The papaya beef salad is what I grew up eating over 20 years ago. That might be my most favorite dish in Vietnam.
Bánh bột chiên is a Vietnamese fried rice flour cake with egg which is made of rice flour and tapioca starch. One of my favorite dishes.
Thanks for sharing! It’s fantastic. One of our favourite dishes we’ve ever had while travelling. So underrated!
Glad you guy are back in Vietnam been following you guy for couple of yrs, keep motivate and great work there are more to explore ❤❤
Thank you! So great to explore Vietnam, we love it. ☺️ cheers!
Papaya salad with beef, and liver jerky. 2nd dishes fried taro covered in rice flour with egg. The sauce is soy sauce with vinegar, sugar, water, and daikon.
Chào mừng các bạn đến với Việt Nam, chúc các bạn có những ngày vui vẻ
The white stringy at 14:17 isn't daikon, it's green papaya, and the "fry egg potato" is called "Bột chiên" and it doesn't have potato in it, "the cake" is the mixture of rice flour, sticky-rice flour and tapioca flour and the sauce is soy sauce, water, black vinegar and sugar mix together. You guys definitly missed these dishes at 2 famous spot in Sai Gon, the beef jerky salad at Le Van Tam park and the "Bột chiên Nguyễn Kim" near Nhật Tảo electronics market. But in Sai Gon, the green papaya salads usually served with rice cracker, and the "Bột chiên" served with green papaya, maybe because this is Đà Lạt's style.
Oh no way! Thank you, that’s super helpful. It was an interesting textured papaya that we’ve never had before. We will have to try those places if we go back ☺️
Cám ơn các bạn rất nhiều ❤
OK cám ơn em ❤❤❤
There will be many surprises about Vietnamese cuisine that you will have to find a way to discover. Vietnamese cuisine is number 1 in the world!
Welcome to my Country !
Welcome to VIETNAM..........
I enjoy watching you two in Vietnam trying out different delicious foods. Thank you for sharing these videos with us.
Our pleasure! We are so glad you enjoy our videos ❤️
It is green papaya beef jerky salad that you had. There is a famous spot in D.3 in Saigon for that dish too :)
Try the beef jerky salad near Le Van Tam Park next time you’re back in Sai Gon. It’s top notch 👌
There are different types of fried flour. They're either mixed with taro or daikon or both. What makes them good is the intense heat that caramelized the outside while the moisture and flavors are retained inside. The salad dish is shredded green papaya with jerky and fried liver. There's another version of this salad can be found further south in the Mekong delta where they'd replace papaya with shredded green mango, and sometimes they replace fried liver with tenderized dried shrimps. I prefer the mango version, it's much much better.
These 2 dishes are my favorite.
Love watching your videos. So much energy, so much fun. Have more fun and please post more videos.
Thanks
I am the same as you!!! It’s all about that perfect bite!!!! 100% likes
Yessss! Gotta love that perfect bite 🤙🏼
The ‘daikon’ dish that you had with the ‘dried beef’ is papaya and dried sautéed liver. This is my most favorite dish.
It’s incredible, so so delicious 😍
@@ChaseandShelbs next, you can try the other version with the fish sauce. I think the one you had was with soy sauce. There’s also a Thai and Lao version. The latter has crab paste in it. I’m addicted to them all!
Love the commentary guys.
The salad you guys were enjoying in the video called green papaya salad mixed with Vietnamese mint and offal beef jerky with the kind of vinegar dressing 😊 Just FYI!!! Thank you for wonderful videos you got there to introduce our beautiful Dalat!!!
Thank you! Such tasty dishes. And our pleasure. We are happy to be able to showcase and explore this beautiful place 😍
that look yummy, I pretty sure is green papaya salad
Thks for committing to the bahn mi guys. Very important business 🙌😂
You can take agrab home for a few dollars right chase? Never be worried about getting home, just enjoy the journey 😎
😂😂😂 when Shelby walked in and pointed at the pot, I thought she was going say " how much is the whole pot? Or do you have cooking class for this dish?".
Hahahah that would have been good. 😂
my first time seeing non-vietnamese ate Goi du du - papaya, beef, herb,... This is good snack, salad
I love vietnamese food
Most yogurt in VN are made with sweetened condensed milk (stuff that goes into the coffee). So it’s less tart & gives it a slightly different flavor/
Oh good to know! It tastes so much better. I love the sweet over the super tart yogurt. Not a fan of Greek yogurt at all. 🤢
im craving papaya salad Chase is very sweet person
He is but Shelbs can eat 🤦♀️not much chance for chase. Gal loves her grub 💕
You’ve said this a couple times 🤪 Chase actually a ton of the food we get once I’ve reviewed it first. He also gets what ever he wants (not filmed) if he’s still hungry and sometimes even eats before we film. I’m tend to be better at describing food so he always eats after and is actually more comfortable eating second after I’ve explained the food. Hopefully you can understand a little more where we come from/our filming style and what works best for us! @yvettedale6072

@@ChaseandShelbs I’m only jealous cuz I got a stomach like a walnut 😂I’d give anything to enjoy food like you do. 💕
It’s a curse haha! 😂but a lot of the time if I eat a lot I’ll eat light for the rest of the day! It’s all about balance 🩷
If you guys liked the Banh Mi Xiu Mai, then you'll love Bo Ne. It's a hot plate with beef, eggs, pate, etc. eaten with baguette. So good!
Sugar cane is so healthy for you! It's not sugar as in refined sugar! It's full of minerals and the sugar feeds your brain and muscles! It's also diuretic cleansing your kidneys and bladder! + it's a bit laxative to keep your bowels moving 💩🤌💯
Oh yeah
You should try coconut water with kumquat, so fresh and sweet enough
Oh sounds yummy. We will keep an eye out ☺️
Ask them “ cho thêm ngọt “ extra sweet.😄 you guys are fun!! Have a great time!!
Good luck! L❤VE YOU! From Vietnamese and Australia ❤ 🌝😋🥰
The forest in Da Lat is being flattened to make way for commercial and residential buildings so it's great that you go now. The temperature used to be cool
Papaya salad with jerky. Love love your videos and vibe not boring at all .... That is actually where i was born and i love it there i can't do Saigon too hot... there is a place that has udon noodle that i am obsessed with. Banh canh phan rang its right on the street where you enter dalat.... enjoy your stay.
That’s a huge compliment haha thank you! We truly hope we are interesting and not boring because that’s never fun, so thanks! 😂🩷 That dish sounds amazing! We will have to look into it if we are in dalat again.
That Xiu Mại bowl would cost at least $15 in a nice restaurant in the US.
Stop by Nha Trang when you can. It's a really nice coastal city that got turned into a tourist destination. Next to the beach, cool breeze, and no mosquitoes.
A dish many times will become familiar. Within a month, the food in Vietnam will taste better
what you guys eating is dry beef papaya salad
I love the unriped papaya with dried pork dishes that you had😊 That’s vietnamese teen favorite snack
It’s incredible! So light and fresh. It would be perfect on a super hot day ❤️
That is green papaya and the “dried beef/beef jerky” is made out of cow lung. I just recently found out from a food blogger, who interviewed the vendor. I believe he is right given how expensive beef is in Vietnam. There is no way the vendor can make a profit if she uses beef.
FYI-"Xiu Mai" is a "borrowed" word from Chinese's. This is a Vietnamese version of that dish.
The Salad you order was "Gỏi Khô Bò" which means "Beef Jerky Salad". And the vegeteble in there was young papaya. Vietnamese people love the sour flavour and the crunchiness from young mangos or young papaya. They even make pickle with young papaya to have it as a side dish when you having BBQ or fried things. So gooooood 🤓😜
We love it just the same to! So many amazing flavours 😍 we are craving it right now.
People in the south also eat xíu mại with rice noodles. It’s wonderful.
Oh yum! That sounds amazing
Việt nam luôn chào đón các bạn, tôi rất vui vì các bạn khám phá và yêu thích Việt nam.❤️🙏
Thank you 🥰🥰
green papaya beef salad
Vlog của bạn rất chân thật và tự nhiên , video rất hay hãy tiếp tục như vậy nhé … Việt Nam còn rất rất nhiều nơi thú vị để các bạn khám phá đấy ❤❤❤
It call Bot Chien ( soy sauce and vinegar)you can find it in Sai Gon
Papaya , basil. And beef jerky

Món ăn yêu thích thời tuổi thơ của tôi trước khi đi học .
I love their PHO and RICE PAPER ROLLS.. Had lots in Melbourne..
BUN Mi BBQ PORK ROLLS Dear...
Cheers from #pollachi Town #coimbatore District #Tamilnadu
Yes those are all soooo good. We love Vietnamese food!
I miss it Dears ❤❤@@ChaseandShelbs
The other dish you had is called “bot chien” …. Literally fried batter with eggs … another common snack food … especially in the South & available throughout Saigon 😊
It’s the best everrr!! Our fave Vietnamese dish wow 😍
HI Chase and Shelbs. Absolutely love meatballs. I would have gotten a 2nd bowl. I really want to try sugar cane juice Chase. 2ND place looked OK. Yum Banh MI. Excellent all around
Us too! honestly we probably would have but we tend to like to taste the whole street as we walk along.. 😂 food is just too good!
Most viet dipping sauce are either concentrated fish or soy sauce mixed with water, sugar and vinegar and in the case of fish sauce, garlic, so they are slurpable.
Everytime i have hollyday in Dalat, or Sapa, or Tam Dao, or in Northern's winter, I feel food tatste better compare to try it in hot weather! Especially try a hot milk coffee in a small chair by the lake!
Yes holidays are so much more enjoyable when the temperature is cool and not hot. ☺️ that sounds super nice! We will have to try that for sure.
you are so so so pretty you know, i love your smileee
Thank you ❤️❤️
18:31 idk what is this in English. But this is not potato for sure. It is fried flour cake😅
We figured that out later 😂🤪
Probably it's fried cauliflower, i used to make it at home.
There are actually 2 ways to eat Sui Mai ( Vietnamese version meatballs vs Chinese version dumplings ) written on the shop sign :
Siu Mai Chen = Siu Mai in a bowl and you dip the bread in it .
Banh Mi Siu Mai O = Sui Mai in a bread like a sandwich .
Nuoc Mia Ly Lon = Big Size Sugar Cane juice ( Ly Lon = Big Glass ) . The Calamansi or Kum Kat is always added to the sugar cane juice to enhance its flavor. If you don't want that flavor you have to say " Khong Tac or Khong Quât ".
Sugar cane juice is definitely NOT GOOD at all for diabetic people , but is good for refreshing your body in tropical countries. It's actually green papaya in the beef jerky salad ( Goi Du Du Bo Kho in Vietnamese ) and the mixed fish sauce dip . It's not fried potato omelet but fried rice flour cake omelet ( Banh Bot Chiên Trung ). The black sauce is made of soy sauce , black or red vinegar , sugar and some exotic spices .
Chúc các bạn có một chuyến đi vui vẻ
There is no potato in that dish. It is deep fried batter with egg on top.
that may be cauliflower, the Vietnamese people love to mix cauliflower and eggs together and deep fry them i know because i am a vietnamese myself and i eat that all the times
bot chien is the name of the 2nd dish.
It’s the best!!!
VÀ HỌ ĐÃ THẤY ĐƯỢC RẰNG ĐIỀU ĐÓ LÀ QUÁ TỐT VỚI HỌ. 😍😘😋😁😁😁😂😂😂
We have a joke in southern vietnam, when you buy Nuoc Mia from these ladies, you say "please can I have it none sweet, no sugar", and they'll get mad or laugh so hard back at you.
Google translation “fried flour” is correct bc vietnamese calls “bột chiên”. However, the correct name for the dish is “bánh bột chiên” (fried flour cake), they just ignore “bánh”(cake) when sâythe dish. The one you had is just rice flour & gluten flour. No taro in it. With taro we will it greyish not white. Here is how it’s made: ruclips.net/video/q7is9fGsGuw/видео.htmlsi=Xc_jKS7UYMbZUMHt
Lemon+ginger Sugarcane juice Please avoid the ice .. its not good...
Yes its a sports drink 1 litre for a week its enough BUT Please do not add ice..
INdia has lots of Flavours in SUGARCANE Juice.. Its good for the LIVER and KIDNEYS...
Trust me, on a hot day, sugarcane juice with ice will take you to a new level :)
@@LazzyMan-mp5by But its not good for the human body... This is what thay do to sell more sugarcane... Except Ice cream and yoghurt...
If you rely on taste... its not the health you are concerned.. Tender coconuts and sugarcane juice must be consumed in room temperature... So the flavour retains..Ice DILUTES. This is Natural Sugar drink than COFFEE or RED BULL but in Moderation...
Dried beef papaya salad.
New fave 🔥
The salad dish is young papaya😊
Thank you ☺️
What you guy ate today and It's called Papaya Salad
Thank you! We loved it.
I am Vietnamese 🇻🇳
What are you nationality?
Are you love Vietnam ?
I hope you have an idea how much you enjoy traveling in Vietnam the most in the world
tuyệt
I think that’s rice flour and then they baked and fried it with eggs.
It is Green Papaya Salad not Daikon
2 ban da tro lai Vietnam???
HOW COME U DID NOT ORDER FOR TWO PERSONS ?
Because they eat so much & enjoy different foods
1 dish, more food more often. If we ordered 2 we would will up too quickly!
Say Vietnam right!!
Different pronunciation depending on the region. 🫠
Sugar in sugarcanes is better than coke .
❤

Do Canadians pronounce herb with a clear sound of letter h like English people? Americans say erbs.
Yes we say Herbs and pronounce the H clearly :)
Hey guys how are you
So great, how are you. Sending lots of love 😍❤️❤️
It call bot chien
Vietnamese or Asian dessert is not as sweet as western dessert. Some westerners like it some dont and it’s understandable . Try eating a cake from an Asian bakery vs a cake from Costco or cheesecake factory and you can spot the big difference In sweetness.
Yeah we won’t lie, we have a big sweet tooth haha! It’s our western roots for sure☺️
*_Chào Chase and Shelbs ăn bánh mì xíu mại_* !
Eat like french dip from Arby's
30k = $1.25 USD for meatballs and bread is insanely cheap!
You can’t even buy anything for $1.25 anymore.
It’s honestly wild! 🤯
I don't understand why it has become trend among all cultures that food vloggers must use the photo of them gobbling food in a very ugly manner to use it as their thumbnails.
Why not just let people do what they want? Does it bother you that much. if it does then maybe that’s something you need to dive deeper into.
Also it works, food works, it got you to click and comment so it must be working! We truly hope you have a great life and don’t let these small things ruin your day 🫶🏼
Love you guys from India
Thank you ❤️❤️
I am impressed with Chase's food patience for waiting to for his turn to eat. I cannot 😂
That’s why I eat first (Shelby) he’s patient.. I am not so much 🤭 but we eat a lot so we are usually pretty happily fed haha!
Bánh Mì Xíu Mại guess what I grew up eating so much of this dish and my Dad used to wake his kids up early in the morning litterally about 4:30 am and took us to the market for this dish. My childhood memory 💗
That’s such an amazing memory to have ❤️ it’s an outstanding dish, so glad we finally got to try it!
❤ I love your perspective on Vietnamese people and food, seeing the two of you makes me very happy, I hope you experience many Vietnamese places and dishes because it is very diverse and rich, please experience it fully. The food segments are rich, poor and popular, wherever there are crowds, there is good❤
Awww that is so sweet of you to say. We really appreciate Vietnamese food. It’s so fresh and tasty and made with a lot of love. ☺️❤️thanks for watching friend! xx
You know, Vietnamese cuisine is very diverse and rich. An interesting thing about Vietnamese people is that they do not pay too much attention to rituals or order when enjoying a dish. As long as it's convenient and comfortable, it's fine. What you need to pay attention to is the sauce that comes with the dish, it needs to be consistent otherwise it will be a disaster. 😱😱😱
Oh wow okay that’s good to know haha! Some places are very intense about the way things are eaten. But hey it’s all going to the same place. 😂. We agree though, consistent sauce is a must! Especially if you find one you really love!
Nice
Hello
Dalat is my home town. Watching you guys and it made we missing Dalat very much. The vegetable dish you had in beff jerky is papaya and the fried egg is fried flour cake. Bon appetite 💑
I’m from Texas I am alway keep my eyes on you I like it
My old City is Dalat City . I’m glad when you’re came and happy over these. I’m from California.
HELLO DEARS, I SEE SOME REPORTS FROM LOCAL THAT THERE IS A NEW TIBETAN TEMPLE HIGH ON THE MOUNTAIN IN DALAT BUT IT HAS NEVER BEEN REPORTED AND SHOWED BY VISITORS - I VERY HOPE YOU COULD SHOW IT - THANK YOU👍🌹😉
It seems you guys enjoy Dalat a lot, good for you, I love the atmosphere of that city.
My mouth watering watching you guys eating Banh mi Xiu mai, one of my all time favorite, and I was surprised you managed to try everybody local's favorite street foods: dried beef with green papaya salads and fried crispy flour with eggs, I love these dishes very much, the sauce to dip with eggs is a mixture of soya sauce and vinegar, locals often eat also "bò bía", kind of fresh spring rolls, you should try. Love y'all ❤️
Yes we sure do! It’s a beautiful city in Vietnam. Such amazing food and great weather. We are so happy we got to experience new foods too, some of which are your faves and we can see why. Vietnamese food never ceases to amazing us 😂😍 thank you so much friend!
Yes, Im a big fan of Sugar cane, they add kumquat to make more flavor, I like to drink it with ice!
It’s super refreshing!
That's " nuoc mia"
"Nước mía"
0:59 You are wrong. 'X' in Vietnamese is still pronounced as 'X', and 'S' is still 'S'. I don't understand where you learned this.
New local Hoang Hon 330 😂
14:19 omg this is unripe papaya. Lmao
👍✅😜✅👍
That's a cool shirt Chase has on. I want 1 😊😎....it's green papaya that's in that beef jerky salad btw
Thank you, a great market find in saigon!
Such a great salad!
Green papaya or green mango salad with beef jerky
