There was an announcement to say Henry Cooper and Cassius Clay. We’re going to be on the radio in the bar. Sadly for the animals they lost their audience. We all went in the bar and I stood next to Eric Burdon from the animals and we thoroughly enjoyed the boxing match. Sadly, our Henry lost so we all went back in the dance hall. The animals got on the stage, and started playing again as if nothing had happened. Wow wow. Wow what a night that was absolutely brilliant. I am now 76 years old and remember it as if it was yesterday. Thank you to the glider drome. Thank you.
so glad you showed us the photo of your band, in all the years i've known you, i'e never seen you with HAIR, but then at your age, i doubt you remember having any.. loved seeing all the old equipment in the office, and some of it still working.. great walk around mate..
Well done Steve. Great memories from the Starlight Rooms. You mentioned the Small Faces incident and I seem to remember that, if memory serves me correct, didn't a similar incident happen when Free appeared there, some guy threw a glass at them from the balcony ? It happened next to where we were sitting. I started going to the Glider on the night that Amen Corner announced their last performance and saw all the top groups of the early 70's. Popular Glider favourites, then were Lindisfarne, The Strawbs & the Equals. Wish Going To The Dance was still published as well.

The Small Faces played twice and it was their 2nd visit when the ash tray got thrown. There used to be a steel band often playing in the bar
