  • Build and configure automation of pool water heater system. Using IOT and Sonoff device as the main part
    -- More information below! --
Using sonoff devices flashed with Tasmota and Node red made it simple to automatize a simple task like making sure our pool is heated!
The Node red code used for this can be found here: (New updated 2019-08-19)

If I get enough likes and comments I may write a guide for it as well.
For now you have to do with the Video it self.
More info on Tasmota and configure the sensors:

Im afraid making videos take time and I need to make a living too :)

Does this all run from your solar system?

why make it so difficult , if it is that simple !!!! one wants to stand out with this ?

It isnt? One sonoff and it can now be controlled from My auto service :)

    Yeah, nope.
I trust those SONOFabitch things about as far as I can spit. Also, I don't see why you couldn't have done this with a standard thermostat. Remote temperature monitoring could have been easily done any number of ways separate to the control loop. I don't see the advantage, and I don't trust that line of devices. Electrically, they're pretty average and I've heard (though I don't know for sure) the instructions tell you to punch a hole in your firewall so they can work. Also I'm not a big fan of IOT. It's all a stupid idea.

Hahaha you seem to have a bad Day. No One have forced you to do it. Yes a thermostat could have stopped that pump but cant controll the heating system that need to be controlled remotely. Personelly im all for iot and automatization. Perhaps not strange since working with it for years. Note that i dont run stock software... I would not let My iot system outside My Network. Mqtt is neat to work with but not for the fainted

@@DIYTechRepairs I'm all for automation too. I've been building robots for a hobby for over 30 years.
I also made the assumption that the pool heater, given the placement of the heat exchanger could only operate when the heating system was operating for the house.
If not running the stock sonof software with it's (so I'm told) security flaws, then that's one closer. But still, I'm not a big fan of their devices. A lot of them lack isolation, cheap relays, I haven't looked at their firmware yet, and for that reason don't trust it.
MQQT is not a bad protocol, I just don't see the point of 60 million pot plants pinging the water content of their soil every 3 seconds. If it's for their own purposes and kept within their own network, fair enough. But that's not what IOT is, now is it?
My apologies, I wasn't trying to be offensive.

@@Jimmeh_B iot can be within a confined Network or not. Back in the days it was connected anywhere but thats not doable with ipv4 nor with the lack of security. I know that the iot def is internet of things but People tend to argue of its actual use. In My case its more of connected devices :). I would never expose my system :) it need to be at home and each part need to be able to operate on its own.
