Caballe was never unapproachable...she was so human.
no one could grab, hold, and sustain a note indefinitely like Montserrat, without losing any of its beauty of tone and brilliance.
Most beautiful voice and charisma ever
I hear Montsy and Freddie together and I just want to cry. Their voices are so beautiful, music runs through their bodies, they are music,.and their mutual love for one another is glaringly obvious.
She was an angel on earth. She now sings in heaven
Freddie Mercury just loved her and her incredibly amazing voice.
I smile thinking of the 2 of them singing together in heaven
”Unapproachable diva?” Who the hell said that? That’s ridiculous. Diva, yes - in a good way. Unapproachable? Never. She was always grateful and kind to her fans. She was a lovelh lady with a warm heart.
And that’s not the only mistake in the video. Do better.
But Montse - we love and miss you. Rest in peace❤️
There are idiots everywhere ..and here was one of them!
She had no boundaries for joy in singing
Her smile and humor was very beautiful and warm. Such an underrated amazing woman!! R.I.P...
She was not underrated. She was greatest soprano of her time. With an incredible repertoire etc. So much more diverse than leontyne Price and Dame Joan. 🇫🇷🍷💙 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
@@arnoldamaral7406 Sorry I think you are misunderstanding my comment..
The incredible, inimitable La Superba!
Good, bad or indifferent...She was one of G-D's most infinitely and incredibly joyous gifts to us. She earned her success with pain, tears, and disappointments, but always with an the attitude of "Tell me I can't and I will show you I can". She was a very gracious lady and will be forever missed and loved by the many of us she never knew...
La Superba, a legend!! R.I.P
What a beautiful person
My favourite soprano!
Real Diva! Her Artistry was absolutely amazing.
FABULOUS.......MONTSERRAT!!!!!! 🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎼🎵🎶💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜Love Montserrat so much!!!!!!What for a woman..........👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Montsy and Freddie are together and having the time of their lives!
She is the reason I fell in love with opera.
A true gift from God: RIP
I was watching a video of her teaching a master class. She kept trying to get a young lady to push the notes from her diaphragm and not her throat. She kept trying to get her to do it over and over and was so patient. She was so sweet.
i have always loved Maria Callas. but i’ll admit, i don’t know much about opera. i can’t believe i’ve only just discovered Monserrat Caballe. absolutely stunning! i have a lot of catching up to do.
You won't be disappointed my friend. The greatest art form in the world. 🇷🇺🌍🌏🌎🍷 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
Indeed you do my friend indeed you do...!!! She was truly one of a kind.
😅
She, indeed, after Callas
Good luck in your journey, discovering Caballe. I too, am a Maria Callas fan as well as a Caballe fan.
I was so happy to see this. She is my absolute favorite singer of any genre. So talented, warm and stunningly beautiful. My only complaint with this document was that there were no singers talking about her. No Domingo, No Carerras, No Te Kanawa, No Cotrubas, Not even Marily Horne....I would have loved to hear more from people who actually sung with her. Yes, I know the host is a singer, but I meant the interviews. Oh, hearing this one guy call her "difficult" *eyeroll* everything else I've heard says she was the opposite. She was passionate about the music. She said herself, she was a servant to the composer. I don't believe for one second she was the difficult one.
Wonderful voice . Words can not describe it !
Love Montserrat's voice, is like a balsam for the soul ❤ What a big, big honour was to be able to know her personally. Such a great human beeing❤ Such loss...
And such a shame for Zaragoza to loose her Voice Competition. Happy, that it revives now at Gran Teatre del Liceu and Teatro Real Madrid!🎉🎉🎉
WORLDSTAR............Montserrat Caball'e 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 ❤ I adore her!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
GÖTTIN of the Sopranomusic........allways!!!!!!And so lovley!!!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🎼🎵🎶😘😘
I can now see why Freddie was absolutely stunned by her. It’s was sad that she outlived him. She was La Superba! Thank you Montse for your absolute dedication to your career.
Thank you for this!
I was only lucky enough to see her a few times onstage. Adriana Lecouvreur at the Met, and I said to myself, "I will never hear a more beautiful sound than this." And also scenes from The Ring at the New York Philharmonic, where she sang Brunnhilde. I asked to meet her, and waited patiently while she signed pictures of herself in beautiful gowns and jewels. When I reached her dressing table, she signed a picture......holding the head of John the Baptist!! I don''t know why she chose it, but I still have it framed on the wall.
She was fabulous. That is all. ❤️
Such great voice and beautiful soul.
What a shining name, Wow... such a grand package to the world🌹🌹🌹🌹
thank you for this wonderful documentary
Lucrezia Borgia didn't happen at the Metropolitan, it was a American Opera Society production.
That’s what I was thinking.
@davidmolina7543 yes at Carnegie Hall. Marilyn Horne was still singing both soprano and mezzo roles.
One of the real post-war greats. The Lucrezia Borgia breakthrough though, replacing Horne, was in fact at Carnegie Hall in New York in concert and NOT The Met.
They said it correctly in the beggining
This documentary sucks. And full of embellishments. It should be taken off RUclips. 🇫🇷🍷 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
Montserrat is the patron saint of Catalonia, shared with Saint George. Saint Eulalia is the patron saint of Barcelona.
Thank you Danielle de Niese, this is a beautiful piece.
Awesome
( irrepetibles )
17:20 Norma is a mezzo part? That's new to me! She did also sing Adalgisa, though, which is indeed considered a mezzo role, although nowadays it's often sung by a soprano. But then they are showing the cover of the 1973 RCA recording in which she sang the title role (which is definitely a soprano part!)
I believe the doctor was confused Norma is a soprano part and Adalsia isA mezzo or a soprano part as well.
The part was first sing by a soprano.
Both roles were written for a soprano voice. However, because the role of Adalgisa delves into the mezzo soprano registre, it was taken over the years by mezzos with easy high notes.
@@davidmolina7543 No actually Adalgisa is a soprano role. However it's usually sung by mezzos and many times parts of it are transposed to accommodate the mezzo
Supersonic diva
Her debut in NY wasn’t at the Met but in Carnegie hall. A huge gaff in a documentary bio!!!!
Correct. Lots of errors in this presentation. Lucretia Borgia was performed at Carnegie Hall. I always knew who Monserrat was and thought she had a lovely voice, but unfortunately never got really interested in her until she was at the end of her career. She was a person i would have liked to have known.
Perfect Awesome!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍👍
I love the Andrea Chenier duet for the Met Opera Gala. Just so compelling
La grande Monserratt! RIP IN HEAVEN
Montserrat did not perform "Barcelona" alone at the Olympics opening ceremony in 1992. She performed a different song with José Carreras. Who made the research for this video?
Gracias.
This documentary is full of wrong information , better to watch the one Montserrat agreed to take part in, produced by Euroarts. She was not only an incredible artist, but a wonderful human being, I shall never forget how witty she was. I miss her very much.
I agree. A very disjointed and disappointing documentary! LS Superba deserves much better than this bit of fluff!
Hacienda somos todos.

This is pretty much a junk channel.
Hello. Thanks again for these videos. Maybe you could do one on Leontyne Price.
Her big break in NYC was with Lucrezia Borgia, replacing Marilyn Horne, BUT it was NOT at the Met. It was at Carnegie Hall.
She WAS NOT an "unapproachable diva"! She was a funny and humble, charming and lovely person. NO Maria Callas nonsense!
A prodigious virtuoso...
For those fans of the great Catalan trio of Caballé, Carrreras and Pons, look.up Massenet's "Herodiade" from the Liceu. Everyone at the height of their powers!
I was there and it was truly amazing. Herodiade should be performed more often. Problem is that it requires a cast similar to Don Carlo , so if you have such a cast available, you do Don Carlo
@@eddiebuenaventure3666 were you really? It was one of the first Liceu operas I was in. Great memories!
@@ritawing1064 that's really impressive my friend. Thank you for your experience. 💙🇫🇷🍷 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
@@arnoldamaral7406 yes, it was great! Cheers!
I will go find the recording. Thank you!!
WOW!
Did I hear that right, she replaced Marilyn Horne as Lucrezia?....I did not know Horne sang the title role of Lucrezia?
That's correct! - And when Horne heard her sing it, she decided she best leave the role alone! Which is why you never heard Marilyn sing it
@@ronronizetti2534 later Marilyn Horne said that it was career suicide to follow our Monsey. 💙🇫🇷🍷 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
Horne was a soprano till the mid 60s
It was as though the wind came out to play with her voice...
Caballe’s big break in the U.S. was as Lucrezia Borgia at Carnegie Hall and *not* the Metropolitan Opera as this film says. She sang at the Met not long after.
Thank God there are people who still have a bit of memory...
Caballe released her own documentary for facts to be accurate. SHE WAS NOT A MEZZO. The repertoires Caballe sang could not have been in her endless Diva roles if she were a mezzo! How embarrassing to reveal your Perspective which gathers your questionable knowledge of music and speaking of information not quite correct. The greatest soprano of the 20th century who carried a lead through that wonderful time 'The Golden Age of Opera.' We will never know a time as this ever and Montserrat Caballe will be listened to with fresh ears wondering who was this. RIP lovely Montserrat--you are missed. 🌹❤
Touché
Nobody today sings like she could and DID!
Interesting
She sang over 5000 performances in her career .
5000????? You mean 500. If it's ,5000 her voice would have died early.
Please do a perspective on soprano Alessandra Marc
Hi!
- How are you?South Korea/Seoul started the cold spell this week. The average temperature is -12'C. It snowed. I hope you have a healthy day this week. ^O^
Montserrat sang 'Lucretia Borgia' at Carnegie Hall, not the Met.
Norma is not a mezzo part with 15 high cs ??
Does anyone know the song/aria she sang here in the Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony
Sooo many things wrong in this doc! So many! 😮
Subtítulos en español
Was she at the Met or Carnegie Hall for Lucrezia Borgia?
Carnegie Hall my friend. Another mistake 🇫🇷🍷💙 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
Where can I get a soundtrack of the pieces used for this documentary?
You'll have to look for the Operas she recorded. Dunno for what label she worked, maybe Decca?
Her debut?? She replaced M. Horne in a Carnegie Hall performance "not" the Met. Opera. How? do you make this video and 'not' know the facts??
What asinine comments a lovely documentary generates.
Listening to them sing together...is proof of God as one within and through us...
O mio babbino caro
Sir can you please invite me to your funeral?
Underrated comment here.
Norma a Mezzo part?!?
Wäre eine deutsche Übersetzung möchlich.Danke🥴
This is poorly done. I wish people would do their research before they produce a documentary at this level. The greatest opera star of her era OUR MONTSE 👑 after our Maya 👑.The story about Corelli is so not true. This is an outrage indeed. 🇫🇷💙 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
After her death, catalonian goverments didn't do any tribute to commemorate her incredible gift ,just because she was not independentist.Poor ignorant people!
This is so poorly done. Having seen many films of her, where she speaks of what she feels, before I saw this, and have read the reviews of performances, she was very “human” warm Funny. a diva yes, often canceled for frivolous reasons, enjoyed life, came from poverty during the civil war in Spain, she lived a good life, very religious, various health problems, close family, grandparents took care of the kids, she wasn’t perfect but when she was “on” it was as near perfection as one could get. She could laugh at herself. Very much loved.
joan sutherland? who was better
Some inaccuracies along the documentary
Very poor documentary, with many mistakes and the words telling her story are rarely accompanied by the right images. Despite that, it’s always good go see and hear her.
in my opinion her voice was nicer than LA DIVINA,less elegant, but warmer!
Norma is not a mezzo soprano role!!!!!!
I adore Caballe..but her faith in Careras was misplaced..he was horrible from the very beginning....never deserved what he got.
Unconditional love don't judge something you know nothing about my friend. Jose Carreras would always say she was like a big sister to me and I will always listen to her when she scolded me. End of story 💙🍷🇫🇷 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
Carreras WAS wonderful in his youth. Unfortunately, he lost his voice early.
@@LyndaRae True.
Carreras should have stuck to the lyric repertoire and never took on roles in Carmen, Tosca, Andrea Chenier and all the other heavier repertoire. Traviata, Boheme, Rossini's Otello, Des Grieux of Massenet and other lyric parts suited his voice better
@@LyndaRae I think Leukemia and the treatment is what took the final toll on his voice. That and the heavier repertoire didn't help
I consider her the Lauri-Volpi of sopranos. Though a lyrico-spinto soprano, like Lauri-Volpi, she can perform heavy roles.
