanese people get around the Mikoshi and carry it on their shoulders in order to worship Gods. While carrying the Mikoshi, the carriers will yell "Wasshoi, Wasshoi" or "Soiya, Soiya" or "Sore, Sore".(However, the calls vary considerably from region to region.)
神輿(Mikoshi=portable shrine) and お囃子(Ohayashi=festival music) of Matsuri have a history of more than 1,000 years and are etched in the DNA of the Japanese people.
The funny-looking masks with their mouths agape are ひょっとこ(hyottoko). It has existed for roughly 500-600 years.
The masks were originally used in 神楽(kagura). Kagura is a dance dedicated to the gods. In the film Your Name, Mitsuki danced dressed as a 巫女(Miko=shrine maiden), which is also a type of Kagura.
The counterpart to the Hyottoko is a female mask called おかめ(Okame) or おたふく(Otafuku). Okame and Hyottoko masks are sold at Japanese 夏祭り(Natsu Matsuri=summer festivals).
The Japanese consider foxes and cats to have strong spiritual powers and fear them. At the same time, foxes are enshrined in shrines as messengers of the gods.
The instrument used in the intro is the 三味線(shamisen), a three-line string instrument.
赤子(akago) is baby, 金属(kinzoku) is metal.
ぴーひゃら(Pehyara) in the lyrics is the sound of a 篠笛(Shino bue=transverse flute) used at Matsuri.
どっこいしょ(Dokkoisho) is the voice used when lifting heavy objects. The choreography when saying "Dokkoisho" is the pose of carrying a heavy object on the shoulder.
The choreography when saying わっしょい(Wasshoi) is a pose for carrying a Mikoshi(portable shrine).
The lyrics "Odorin chai" and "Utain chai" are in the dialect of SU-METAL's birthplace, Hiroshima. In standard language, the words are "Odori nasai" and "Utai nasai", meaning "you should dance" and "you should sing".
MOMOMETAL speaks in the middle, that is 歌舞伎(kabuki) speaking.
MOMOMETAL's odd pose is the Kabuki climactic pose.
The lines said by MOMOMETAL come from the 阿波おどり(Awa Odori), a traditional Japanese dance. Originally by.
    踊る阿呆に(Odoru Ahoo ni)、見る阿呆(Miru Ahoo)、同じ阿呆なら(Onaji Ahonara)踊らにゃ損損(Odoranya son son)!
(The dancers are fools, the watchers are fools. Both are fools alike so, why not dance?)
    ※踊る(odoru=dance),阿呆(ahoo=fool),見る(miru=view)
It is called 合いの手(Ainote) or 掛け声(kakegoe), a call to be inserted between songs. 合いの手(Ainote) or 掛け声(kakegoe) can be wasshoi, dokkoisho, sore, soresore, ha, ho, yo, yoisho, etc.
If you are interested in Mikoshi, musical performances, etc., please search youtube for these characters and watch the videos. When the Japanese see this, our blood starts to boil.

This is about Japanese festivals. At JAPANESE FESTIVALS, you will often see a group of people carry portable shrines on their shoulders. They shout "WASSHOI WASSHOI ... " endlessly as they move about.
Usually they are carried by men, but in respect to BABYMETAL, here is a female group => ruclips.net/video/dknY49pINvo/видео.html
Also the main message at festivals are repeated in this MV (sung by Su and articulated by Momo- Kabuki style) = There are two types of idiots = one that dances and one that watches.
If you're going to be an idiot (by being here) be the dancing idiot. So this song was designed to have people dance and shout, so is totally wild live.

    Babymetal Metali (feat) Tom Morello:-
Babymetal have joined forces with Tom Morello of "Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Prophets of Rage, Lock Up, Street Sweeper Social Club, Axis of Justice, Class of '99, Shandi's Addiction" for a new single ‘Metali’.
The new song is the latest in the Japanese kawaii metal band’s series of star-studded collaborations, and sees them partner with the Rage guitarist for another up-tempo, electrifying track.
The group first teased the release last week and, according to the press release, ‘Metali’ is “officially the first song by the newly reborn” group - now consisting of SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL. It also confirms that the single was created with the vision of their crowd forming a circle pit at a metal festival this summer.
Babymetal - METALI (feat. Tom Morello)” was released as a digital Single in 2023. The Japanese Title “メタり” has a distinctive style of kana usage. It is written as the nominal form of the made up verb “to do metal”.
This song is characterized by the classic metal style of the Japanese band, combined with some j-rap touches that distinguish it from previous releases. And of course, the subject gets more frantic through the classic guitar style of Tom Morello, which fits quite well in the musical
    LYRICS TRANSLATION:-
It’s the metal-village festival metal song
    festival, festival, come together
make a ring, make a ring
    let the party horns dance1
brothers and sisters of metal-village too
    festival, festival, come together
make a ring, make a ring
    sing together
    like that, like that, heigh-ho2
you’re a fool if you dance, and a fool if you just look on, so let’s dance3
you have to dance and become a fool
like that, like that, like that, heigh-ho
you have to dance and sing
you have to sing and dance
everyone has to dance, dance dance,
    we don’t go home.
    dance, dance
dance, like that, like that, heigh-ho
    shake it, shake it
    like that, like that!
    sing, sing!
sing! like that, like that, heigh-ho!

but if you dance to also be a fool
    when you dance

    ….
(shortened for translation, more heigh-ho and heave-ho follow until the end)
Paper horns blown into to celebrate:-
"These are shoutings used at traditional festivals. “sore” and “dokkoisho”. This is the same sore used in Megitsune.
lyrics sung during the Awa Odori festival. This is a farely long sentence translated but shorter in Japanese.
more shoutings used at traditional festivals. “wasshoi”.
the Japanese phrase used here literally translates to “the cats and bamboo lids also” which has the meaning of “everyone and anyone”
This part is spoken in a traditional way of japanese theater, called kabuki".

I totally agree concerning Momoko. She is straight charisma and talent to boot. Being a trinity again makes things so much better, and truthfully this is the first song post-2017/Yui era that seems to me like a natural progression of original FUN Babymetal!

Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛 The title is a synthesized word from two words : "Metal" and "Matsuri 祭 (festival)" → Metali. And if you want to know the deep meaning of the lyrics please check Professor Hartley's channel (Andrew Hartley).
I witnessed this song twice (including world premiere = live debut) out of three times performed live to date. At the actual venues, this song followed after the Western Kamis' cool instrumental solos 😍. I got hyped like an idiot in the simplicity of this song and Momoko's extravagant elocution and moves in Kabuki style (and her growl in live show) gives an amazing accent in the repetitiveness. I really want to go nuts again but it is impossible because BM will not return to Japan until sometime next year after their world tour. So American fans like you have big responsibility to ignite this song internationally. Before they start US tour end of this month, you guys should master two short choreo (1) "Dokkoisho" (どっこいしょ) part (2) "Wasshoi" (わっしょい) part. That is very important like you have done in "Saiya" and "Soiya" in Karate. 😄 May the force be with you!

Practicing on one foot. I will mess it up at the beginning of the tour, but will have it down by Vegas and LA. I agree with you. It is the responsibility of every kitsune to learn the dance and promote the band.

"Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Wasshoi!“ Welcome back and great reaction, you just know the live performances of this will be completely wild and the crowd will go nuts! 🤘🤪🤘
This was Momometal's first official music video and she got her own solo part with the spoken kabuki theatre section.
Metali is a fusion of the words metal and matsuri (festival). They are inviting us all to dance - I may have this a bit wrong, but there is something in the lyrics about we are all idiots - the idiots who watch and the idiots who dance ... so as we're all here and we're all idiots why just watch, we may as well all dance.
