Thank you for your kind words John, they are greatly appreciated. As far as the smile, I give credit to God, my mom, and my orthodontist. Merry Christmas, and thanks for watching. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I'm totally fascinated with bee keeping just from accidentally finding your channel a few months ago. I have since watched other bee videos but yours are the best in my opinion. Perfect length and the mix of stills and fast forward action is just right. Thank you Jeff!
It was no accident you found my channel, the bees were calling you. Thank you so much for your kind words, but there are many good bee channels on RUclips. I think I sub to about 10 of them, but thank you so much for choosing mine. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff has a buddy in Biloxi that has a channel too. "628 Dirt Rooster" I found him by watching Mr. Ed's channel. They have a very funny/friendly competition catching swarms and posting it about them. I have even seen them together on a couple of videos as well. They regularly go after each other in the comments. It's funny. Two great guys just posting what they love on RUclips. Check him out.
Wow.....I couldn't imagine how you came up with the title until I watched the video. Excellent work for the team. Well Done. A giant blessing & addition for "wreck it" Ralph. Have a blessed weekend guys. God is good.
wow! what a blessing! I got another call on the bee line, can you believe it, yellow jackets again! Thank you for the video Jeff! Another one of those Amazonia looking queens, haha! Peace and Grace to all!
Robert, I'm thinking that you may need to get a new phone number because the one you have right now is not working to good.Anyway, it way to hot to remove bees. Staying in the AC seems to bee a better option. I'm hoping I did my last one till October on Monday, and it was a good one....a wood duck box removal. You may not believe this, but I even made a video on it. I won't post it for a month or so, I have so many already ahead of it. Oh yeah, I caught the queen. Take care. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Your videos are my new You Tube obsession! LOL! I love what you are doing for the environment by saving these bees! Your enthusiasm for what you do is so contagious!
You are to kind with your words, I'm just a guy who really enjoys wrangling bees, and have a bunch of buddies that feel the same way. I hope you continue to watch as there are many more on the way. I'd love to hear from you on your thoughts of the videos. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I'm going to let you in on a big secret, I'm retired from the Post Office, and I do this because it's so much fun. There is no job here, it's all fun. I wish everyone could experience a cut out in person, it gives new perspective to a lot of things. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to do so. God' peace. Mr. Ed
This one was a big one, I was really glad Ralph was there with me on this one. They are some great bees and are doing wonderful at Ralph's place. God's peace. Mr. Ed
One of the perks I receive when I make videos, the blessings folks shower upon me, thank you VERY much for your gift. This was a large bee hive, and the comb pattern was spectacular. As always when I find the queen, I am in disbelief, that's why I always give thanks to God for the grace. Believe it or not, this particular removal was highlighted on an episode of Animal Planet's series Predators . It was in the 5th episode. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
One of the largest and certainly the prettiest comb of all of your videos that I've binged on, so far. Really a work of art. Your reference to coral is spot on. Hope not too many noticed the U.S. Postal bin there at the end. I've got one and know I was supposed to return it but they're kind of cool. This is my first comment since I've started watching. I really enjoy both your positive attitude and the rescue work that you're doing.
Thank you for your very kind words Brock, and I have every intention or returning the bin, I just don't know when yet. I agree, this may have been one of the prettiest comb configurations I've come across in my years of wrangling bees. Another interesting fact about this removal, it wound up making it's way on the Animal Planet channel. They saw the video and the story around it fit into one of their reality series and used my video in portraying certain parts of the coverage. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I had never seen a beekeeper transfer a hive until I saw your videos. It's especially cool to see how you move the bees with a vacuum. Keep up the good work, Mr Ed! :-)
Moving and saving bees, and helping out folks who have a bee problem is what we are all about. I hope you check out more of my videos and let me know your thoughts. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
When I first saw the comb, it reminded me of coral on a barrier reef, it was so white and wavey. I have to admit, this was some of the prettiest examples of wild honey comb. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
This was a very large hive, and I agree with you, the comb was BEAUTIFUL. This video got the attention of Animal Planet, and they will be using it on one of the episodes of their new series "Invaders." It starts this Sunday and the episode with this hive in it should air within a few more weeks. Till then, check out more of my bee adventures on my channel, there are over 200 of them and let me know what you think. Thanks for watching, and I hope to hear back from you again. God's peace. Mr. Ed
LOL WOW ! Those girls have been busy. Beautiful comb. With all of those robber bees, I suspect that you'll make a return visit to this trailer some day soon.
I see a lot of the new comb in the cut outs that I do, but this was the most I've seen in one hive. Beautiful! Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Those were the exact words I said when I first saw the size of this hive. And I agree, true testimony of the magnificence of our Creator. God's peace. Mr. Ed
If you like massive hives, check out these videos I have made: ruclips.net/video/F2QgYGi1tTQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/mjOlw-eRB0I/видео.html ruclips.net/video/lxGRyqHuOMg/видео.html Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I whole heartedly agree. When I see a bee hive this large and this beautiful, I can't help but see God's hand in it. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Did you notice all the white honey comb. We got over 9 gallons of honey from these bees and the queen to boot. What a great hive. Always a pleasure to see your name in the comments. God's peace. Mr. Ed
That's great, if you ever want to check out the be operation here at the abbey, just contact me at oscelata@gmail.com and we can do it. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
This hive was absolutely stunning in it's configuration, it looked like a coral reef. Also, this video made it to Animal planet a few years ago, and there was actual footage i shot on the segment. God's peace Adwina. Mr. Ed
Wow! Nice one. That's gonna make Ralph a nice hive. Too bad all cutouts aren't accessible with just a box knife. Do they still make Jiffy Pop? Another great video, thanks!
Don't you wish all your bees would make comb and honey like this hive, this was a really nice hive with some good genetics. You are right, Ralph got a good one. We might have been able to access the hive with a box knife, but it was still over head so we got the honey shower all day long. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Thanks Chris, I'm sorry we could not get together also, hopefully it will happen in the future. I subbed your channel to follow along with your adventures. Actually, it was just to see if you got stung as often as me. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Hey Peter! Just one queen per hive, and she was doing a really good job. That was a tough hive to remove because of its size, but like the saying goes, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Hey Jeff :) , yeah.. a really good job, better than some company manager, to keep all workers/drones keeping on work and managing so many combs and so on.. not everybody can do it. Did you get some honey there ? most of the combs was so white and looks so new .
We got over 8 gallons of honey, and I bet we spilled over 3 gallons cutting it out. Hence, all the robbing. You can't beat honey that is in virgin comb, that is the best stuff, and we had lot and lots of it. Lucky Mr. Ed and Ralph. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
sounds great and interesting ... i guess i´ve never tried that kind of honey before. yeah...that right with the luck and blessing for that result of tons of honey :)
When I first saw all that white comb, I thought of a coral reef i the tropics.....simply beautiful. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch my bee wrangling adventures and comment on them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I have done that process many times in the past, and on a video that will be posted in a few more weeks, I show it again. I hope you stay tuned, watch, and leave a comment on what you saw. God's peace. Mr. Ed
The wonder of it all! I LOVE watching you work! Reading about all the swarms you capture warms my heart! Watching you both as a team is inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing this big hive removal! What a huge, healthy population there! I am playing catch-up since I only discovered you a few days ago, but liked and subscribed. I'm looking forward to watching the next video! God bless you and your work!
Carolyn, the bees in this video were used as a story on Animal Planet. The series is entitled " Intruders " and it was episode #5. I was actually interviewed, and there were clips from this video in the episode, but I did not play myself in the dramatization of the event. In truth, it was pretty hoakie, but it still was fun. Keep up the binge! God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thank you brother, and thanks for the link to the story on the bees at the abbey. See you next Saturday when you stop by and purchase Abbee Honey from the gift shop. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You and Ralph did good on this one and it was a NICE one. While I was watching I was thinking, 'Yep, he'll burn the Rooster up with this and after it got done I looked down and yep, you did. Poor Rooster!
The guy is so used to me running over him, he has a shirt with the tire tracks already on it. This was a great hive, and Ralph has them going at his place. The accounts of this video will actually be on Animal Planet around Thanksgiving time. A company in the UK interviewed me a few months back and then made a story about it. I can hardly wait to see what they did with it. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Did they make you use a U.K accent?? That'll be interesting. Hellow, Ie'm Mistuh Edd! I'll fall over. Poor Rooster won't be able to handle it either. Two large younguns wheezing in the floor. But the Brits are a hardy lot. Get the Rooster to make a cameo appearance! Oi SAAAy, Hobbeh Bee Keeping is a waye of Lieefe, oeld Chahp! GBWYou Palley!!
This time it worked really nice. Even though there was the honey shower going on, the comb came out very easy. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to do so. God' peace. Mr. Ed
All you have to do now is join a bee club in your area and jump in. Keeping bees is a fantastic hobby, and on top of that, you get all the honey you can eat. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch my channel. God's peace. Mr. Ed
This comb reminded me of coral in the sea, real art, real beauty. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch and comment. God's peace Roberta. Mr. Ed
That may have been the largest removal I did this year, other than the CSI cut out in Slidell. We got over 9 gallons of honey on this one, and probable spilled another 3 or 4. We had the honey shower going on for most of the cut out. All in all, it was a great save, and the bees are doing wonderful up at Ralph's. God's peace Russ. Great to hear from you. Mr. Ed
I am happy to know that you see what I see. You'd make a great bee keeper. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out other bee videos on my channel and let me know what you think. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Ralph's a great guy, and he is just as passionate about bees as I am. I am blessed when he helps on these jobs. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
A robber bee is ANY bee that steals honey from another hive. All bees have the potential to be robber bees, all they need is the opportunity. Yes, if you vacuum the robber bees they will fight each other. Thant's why we stop vacuuming, you can't tell the difference. God's peace Cindy. Mr. Ed
When the bees are taking the honey before they swarm, they are still part of the same colony. That part is accounted for. Good question Cindy. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Ed keep up the good work, this info is next to impossible to find online. If I had seen this before I rescued a hive at my work I would have twice the bees right now. You’re awesome, and keep on spreading the truth of Jesus Christ! God Bless
I said the exact thing. That was some of the prettiest comb I saw all year long. In my opinion, a bee hive is a work of art. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch and comment. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I love the fact that you are doing a little Mr. Ed binge watching, thank you very much. I have over 200 more videos that you still need to check out, and of course I try to upload a new one every Friday. I'm looking forward to hearing from you again on other videos. God's peace Irene. Mr. Ed
Insn't nature amazing! And it's all for us humans to see, created by God for our enjoyment in this Garden of Eden called Earth in the middle of a dark, empty, and cold universe. Praise the Lord for this!!
I am happy to know that you see what I see. You'd make a great bee keeper. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out other bee videos on my channel and let me know what you think. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff oficial course i Will check your other vídeos. I really like bee keeping and honey hehehe. Keep making your excelent work. Good Lucky from Brazil ;)
I'm curious why it is important to isolate the queen rather than to just leave the queen in with all of the others when you vacuum them? Love the videos, I'm so hooked on watching them!
The main reason is for her saftey, I do not want to accidentally kill her. By keeping the queen safe, it insures the prospects of the hive to continue uninterrupted. I'm glad you like the video and I hhope you watch more of my bee adventures. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Besides being a guy of many talents, he has been confused by lots of folks as being someone else, Billy Oddy is just one of them. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thanks Mr Ed, between you and DirtRooster (cough) I have a lot of catching up to do, never done beekeeping before and want to build an apiary for next year, so all the excellent videos are helping, god bless
Thank you for your blessing Steven, I greatly appreciate it. I get a stomach ache every time I even think of the guy myself, you'd think it would get easier, but I think it's getting worse. I have a suggestion if you are planning to begin bee keeping, find a bee club in your area and join it. You will learn the specifics of keeping bees in the area you live in, and you will meet a bunch of great folks as well. Keep me posted on your progress. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Go for it, it really is rewarding. I would recommend you joining a bee club in the area you live in. Next to watching bee videos on RUclips, it's the best way to learn about keeping bees in the area of the country you live in. I wish you all the success. Keep me posted. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I feel so satisfied and I get the chills at the same time and I have never been stung so can you tell me what it feels like? By the way I love your videos. Thanks- aurora
I will try to describe a bee sting. Imagine getting slapped in your face. Now, if you could take the intensity of the pain from the broad area of your face, and focus it to the size of a pin head, and then put that on any area of your body, that's how I would describe a bee sting. I get stung almost every time I make a bee video, but I love doing it so much, that the threat of being stung pales to the satisfaction I get from wrangling bees. I hope you continue to watch my channel, and post comments. God's peace. Mr. Ed
And they did a fantastic job. I'm hiring them for the next removal/relocation. By the way, they were very reasonable in their rates. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my be wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff I try to watch all of yours and dirtroosters videos. I live in baldwin county Alabama so I watch localism guys to learn from y'all. Most of the bee keeping books and such I've read are more geared to northern climates. So I still read them but like to watch southern guys that I know are successful to learn from. That way when I get my hive I know as much as I can so I have them flourish
Thank you so much for the time you give watching my channel. You may want to check out Yappy the beeman's channel also, he lives in Alabama also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
👍Love your videos. But...😱 I just don't understand how bees "decide" to build the hive in such crazy places. What happened to bees making hives in trees? (like in Winnie The Pooh 🤣). And I don't understand how out of all of those 30K bees you are able to fine a single queen 🐝among soooo many other bees 🐝🐝 Absolutely A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!! 🤗💞🤗
There is a lot more room to build a hive under a trailer than in a hole in a tree trunk. Bees still build hives in trees, but if there is easy acess to a void in a building, they are more than happy to move in and set up camp..... permanently. As far as finding one bee in 30,000, that my friend is a grace of God. Always nice to see your name in the comment section. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I would have gotten out there sooner, but I had so many swarms to catch, every time I wanted to get to the bees, I got a swarm call. And you know very well, a swarm is a LOT easier to deal with than a full sized cut out. I can't help it, I'm a lazy guy. By the way, I caught over 30 swarms this year, how many did you catch? That swarm trophy is going to look really good in the honey hut. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I subscribed to your channel recently and just now found Jeffs channel and subscribed.. y'all have some good stuff!!! I appreciate yalls videos. I have a question for each of you .. Bow do y'all find so many cut outs and swarms? Do y'all advertise some kind of way? The reason that I asked is because I would like to build up some hives and try this in my area. Any help with this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks .....
You are to kind. Kayley, the bees in this video were used as a story on Animal Planet. The series is entitled " Intruders " and it was episode #5. I was actually interviewed, and there were clips from this video in the episode, but I did not play myself in the dramatization of the event. In truth, it was pretty hoakie, but it still was fun. Keep up the binge! God's peace. Mr. Ed
Very often, bees become very gentle after the initial invasion and it becomes safe to remove my veil. I would not recommend others to do as I do as it can bee very dangerous. Yes, the bees were very docile. Thanks for watching. God's peace Ruth. Mr. Ed
Bees do that all the time. An old hive vacates / dies, and another one moves in and starts building. Great question. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
OH JEFF!!!! #MBKGA Making Bee Keeping Great Again!! Smashing out big hive after big hive.... Are you tired of winning yet???? Even caged the queen!! I've heard DirtRooster is tired of culling yellow jackets and wants an apprenticeship... Not bagging the Rooster (he's one of my favourites) or trying to start no trouble.. Just sayin...
I gave the Rooster that line to help out his ratings. I even coached him on the pause part to get the full effect. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Were the robber bees a threat to the rest of the bees that you hadn't gathered yet? And how could you distinguish them from the original hive bees there
They are a threat if they get vacuumed with the hive bees, they will fight each other to the death. Because you can't distinguish a robber bee from a hive bee, once the robbing gets as bad as it was here, you have to stop vacuuming or risk losing all your hive bees that were vacuumed. Good question. Thanks for watching and asking. God's peace. Mr. Ed
No they are not, robber bees are bees from a different colony that are just looking for an easy way to get honey without working hard for it. ALL bees share this instinct. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I'm really happy you think so, and if you'd like, maybee you could check out some of my other videos. All my videos are about bees and some aspect of keeping them, but most are on removing and relocating them. I hope you check some of them out and let me know your thoughts on them. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
It does not matter if you didn't get it, you got it now and that's all that counts. I keep the bees for the monks at the abbey, and I just changed the spelling to bee fooling around. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Was that a BIG hive or what? The bees in this video were used as a story on Animal Planet. The series is entitled " Intruders " and it was episode #5. I was actually interviewed, and there were clips from this video in the episode, but I did not play myself in the dramatization of the event. In truth, it was pretty hoakie, but it still was fun. Keep up the binge! God's peace. Mr. Ed
This was a really big one. In fact, some of the footage I shot was used on Animal Planet a few years ago on one of their series. God's peace Mary Jane. Mr. Ed
The good news, at least for me, I won't be doing any more till October. Way to hot, and there is no netar flow. I really don't know how many I have done this year, but I would guess at least 15, but that is not counting swarms or swarm removals. Whatever the count is, it is all a blessing from God and I am greatful for it. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
All bees can be robber bees, it just takes the right situation. Once bees start to rob out a hive, it is mayhem, and it is almost impossible to stop. The best thing you can do is plug the entrance, but usually by then it already to late. I lost 4 or 5 hives this year due to robbing. Great question. God's peace. Mr. Ed
good God Almighty, that is a HUGE hive, I do have a couple of quick questions though, 1: how big is/was the biggest hive you have ever seen/gotten, and do you have a video of it? 2: how did you get into doing this? and 3: do/would/have/will you go to other states to remove bees and hives? 4: idk if you can answer this but just curious... why do wasp/hornet nests look like paper with the exception of the dirt dobbers nests which are mud? btw still love watching you do this it is awesome, honestly wish i could do this but i am terrified of bees since i am allergic
1.Here are the links to some of the largest removals I have done: ruclips.net/video/F2QgYGi1tTQ/видео.html ruclips.net/video/lxGRyqHuOMg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/WQUjr6vBFaA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/mjOlw-eRB0I/видео.html 2.I got interested in removing bees because it was a way to get free bees, now I do it because it's so much fun. 3.I do go to neighboring Mississippi and help my buddy the 628 Dirt Rooster with removals, but that's it. 50 miles is as far as I go. 4.I don't know. Maybe you could join a bee club in your area. You don't have to keep bees to learn about them, and you will meet some really great folks. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You have probably answered this multiple times but.......how do you know the robber bees from the original hive bees? Do they show up after all the hard work is done?
A robber bee is any bee from a different hive that comes to steal honey and bring it back to their hive. All bee are potential robber bees, all it takes is the right conditions to happen and they become robbers. For example, in this video, after the comb is removed from under the trailer, there is lots of honey all over the ground. This attracts bees from neighboring colonies, and they become robber bees. Thanks for watching. God's peace Jan. Mr. Ed
I'm a newbee to bee vids. A question: if you scrape/sand the wood a little bit (after the comb has been removed), would that deter future bees? OR, if you spray a natural repellant on the wood (dissolved dried Crysanthemum flowers and water), would that stop future batches of bees in old locations? The "Bee Hive House" probably needs crushed (dried) Crysanthemum flowers + enough water to make a pleasant-smelling paste to spread where swarms keep forming. A non-toxic, interesting experiment... ~.~ Cheers!
Hey Kathy, thank you so much for watching my channel, I really appreciate it. As far as your suggestions, I'm sure they would have some effect on bees returning, but to my knowledge, there is nothing natural, short of burning the place down, or commercially produced that permanently eliminates the return of bees to a former location.Once the bees have marked the place, it's like a light house on the water showing the way to home. I hope you keep on watching my channel and posting comments. God's peace. Mr. Ed
i have a problem... i love watching your videos and they're so calming but they also give me anxiety as right now there is a hive in the outside roofing next to my window... saw a bee in my bathroom earlier and it's freaking me out...
Claire, the videos are not what's giving you anxiety, the bee in the bathroom is. My suggestion, try and locate a bee keeper in your area and ask them to take a look at the situation. In the meantime, I would keep your window shut. I wish you well, and let me know how things go with this issue. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Yes it does. When I first saw this hive, it reminded me of a coral reef. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Yes we do, and that's why I have been saving bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and I plan on doing it for many more to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Keep on asking, you may catch me at a weak moment and I give in. But let me tell you, that willNEVWER fly with the Rooster. He even charges his own mother for honey. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I have plans to make a video on the bee vac that I use very soon, just a little while longer. And yes, this was a HUGH hive. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Nice cant wait. Im moving into my new house out in the sticks in 4 weeks and one of the first things Im doing is getting into bee keeping. I used to watch my grandpap when I was a kid and always wanted to follow in his footsteps but my living situation always prevented that. Love the channel!
Before you fall of the grid out in the sticks, find a bee club in your area and join it. It is one of the best ways of learning about keeping bees there is......next to watching bee videos on RUclips. Keep me posted on your progress. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Those "robber bees" are the roosters mechanical drone bees coming to spy on you. Have you processed the honey from this one yet? Curious to see how much you got. Blessings Jeff!!
Hey Paul, we got over 9 gallons of honey from these girls, we spilled a gallon or more removing the hive, and we put well over 2 gallons in the hive to survive on. This was a GREAT colony. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Ponchatoula is just a few miles north of Maurepas, and I've gotten bees from both places. South Louisiana is a GREAT place, especially if you are a bee wrangler. By the way, this video was used on the Animal Planet 2 years ago. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
That queen is doing great along with all the rest of the bees. This was a BIG hive, glad wreck it Ralph was there with me on this one. God's peace Jaci. Mr. Ed
hello! Amazing videos! Thanks for sharing. I'm doing some research on bee nest cavities and how they occupy them, while keep going with my beekeeping activities and I'm experimenting a little bit. I wanted to ask, did you ever had the chance to measure the space between comb's centers? Thanks
I'm glad you liked the video, but I do not understand your question about the space between the comb's center. Could you help to understand what you mean? Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
as many clips that I have seen you post you are constantly talking about robbing bee's. because of you I am trying this slight of hand trick to get rid of fire ants( piss ants ) naturally from around any hive that I have or my friend's have. I am experimenting with taking a shovel full of fire ants from a different colony and throw them onto the host colony and let them fight to the finish. oddly enough.....it's working. nothing left but dead ants in the grasp of their prey. thanks for the tip showing robber bee's.
One of my first take outs was under a trailer like this . It was almost 100*F and as humid as coastal NC usually is. The bees got incredibly mean too. It was 11' long! How much honey do you estimate came out of this one? How about the brood, or non honey comb? looks like enough for 2-10 frame deeps?? Vacuum up those robber bees :) extra bee! Robbing is a huge problem here too and I seem to lose a hive or three every year because I forget to reduce the entrance.
Anytime the temp goes over 80 degrees, it's to hot for me to remove bees. I could not even imagine doing it in 90 plus temps. We got over 8 gallons from these girls not including the 8 frames we gave to them or the gallon or so that got spilled while doing the removal. We framed up 9 frames of brood on this one, the queen was a real layer. I lost 3 hives this summer due to robbing, it happens to all of us. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch bee videos on my channel. God's peace. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff 90 degF is nothing. In summer one year I was by the Red Sea, and one day the weather was like an incinerator: air temperature 52 degC = 124 degF :: hundred-and-teens degF and further!
Love your enthusiasm and huge smile. Thanks again MR. ED!
Holy smokes! What a work of art that hive was! Amazing...
I just love watching you'd show...you treat the bees so well...thank you and G-D BLESS
Thank you so much. I love saving bees and helping folks who have bee issues out. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Wow.....I couldn't imagine how you came up with the title until I watched the video. Excellent work for the team. Well Done. A giant blessing & addition for "wreck it" Ralph. Have a blessed weekend guys. God is good.
Thanks so much for the kind words Mick, it was a fun job. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
My first thought was.. one heck of a queen. And then. You showed the queen. Wow!!! Beautiful hive.
When I first saw the hive it reminded me of coral in the sea, simply beautiful. Thanks for watching. God's peace Rhaine.
Mr. Ed
Thanks again, Mr. Ed!!!! Amazing footage!
It was our pleasure to help you out Alexis. You have my # if you should need me. God's peace. Mr. Ed
wow! what a blessing!
Mr. Ed
Mr Ed, you have the best job in the world. That hive is so majestic, talk about the beauty of nature....
God' peace. Mr. Ed
Beautiful hive. Great job Mr. Ed and Wreck-it Ralph! Nice find on the queen too!
This one was a big one, I was really glad Ralph was there with me on this one. They are some great bees and are doing wonderful at Ralph's place. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Wow! Big hive. That has to be fun especially to find the queen. God bless and thanks for the awesome video's.
Mr. Ed
Well dang, my birthday is today, a new video from one of my favorite channels was a great present :)
Lovely work ❤
Happy Birthday Leigh, I hope you enjoyed the present I sent you.....this video. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr.
Mr. Ed
WOW. That was one huge and productive colony. There is so much brood. God bless you. JJ:)
Yes it was, and they are doing very well at Ralph's bee yard. Thank you as always for your blessing JJ. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
What a beautiful comb!!! I can tell that those ladies are just doing such good work.
When I first saw the comb, it reminded me of coral on a barrier reef, it was so white and wavey. I have to admit, this was some of the prettiest examples of wild honey comb. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
God that was beautiful Hive, awesome work Jeff, I can't stop watching man.
Mr. Ed
Awesome video Mr ED.
Great clean up.
Thank you so much for your kind words and watching, I hope you continue to do so and comment. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
That is one crazy beautiful hive!
I could not have said it better. God's peace Juliana. Mr. Ed
LOL WOW ! Those girls have been busy.
Beautiful comb.
With all of those robber bees, I suspect that you'll make a return visit to this trailer some day soon.
That's some good looking fresh comb right there. Great video.
I see a lot of the new comb in the cut outs that I do, but this was the most I've seen in one hive. Beautiful! Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I love watching your videos!!
So now you have to tell me what you like about them. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Wow that looks so beautiful the way the bees build is mind blowing
They are true artists. God's peace Jeff.
Mr. Ed
Wowie Zakoowie! That's a big one! Just marveling at the beauty of God's handiwork. 😊
Those were the exact words I said when I first saw the size of this hive. And I agree, true testimony of the magnificence of our Creator. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Wow, thanks for posting, what a hive !!!!!!!!
One of the biggest we did this year. A real marvel. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
thats a massive hive! love the Video Mr. Ed
If you like massive hives, check out these videos I have made:

Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Wow... God's creation is so beautiful.
I whole heartedly agree. When I see a bee hive this large and this beautiful, I can't help but see God's hand in it. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
very impressive comb...great jiffy pop analogy
Did you notice all the white honey comb. We got over 9 gallons of honey from these bees and the queen to boot. What a great hive. Always a pleasure to see your name in the comments. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Love your videos! I'm from Hammond so I see you're just right down the road from me, which is cool. Great work
That's great, if you ever want to check out the be operation here at the abbey, just contact me at oscelata@gmail.com and we can do it. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Amazing structure... I'd love to find a bee hive.. best wishes Mr Ed from Co. Dublin, Ireland xx :-)
Mr. Ed
Bees..such a majestic creatures
Yes they are, truly amazing. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Great removal Jeff. It was good to talk to you on the phone the other day. Sorry we couldn't meet up while I was down enjoying Louisiana.
Thanks Chris, I'm sorry we could not get together also, hopefully it will happen in the future. I subbed your channel to follow along with your adventures. Actually, it was just to see if you got stung as often as me. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
that a big hive ..i´m just surprised that just one queen will manage that big bunch of bee´s ? :o
Nice work and catch again, and some good honey too.
Aww this hive looked too beautiful to deconstruct
When I first saw all that white comb, I thought of a coral reef i the tropics.....simply beautiful. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch my bee wrangling adventures and comment on them. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Would love to watch your process of combining the vac bees into the brood box. Love all your videos.
I have done that process many times in the past, and on a video that will be posted in a few more weeks, I show it again. I hope you stay tuned, watch, and leave a comment on what you saw. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
looks like a good place for swam traps. i saw a guy on here caught a bunch of robber bees and put in a queen cell and started a hive
I will be placing some there next year, you can beelieve that. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr.
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff checking out Animal Planet now...Grace, be with you, and peace from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, brother!
Wow that is an exciting find
Yes it was, along with about 7 gallons of honey. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
wow nice hive!
This hive was actually on an episode of Animal Planet a few weeks ago. The series is called " Intruders " and it was episode #5. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Keep up the good work MR ED 👍🏻
Thank you brother, and thanks for the link to the story on the bees at the abbey. See you next Saturday when you stop by and purchase Abbee Honey from the gift shop. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I love how passionate you are about this 😍 I want to own bees.
Join a bee club in your area and keep watching bee videos on RUclips, that's how I cut my teeth. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
"Looks like jiffy popcorn", in my nightmares!
Well, at least you had something to munch on during the nightmare. God's peace brother. Mr.
Love the way you cut that comb out
This time it worked really nice. Even though there was the honey shower going on, the comb came out very easy. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to do so. God' peace. Mr. Ed
Ive seen others butcher the comb up so badly and have honet just dripping all over the place but you take your time and really neat cutting it out
Thanks for the compliment. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Love your videos, you definitely got me interested in beekeeping
All you have to do now is join a bee club in your area and jump in. Keeping bees is a fantastic hobby, and on top of that, you get all the honey you can eat. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch my channel. God's peace. Mr. Ed
AMAZING! nature is BEAUTIFUL
This comb reminded me of coral in the sea, real art, real beauty. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch and comment. God's peace Roberta.
Mr. Ed
That had to have been a two queen hive! A monster hive for sure.
Mr. Ed
So beautiful, a true miracle of nature ❤❤
I am happy to know that you see what I see. You'd make a great bee keeper. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out other bee videos on my channel and let me know what you think. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Yey got to see Ralph great video as always x
Ralph's a great guy, and he is just as passionate about bees as I am. I am blessed when he helps on these jobs. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Fantastic. Nicely done
Mr. Jeff, when a hive swarms, do they take the honey with them? Why wouldn't the remaining colony prevent that kind of robbing?
So the robber bees are bees from someone else's hive? What would happen if you vacuumed them up? Would the other bees kill them?
Thanks Tim, this one was another one for the books. I'm really happy everything went well. God's peace brother.
Mr.
God Bless
Thank you so much for your blessing and words of support of my efforts of spreading the truth of Jesus. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Beautiful! It looks like sea coral
I said the exact thing. That was some of the prettiest comb I saw all year long. In my opinion, a bee hive is a work of art. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch and comment. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Mr Ed that's a lot of bees.It almost looks like a swarm the way it is hanging.
It's a big one for sure. This video was used on an Animal Planet show, pretty cool. God's peace Keith.
Mr. Ed
Wow! From Liverpool in England!
I'm with you on this one, give God the glory for His creation! God's peace.
Mr. Ed
that queen is huge!! I wonder what the biggest queen you've caught is? you know what I'm going to Google how big they can get now. Thanks
She was a large one, but I doubt she was the largest I've seen. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Omg its so beautiful those bees
I am happy to know that you see what I see. You'd make a great bee keeper. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out other bee videos on my channel and let me know what you think. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff oficial course i Will check your other vídeos. I really like bee keeping and honey hehehe. Keep making your excelent work. Good Lucky from Brazil ;)
Thank you Bruno, and I will bee watching for name to appear in the comment section on my channel. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
I love 🐝 a lot
I'm curious why it is important to isolate the queen rather than to just leave the queen in with all of the others when you vacuum them? Love the videos, I'm so hooked on watching them!
The main reason is for her saftey, I do not want to accidentally kill her. By keeping the queen safe, it insures the prospects of the hive to continue uninterrupted. I'm glad you like the video and I hhope you watch more of my bee adventures. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
gorgeous
I agree, the comb configuration looked like coral in the sea to me. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Racket Ralph looks like Bill Oddy from the Goodies
Mr. Ed
I want to be a bee keeper now it seems very rewarding.
Mr. Ed
They were just helping you clean up. You know, it's the neighborly thing to do. Lol
Mr. Ed
Nice work.
Thank you, and I hope you check out other of my videos and let me know what you thought of them.
Mr. Ed
Dude if you didn't take so long to get out there these hives wouldn't get out of hand like this. ;)
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff is the swarm whisperer....lol
I subscribed to your channel recently and just now found Jeffs channel and subscribed.. y'all have some good stuff!!! I appreciate yalls videos. I have a question for each of you .. Bow do y'all find so many cut outs and swarms? Do y'all advertise some kind of way? The reason that I asked is because I would like to build up some hives and try this in my area. Any help with this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks .....
I love the "rivalry", y'all are so cute :)
That poor old gray headed youngun has NO couth. Nary a drap! Go get some bacon and you'll feel better! GBWYou TOO!
great video you deserve way more subs
You are to kind. Kayley, the bees in this video were used as a story on Animal Planet. The series is entitled " Intruders " and it was episode #5. I was actually interviewed, and there were clips from this video in the episode, but I did not play myself in the dramatization of the event. In truth, it was pretty hoakie, but it still was fun. Keep up the binge! God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I love honey.
It's the main reason I became a bee keeper, I eat a lot of it. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Wow! That's alot of bees! You didn't wear a bee hat today? How did you figure it safe to do without that?! They were pretty docile bees?
Very often, bees become very gentle after the initial invasion and it becomes safe to remove my veil. I would not recommend others to do as I do as it can bee very dangerous. Yes, the bees were very docile. Thanks for watching. God's peace Ruth.
Mr. Ed
Will a new queen colonize another queens old hive area?
Bees do that all the time. An old hive vacates / dies, and another one moves in and starts building. Great question. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
OH JEFF!!!! #MBKGA Making Bee Keeping Great Again!! Smashing out big hive after big hive.... Are you tired of winning yet???? Even caged the queen!!
I've heard DirtRooster is tired of culling yellow jackets and wants an apprenticeship... Not bagging the Rooster (he's one of my favourites) or trying to start no trouble.. Just sayin...
Joe shit the rag man "Where hobby beekeeping is a way of (pause) life."
Preston Covell Jeff needs an opener too!! Something like "Catching monster hives (pause) is what we do."
That's the same old raggedy queen he took with him on the last cut out.
I gave the Rooster that line to help out his ratings. I even coached him on the pause part to get the full effect. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I'm sticking with " Hello Mr. Ed here", i've been hearing that for over 30 years, and now I can't get rid of it. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Wow that has some size to it!
This one was hugh, but there are other ones in the list that are just as big. Thanks for watching God's peace.
Mr.
Mr. Ed
This is something I was also curious about. I know now, thanks.
Pero qué linda Colmena Saludos amigo
El peine es muy hermoso, casi como el coral en el océano. Hermano de la paz de dios
Sr. Ed
Mr Ed, You often refer to robber bees but surely most of them are just stragglers from the original nest?
No they are not, robber bees are bees from a different colony that are just looking for an easy way to get honey without working hard for it. ALL bees share this instinct. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
woaaaah this is awesome 😮
I'm really happy you think so, and if you'd like, maybee you could check out some of my other videos. All my videos are about bees and some aspect of keeping them, but most are on removing and relocating them. I hope you check some of them out and let me know your thoughts on them. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I feel so dumb. I just got the pun of Abby (a bees) honey bees.
MagicianFairy google "The Abby Louisiana"
It does not matter if you didn't get it, you got it now and that's all that counts. I keep the bees for the monks at the abbey, and I just changed the spelling to bee fooling around. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
www.saintjoseph abbey.com That's the web page for the abbey. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff What a beautiful abbey and so close to New Orleans, is it really like in NCIS New Orleans, aways parties and street festivals?
I missed the pun. OK. What I think is cool is the term, "Jiffy Pop Bees" Amazing!!
God Save the Queen
Was that a BIG hive or what? The bees in this video were used as a story on Animal Planet. The series is entitled " Intruders " and it was episode #5. I was actually interviewed, and there were clips from this video in the episode, but I did not play myself in the dramatization of the event. In truth, it was pretty hoakie, but it still was fun. Keep up the binge! God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Wow!
This was a really big one. In fact, some of the footage I shot was used on Animal Planet a few years ago on one of their series. God's peace Mary Jane.
Mr. Ed
Jeff how many cut outs you going to do this year. I think your going out and turning hives loose into all those places .lol good job
Mr. Ed
How does a 'robber bee' differ from a regular bee? Just regular bees from other hives?
1.Here are the links to some of the largest removals I have done:
ruclips.net/video/F2QgYGi1tTQ/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/lxGRyqHuOMg/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/WQUjr6vBFaA/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/mjOlw-eRB0I/видео.html
2.I got interested in removing bees because it was a way to get free bees, now I do it because it's so much fun.
Cheers!
Mr. Ed
Looks like 3D sonar imaging.
Yes it does. When I first saw this hive, it reminded me of a coral reef. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
We need them
Yes we do, and that's why I have been saving bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and I plan on doing it for many more to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff God bless you old son
Since you got all that free comb and free bees, maybe this would be a good time to send that comb to me. I bet dirtrooster would if i asked.
Keep on asking, you may catch me at a weak moment and I give in. But let me tell you, that willNEVWER fly with the Rooster. He even charges his own mother for honey. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
now thats a big hive!!
Mr Ed can you do a video on your bee vacuum? Is there anything special about it to keep from killing the bees?
Mr. Ed
How'd you disperse the robber bees at the end?
I did not, I let them rob all the spilt honey.....it's a good thing. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
He said Newbys. Which to say aren't Nukes. 😃
But they are related to each other....I recommend newbees buy nucs to start bee keeping. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr.
Mr. Ed
Ponchatoula? I lived in Maurepas in 1980 not far from there!
Ponchatoula is just a few miles north of Maurepas, and I've gotten bees from both places. South Louisiana is a GREAT place, especially if you are a bee wrangler. By the way, this video was used on the Animal Planet 2 years ago. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff Bees Very beautiful ♥️
Is she going to be ok or did she get hurt when she fell?
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff i mean the bee space between combs and the combs width, did you ever measure those?
I never did any measuring, I just count bees on frames to determine the strength of the hive. If that looks good, I close it up.
I have heard of the method you used and told it does work. Your comment gives confirmation to what I've heard, way to go Carl. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
