Hi Schatze thank you so much for the nice comment!! :) we are planning an episode soon on making friends soon! It really comes down to putting yourself out there; making an effort to learn the language & culture, inviting people over for dinner, chatting up the local cafe workers/bartenders, dating apps (bumble BFF, normal dating apps if the person is cool and you both want to be friends), meetups (like sports, yoga, etc) and also FB groups (ex. Amsterdam Housing group, reaching out to like minded people and telling them your story, asking to meet for a coffee. I think if you also work for a dutch company that would be a great way as well.
About Santa Klaus, it worths to mention that during its "arrival" - filmed on tv - it is played every year by the same actor basically until his death....

Fyi sinterklaas IS related as in it is the original. He is based on a historical person called saint nicholas hence the pointy hat due to the connection with the church. Other countries have other version of sinkterklaas. Santa claus is a invented version introduced by cocacola for an add compain in the states. Also you can put fried baconbits in the stampot to level up ;)

Actually it's STAMPPOT, with dubble 'pp' in the middle as it's 2 words combined 'Stamp' (=mash) and Pot (=pot or pan)

Sinter Klaas, Santa Claus only the name makes it the same guy
Actually, Sinterklaas refers to the Saint Nicolas of/from Myra, which helped poor children and it is said that once he lowered something like this > 💰, so a daughter of a poor man could get married.

Santa Claus actually developed in America out of a combination of European mythical figures. One of them was the Dutch Sinterklaas. Both are based on Saint Nicholas (patron Saint of children, sailors and prostitutes).
Oh and lots of Dutchies just say Santa and Sinterklaas are cousins.
