Tom did a really good job of narrating this video.
Tom is an amazing man to have around. Seems to be happy no matter the task at hand.
It brought a big smile to my face as soon as Paul announced Fab Rats was going to the wrecker games!
I'm sure it will be broken again by then or it will need something upgraded
Woohoo! Would love it if Cousin Merlin brought Mater back too. We enjoyed last year and already have our tickets for this year.
@koreykilburn5303 no competition there for merlin
@ more people have Offroad wreckers than were there the first year. Merlin might just be up against some competition.
@koreykilburn5303 hahaha I doubt that
Tom--you are a great addition to the team. Love your attitude and ability.
More and more impressed with Tom's knowledge, skill and ability!
I really like the new crew. Calm, conservative and NO showoff Hollywood silliness. Real people ROCK! ! !
FabRats is going back to the wrecker games! Let the shenanigans begin! 👍
As long as they cut out Matt and his crew’s incessant babbling it will be alright.
@@graemecasorso8851 I bet you're fun at parties.
@@graemecasorso8851 Somebody feeling a little whiny? 😂
@@graemecasorso8851 Love the MORR crew !
@@graemecasorso8851 OH, hell yeah!
it was a good trade because they guy who got it was one of the happiest people I have seen in months. His wife was smiling. good vibes!!!! HE was so lit!!!!
Tom does the whole 'I'm your guy for the moment, let's get it done'. Then proceeds to explain everything and be the pro that he is!! 👍👍👍👍👍
I watched the video of Paul and Merlins adventure. I love theclose relationship Paul has with his cousin Merlin. Your cousins are your first best friends in your life a lot of times. Looks like Paul and Merlin stayed that way as well.....❤
Yeah that was a really great video man!
I don't know who does the editing, but they do a dang good job. Always a treat to watch.
Pauls Wife does it,,Michelle his bell not mine,,
Michelle does the editing.
@@b-radleybuck she also is responsible for turnover
Pretty sure that it's Michelle and when you get a reply from them it's usually Michelle doing that as well..
@ she also scrubs the comment section of off comments
never gets old watching the wrecker, the trucks a beast and your dad would be proud looking down at you nodding his head saying nice 1 son, thanks for sharing
“Yo Cat whatcha doin Dog”…. Classic 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Thank you Tom and everyone for the update on the wrecker !
Tom and Cooper have become a great part of the team. People can say what they want but once they warmed up to the camera, they started showing their personalities. I know I couldn't do what they do with a camera in my face. Happy to see it
Tom is good. Cooper…i worry for the future.
@Dozer04r1 Hunter was an odd duck too at first! Lol Cooper will come around more in no time!
@@Dozer04r1Agreed!
Yeah I miss Hunters little remarks and wasn't sure about coop lol but he grew on me so has Tom but I remember when randall lft I wasn't sure about Hunter but we all know how that turned out lol but I've learned you just hv to gv the knew guy a minute to get used to it lol
@@Dozer04r1you gotta give coop.a minute he will come around but to me he already has but I see you haven't gotten to that point yet but like I said just give him a little bit man he will come around to meet your standards 😂😂
Cup Holder ---- Most important Accessory ! Thanks for sharing !
Glad you're competing at the Wrecker Games, the Fab Rats team adds to the fun of everything they join in with; and I think your mechanicing just got even better with Tom's assistance.
Paul, you sure know how to pick your crew! Every crew you've had working with you have been awesome and Tom and Coop are not the exception. You've also got a great family, it helps that your kids have grown up around great people!
We are so lucky to have them!
I absolutely love that old car, you and Merlin went and got. It was worth the trade. The others did a good job while you both were gone. Thank you for sharing!😊
Wow, real doors with real windows. Jace won't freeze now 🥶
out of all the offroad recovery channels fab rats has the coolest looking fleet. so much character in each vehicle.
Hey guys on the Wrecker. Use a racing trick on the doors. Instead of having a bolt and nut on the door hinges pins, drill a hole in the bottom of the bolt and put a cotter pin in it. Then add a little leg or pull handle to the top of the bolts. Then when you want to change the doors you pull the cotter pin and pull up on the top of the bolt. You change the doors in 5 minutes with this system and or pull the doors off in the shop to make it easier to work on. ;)
Michelle: On the laptop question - If you don't actually need a laptop, you can get a lot more speed/power out of a desktop. I like the Dell XPS desktop line. Get a really good GPU to help with video rendering. It will save you tons of time.
Aand do it quickly. Prices are going up in the next couple of days.
I second both these comments
Lenovo Thinkpad P series. A lot of options, depending on your desired screen size, but generally very reliable. I’ve had one for five years, still going strong. It’s what we give engineers that need reliable performance.
Been using 1 myself.
gonna need one with a NVIDIA RTX 2000 or 3000 though. the 500 isnt going to be much fun for video editing
@@toddypippen2789If you spend closer to $2500 you’ll get a RTX4070. Just depends on what’s important, price or performance.
been using a P51(discontinued now) for many years at this point, reliable machine, maybe the legion line would work too, either way, get a good graphics card
I think we just witnessed history. Seeing Paul drive the '38 Ford into the yard. That might be the birth of the "Paul Cox Automotive Museum." Bill Harrah would be proud.
My co worker didn’t set his e brake! And his car went into the ditch! He called a tow truck, but I knew he would need a nether winch to get it out!! The soft shakle I bought from you guys did the job!!
Im so glad ur doing the wrecker games it wasn't the same without y'all!!! Great job!!
Yes your going back for the Wrecker Games!!! Can't wait for those videos...
Paul, welcome to the club. Being a FORD owner is not a big thing; but it is a 'Thing'. My father became a FORD dealer in 1946 and was still a dealer when he died in 1990 (while driving a FORD). My first car was a FORD,; and I have had at least one FORD ever since 1963 (when I got that first car). Currently, I have two FORDs in my garage. There is the everyday driver that my Judy uses. And the other one is a 1973 F100 I bought new in 1972 [from my dad]. Yep, I am true BLUE. Hummm, maybe I should do like Merlin and get a FORD tattoo. Enjoy your '38, my friend; it is beautiful!
Well you gotta get the wrench tat also then?!😂
As for laptop choices… in my corporate job where I develop and am an admin of a very large ERP system, we use HP ZBook laptops Firefly with plenty of RAM. It has a capacity of 64GB or RAM.
Making the drive from Pennsylvania to the wrecker games. Awesome that you'll be there!
I put carpet in everything from houses to RVS back in the day the key thing is stretch your carpet out where you want it and do not make any cuts until it's laid exactly the way you need it cuz you can make a cut and stretch it from the other side and no longer be the cut you had
Tom has been such a great addition!
Coop has really become synonymous with Fab Rats! He belongs. Has the right personality for this crew. Get it done COOP! Dig your commentary.
Still may favorite channel on youtube! Love your style and work. Keep it up!!
I still can't believe they made it that far in that ole beauty without any major issues. I figured at most they would have atleast had a blow out lol proves they don't make them like they used too. I am not a ford guy but any old ford or even 70s 80s truck I'd drive.
Hey Paul and Michelle. We got our son a Victus HP gaming laptop for Christmas and it hands down is the best I've ever dealt with. It's a little pricey but well worth it. We got it from Best Buy.
Hey Tom, for that "road sign aluminum" that breaks when you bend it to much/many times: Heat it up to about 500 degrees (F), a little more is OK, but remember it melts just past 1,000 degrees. Plunge it into water. That will anneal it and you can bend more until it starts to resist, then rinse and repeat. Aluminum behaves the opposite of steel when quenched. Saved some pricey motorcycle levers with that bit of knowledge. Snapped a couple before I knew.
I like carpet and a cozy interior even in an off-road vehicle. The ACC carpet company offers a mass backing option i think its called, that and whatever their best option carpet is really nice. I remove the insulation off the bottom that jute cotton fiber stuff because it soaks up tons of water if wet then i put closed cell foam on the floor on top of the dynamat and the foam replaces the carpet insulation but wont hold any water so its easy to dry out if it gets wet because carpet dries easily and that mass backing option makes it so the water cant soak through but even if water gets underneath it cant soak into anything. I used noico green closee cell foam last time and i did 2 layers on the floor on top of the dynamat. It must be closed cell foam. I parked a Cherokee inside a heated garage for well over a year and it went through very hot weather and everything and saw no water the entire time but when i took the carpet out the insulation was absolutely soaked with gallons of water there was no chance it would dry out that insulation never dries and holds an absurd amount of water literally gallons. Thats how floors rust out because they don't have a chance to dry with that insulation holding so much water. The foam is also really nice for sound deadening especially with dynamat underneath.
For the New Laptop, My roommate and I chatted it over, the HP Pavilion 17.3 touchscreen HD would be a good fit, the Ryzen5 7530U, 64 GB RAM, and 2TB SSD should be more than enough for what you need, it should be lightyears ahead of what you are replacing. I see it on Amazon right now for under $800. Love the content keep it up!
Are you sure a 7530U will be good for editing...
Good, the wrecker got a CAT scan😅😅😅
❤❤❤
LOL Good one. Glad to see there were no cat-tastrofees
@inmyopinion6836 I like it when the Cat Wins. (catastrophe - cat has trophy)
The Lenovo T series. With 3 digits following the T are probably the best ever "normal" laptop built. Mine have taken headers off the dinner table, and survived. Dont buy a new one, Im still using a T430! The line changed after the T590. True story, my little toe snag the charging cable, snatched the laptop off the couch, laptop hit my acheilles tendon hard enough I was limping and bloody the next day, dislocated my toe and the only thing wrong with the laptop was I needed to wipe off the screen. These things are amazing! BTW they were/are on the space station!
Agreed!
5:50. The best part of the vid. 😉 I love Border Collies.
Your dad would be proud to see what you have done with his old truck.
21:50 what a dang good sight that was man! Fr that was so cool seeing that old car coming down that driveway yall!
That's the best news you've told us in quite a while! WRECKER GAMES!
YYEEEEAAAAAHHHH
With Love and Respect You folks are in my prayers
Hoka Hey
Love my JBfab twin sticks in my ol' XJ. John's a great guy to work with.
I'm really glad to see your intention to go to the wrecker games. The Fraternity needs you.
Hey Paul, I have been burning used oil for awhile now and I found the best solution for pumping oil was a 5 Hp Honda with a small hydraulic pump like for a log splitter. Always starts and will move even gear oil in the middle of winter.
Paul never has to worry about his kids - because they know how to wrench on stuff and entertain themselfes! 😁🤘
Another great video. Was nice to see Tom talking and explaining what he was up to. Tom you are a great addition to the team. Always love it when you and Merlin get together
Thanks for mic'ing Paul up!!! I am sure it is kind of a pain, and it gets in the way, but it is much appreciated. Keep building and buying cool stuff!
COMPUTER HELP: Hey Michelle/Fab Rats I have had two Acer Computers that lasted a combined 14 years so far... I do lots of editing and they are powerful, reliable and come with lots of SSD storage options. They are by far the best computers i have ever owned. I cannot do Macbook's either - sticking with my PC 4 ever. love your family and the show. That Ford Paul just traded the willey's for is epic, it reminded me of my 38 Chevy. Thanks for sharing your family with us all. Blessings
Everything but transmissions, Paul. Your winnin', anyhow. ❤
Nice to see the GPASHERM light covers back on the roof lights 🙂 He would be soooo proud of what you have turned his truck into 😍
From past info I understand that the ford coupe was called the “Business Coupe” due to the space that supported samples and other needs for salesmen.
Joe
It's called a business coupe because instead of a back seat, it has a usable space to put stuff going all the way back into the trunk.
That shear and punch is pretty slick!!
Worked in a sheet metal shop as a kid before I discovered machining.
While you can make some pretty Cool stuff out of sheet metal it doesnt compare to the stuff you can make with a Mill and a Lathe.
Made many of my own engine parts over the years.
Excellent video, and the road trip video with Merlin was epic! Hope yall collaborate with him on another build soon! God bless you all and keep you safe!
Microsoft Surface, it’s a fantastic unit, has lots of storage options. My daily was released in 2015 and is still going strong!
Great addition with Tom!!.....Now you 2 guys (with Tom's background in building buggies) need to hook up and build the ultimate buggy - rear steer, etc for Paul. He deserves it!!
"Yo Cat, what you doin' Dawg??" --- Best Fab Rats quote ever! Bahahaha
Excellent video….the “new car’ car is fantastic when Paul drives it. It gets 25 smiles per mile.😇
Falcon Northwest is your best bet for a laptop - They are rugged and their customer support is top notch.
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
I am very glad that you're taking part in the Wrecker Games this year.
The console area is looking pretty cool.
The off road games and the wrecker contests are going to be good this year!
I'm always glad that Robby painted the front fenders with out approval, looks great! Good job Robby!
I'm with you Michelle I don't get along with Siri or Mac. Give me my Samsung stuff And I'm a happy fella. I've tried the other flavor and just couldn't get along with it. So you're not alone. Great video as usual guys keep em coming!
Glad to hear you are headed back to the wrecker games. Is Merlin going back also? Tom and Coop are a wonderful addition to the garage. Coops sense of humor is great and Tom is a wonderful mechancic. Please keep them around!
Great job guys. 👌👌
I can second that on the pliers wrench. I have the name brand ones, just because HF wasn’t selling theirs yet, but they are my go to for most of my wrenching. I use them pretty much daily in my assembly/fabrication job.
Awesome, love y'all going to the wrecker games. Tom great addition and he killed it!! Finally got to meet you!!!
Should put some weather tech floor mats in it , maybe could get them to sponsor 😊
Yes .. the doors.
Nice work
I am loving the new microphones!
@33:10... I use an HP Omen. It's what I do my videos on. @38:45... Cooper, that seat does hate Paul! It caught fire on the initial build, while Paul was welding on the dash; kind of like he was doing with the drink holder! (You'd think a guy would learn!?) 🤪🤪
Paul is determined to burn up the wrecker. Started with the seat. 😂 I love that truck
That blue tape was kickin’ Paul’s “a”!!! 😁
Probably cold
@@kurtwerner4258 nope! just sticky!!😁😆
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
That's a monster pack of Twinkies !
Very cool Ford!! West bound and down Common" Meantime back at the ranch Tom is getting stuff done!!! Well done! Safe Travels
Putting carpet in a tow truck is like hanging a chandelier in an outhouse. Just don't belong, put rubber mats so you can clean it out. OD tranny will make big difference
Mats show everything. Carpet hides . And you can vacuum it . I have rubber mat in my truck and it only looks good right after I wash it and before I get in.
When doing bolt hole location sharpen a bolt, drill one hole in your plate bolt it on, run the sharpened bolt into one of the other bolt holes tap with a hammer it will do like a center punch as to where the other hole needs to go. Rinse and repeat easy peasy
YEP!
I loved that Willie ' s wagon 💔 ,but in time that coupe mite grow on me ...but as long as you're enjoying the coupe that's all that matters..grandma lolly s expression is great..haven't seen her show that much interest in any of your other vehicles...❤
We use Dell Precision 7790s for Avid Media Composer. minimum specs, 64GB RAM, best nVidia Card they offer now on the new laptops, at least 1TB HD, make sure your video storage is a separate USB-C drive enclosure (OWC makes reliable ones)
with multiple SSD drives that you can run in a RAID config.
remember a higher CPU count is better than a higher speed, the Precisions are professional grade laptops, they do cost some money but they are totally worth it in their build quality.
if you're using AVID or Adobe, or DaVinci for that matter, make sure you set your preferences up correct (allocating RAM, CACHE, ETC) so you care working as optimally as possible.
and let us know what you decide to get
I would recommend Framework laptops if you value upgradeability, repairability, and sustainability. They offer modular components, making customization and repairs easy while extending the laptop’s lifespan. With great performance and a commitment to right-to-repair, they’re a solid investment!
I used to have an HP for 12 years and now upgraded to a Dell lap top. Works great!
Sharing an idea for the future. You do you. When I have nutserts, I have a set of bolts where I've cut the head off, and use a grider to sharpen a point on one end (about 40 degree angle). I put the bolts in the nutserts, so they don't stick up too much, align the plate with the center mark you made, then use a hammer to tap over the pointed bolts. They'll mark the locations of your holes. Again, You do you. Nice video. I like these.
Came to say something similar. You can buy them as well, they are called transfer screws. They are awesome when you need them and you can get them in a few different sizes.
Thanks. I like my transfer punches. Transfer screws will be good to add to my kit.
Tom is an AMAZING addition to this channel.
I use a Asus ROG gaming laptop for everything. Editing, gaming, vinyl plotter software, and my business. Its great
They have cold solder joint problems. i have seen several with that issue.
Paul: "That seat catches fire instantly" The seats a fart storage mechanism! Very Flammable!
Jace is the best always painting stuff, yes paint is always better than rust. Paul this wrecker is the shiznit !!!
That trade was worth it.
Great job on the wrecker.
Knew you two would go through all them twinkies....
A water soaked cloth can help control heat transfer because the water can only heat to the boiling point of water until all the water steams off. That might help limit burning things you don’t want to burn.
A tip that works sometimes when transferring shapes and hole patterns is, take a piece of paper and a lumber crayon, strip the paper from the crayon, put the paper over area and lightly rub the crayon over the pattern you want to trace. NUFF SAID.
They have used that technique plenty of times. It's called CAD. Cardboard Aided Design🤣
@@matthewholzinger1042 Hi, I've watched the channel from the beginning, and never seen then use the paper instead of the cardboard. It is totally different, I am a retired toolmaker and machinist so I know a little about it. pass it on to the guys.
love how Paul smiles every time he gives his vehicle some gas pedal action.
Lenovo P series with an upgraded Nvidia graphics card would be perfect for editing. Also look at MSI, they make gaming PC's & laptops. Either of these are great choices and should provide you with 5-7 yrs of good service! Love the Fabrats crew and love all the video's. One of these days I'll be by to visit the Ratshack.
You do have nice things . A nice shop . Some great tools . You have it all ..
It was funny how grandma says Paul is on a smoky and the bandit run and Paul referenced the them song on the road trip video.
Tom, I love it! We are going to push the car forward....proceeds to push it backwards!
