    Ingredients (材料):
    300g plain flour(普通面粉)
    1 tsp instant yeast (即溶干酵母)
    60g caster sugar (细砂糖)
    1 tsp baking powder (发粉)
    1/2 tsp salt (盐)
    150g mashed pumpkin or squash(南瓜泥)
    60ml water (水)
    2 tbsp corn oil / vegetable oil(2汤匙玉米油)

    Thank you Katherine for such a wonderful recipe and demonstration. I have made this today and my family all love it. I have added 1 tablespoon of milk powder as we like a bit more creamy taste. Also, I use 50g caster sugar instead of 60g. These pumpkin steam buns are so delicious and not difficult to make at all.

    Hi Katherine! Thanks for sharing this mantou recipe. I plan to make a large qty for an old folks’ home and I’m interested to try out your recipe as it doesn’t require dough proofing and that saves me time. I noticed that you rolled out the dough a couple of times. Does that helps to make the mantou fluffier? Thanks!

      @@user-ww7tu7id7f 18粒。可是我有做包子形还有馒头型的,包子做六粒 馒头可以做12粒。 因为我的馒头比较小一点儿🤭😀。如果要像kathrine 老师做的一样大就没有那么多了。😀

    Just to clarify, after proofing you put the steamer on the stove BEFORE the water has come to a boil first? Then when the water starts to boil then you reduce heat and let it steam for another 15 mins?
    Don’t you usually let the water comes to a full boil before placing the steamer onto the pot?

      Yes apparently that’s another way to do it. At one time I did the same too by following steamed bun recipe by other. The buns came out good.

      Since you have yeast, it’s not a must to put baking powder

      You can replace with baking powder, but it might not give that softness and fluffiness
