I recently went back and watched various Steve Jobs interviews spanning between 1981 to 2008, and it was incredible to see how well they had aged. I think you're right, watching Sam Altman interviews back in a decade from now will be very interesting!
Connie (respectfully) seems to try desperately hard, to come out as "intelligent", but falls short. I've watched many interviews by her. Good personality, but doesn't match up to the intellect of people she interviews (mostly).
At around 17:00 she seems relieved that that he doesn't see a point in web3. Interesting, and yet he wants to address ubi using web3...very strange vibe.
Does Helion have a long term plan? (Besides a 50MW demonstrator plant in 2021 planned in 2018 for $200 million?) Why would Sam cut Helion that big a check when for a quarter of that he could have kept Microsoft out of Open-AI? That seems like a more worthy goal. 20-20 hindsight?
Please solve the poverty of third world countries, human starvation, abuse of work forces, child exploitation, climate change issues and pollutants used to make batteries before making planes go faster.
I don't think "food shortage" is the issue. But "equitable food distribution" certainly is. Rather than growing more crop, we need to look at issues like 'food wastage', food distribution, smart agriculture, more closely. The other issues mentioned are more to do with human nature, than anything else (fundamentally).
Chatgpt3 said it needed theoretical mathematics training to make original theoretical mathematic equations. Now I found that very interesting Whether that means something or not? I have no idea. However, it would be nice to have theoretical mathematical and physics tools. Like what it’s doing for the software guys.
You could made the case that If it slowly creaps in and getting more advanced slowly, the regulation making will not be triggered until it's already to late. And If there would be a fast shock moment when something advance d is released early, that it would only fxxk over a few and would trigger some strict regulation making moment. Obviously you could argue for anything.
Why Helion and not TAE, which is much older and had enough time to debug their approach? Why Helion specifically? TAE also creates 2 plasmas , also sends them towards collision, also uses FRC magnetic schema. I didn't get the answer.
Ahh. I hadn't heard of World Coin, but once I heard the scanning eyeball thing, I almost immediately assumed it was a proof of personhood thing combined with some sort of basic income idea. It is perhaps a shame that most similar ideas will have been sunk by the crypto crash and skepticism. Still intriguing, perhaps, but... we'll see.
People may not her interviewing but in part two she did a great job at pushing the limit as well as making sure to get get good questions from the guest these interviews are legendary
Sam is the non-awkward version of ZUckerberg...bonus point: zuckerberg uses PHP (which i used to adore) but then I discovered python...which is what sam seems to be a fan of as well.
If facebook has more access to user data than a retina scan could provide, why wouldnt you just use the existing data from facebook instead of trying to scan over 2.9 billion pairs of eyes.
What is very funny is that Mr.Altman knows that they already trained as of today GPT -8 in English, French, German, Russian and Chinese and is stellar. GPT 8 !
Two minutes in, already he has 1) admitted to taking delight in online trolling, and 2) admitted to not considering himself "a regular person." I'm left wondering if the remaining twenty minutes will be able convince me that this is the sort of person we want ushering in the next-level of conscious creature. AI is a potential existential threat; it is now one of the toughest problems in ethics as applied to our contemporary concerns, not just another Wikipedia we're trying to keep from becoming another 4-chan.
It's always great one the guy, who arguably is one of the if not the most technologically leading-edge in the world goes "I feel so old and disconnected". Yeah sure. Now where does that leave the rest of us...
Watched five minutes and hasn’t gotten to questions on core of AI things - disappointing. Recnetly, the Greylock and Elad Gil interviews of Sam Altman were fantastic - start there i think.
Who will deliver the power and energy in a sustainable way will matter - Not nuclear reactors or fossil fuels which have a negative impact on the Environment.
@@James-mk8jp Not sure why you think he is petty. As for arrogant... considering how much he has contributed via OpenAI and many of his investments/YC's evolution, I would say he has every right to be. That being said he has always come off humble. Your comment says a lot about you.

Interesting period in time. Looking forward to revisiting this video in a couple years.

following this thread
Sam Altman - Man of the Year 2023, easy prediction. Can you imagine if we had a president like Sam?
Seems like he’s that guy
The fact that he is openly gay, Chicago based, cute af and smart as hell makes me happy. Whoever is his boyfriend is lucky
13:26 - what a moment

Sam seems like a cool dude. Appreciate how he balances his thoughtfulness with humility.
he seems uncharacteristically anti-hype for a silicon valley college dropout who is this successful

WorldCoin is one of the worst ideas in crypto. No surprise SBF had his fingers in it too.
It’s weird because he has tweeted speaking very well a lot about web3 in 2021. Now he doesn’t really see a point in it? What’s going on lol
I hope Sams getting enough rest he does look a little tired
Seems quite thoughtful to me
Very thoughtful, just having some fun

Altman’s voice is more and more Elizabeth Holmes these days

The UBI is the bait they use to lure in naive fish. Listen to how they talk about decentralization and crypto in general.
Why does he talk like that??? That vocal fry is so unpleasant

Pretty sure part 2 is more about OpenAI. Remember, this is a VC-focused event, they're gonna cover all the VC stuff.
This interview is a joke. Interviewer is just ridiculous. She made absolutely wrong assumption and did a poor preparation.
And came across as both unprepared and unintelligent at times.

Is this interview about Sam AI or Sam's relationship and knowledge about Elon?
