2 pieces of advice, unsolicited as they might be. Never square the shoulders of the tang, leave them rounded, it induces unnecessary weak points and the hilt will be seated better if you hammer it in with slightly rounded shoulders. Second, never make a round handle, this makes indexing the blade more difficult and the blade tends to twist in the hand while cutting when the handle is round. I might put my next project on RUclips just because of you, I enjoy your videos, thx.
Отличная работа Алекс. Не слушайте глупцов, которые будут Вас порицать за форму ручки. Персы и индусы любили и использовали в меча́х именно такие рукоятки.
I always learn something watching these videos. Hand engraving may be “primitive” compared to using power tools, but that’s how it was done for probably millennia, and the fine control is actually probably greater than with a power tool. Watching his hands closely shows how each tiny cut is made, and makes me think that I could do it too!
@@markfergerson2145 doesn't it have more of a special quality too when someone takes the time and does it using their skill and artistic ability. Also, it is more fun to watch.

Swinging this sword on a horse is very well designed against the enemy. After the repair, the hand-held part of the sword became very original and gave a new spirit to this sword.
Not bad work I personally would have left some material for the handle from the material you cut from the handle and make it slightly longer the handle for extra balance. The blade is okay in my opinion and the handle material is a good pick also. I like especially the gravings on the pummel and on the cross. Also the sword case is nice but it is now a simplisctic one but beyond that I like it and nicely done. The sword itselfs is a very nice piece of one and I like the styles. Maybe for the next project you could try to restore a hungarian hussar sabre or and older saber from the 800-900's. Also if you like the idea you could try to make a nice backpack with medieval style. I know these are tons of work and requires time but would be nice to see another extras. Wish you a lot of good!

I'm happy you found another exotic blade to work on. It looks like many of the fantasy scimitars you find here in the USA. I would love to see you take the shards of Narsil and reforge them into the Anduril sword, from The Lord Of The Rings movie. 😁 ✨️🗡✨️👍
I really enjoyied it, I thought you were going to make a bigger end or pommel in the handle, being the blade heavy at the end but it turn out great. Good one brother keep it coming
The movie 300 is a bogus movie. In the past, Iranians did not have such a war with the Greeks. Iranians are very civilized people and in the past Iran was the first empire in history and the first people to become civilized. Maybe this opinion of mine has nothing to do with the topic. But since you watched the movie 300, I said that it might not be out of grace to say this
@@Ahoora_javidan the movie 300 is a fantasy historical retelling of a historical event, iran was conquered and became persia and persian kings set out to conquer greece, the movie is about the 300 spartans that held off persian forces so the 6000 greeks could arrive in time to stop the invasion. persia and greeks were at war for 50 years but greece ultimately won. the Akkadions of mesopotamia are the first empire. as for the sword it is just a fantasy reproduction of a greek kopis that never existed. hence why i said it was a movie replica.
I did not say that Iran had no war with Greece, I meant the war that was shown in the movie 300. Yes, Iran has been at war with Greece for more than a century, sometimes the victory was with Greece and sometimes with the Iranians, but it was Iran that was able to conquer Athens, but the Greeks were never able to conquer Iran, these wars caused both empires to weaken until the Arabs Muslims conquer both countries Regarding the sword, I should say that this sword exists and its name is Kilij, and it is still made as a symbol of this sword today.
@@Ahoora_javidan you understand that iran became persia through muslim conquest right? revolution and dynasty changes created modern day iran, the movie is a fantasy retelling of the persian/greek Battle of Thermopylae in 420bc. the battle actually happened but the events weapons and such are fiction. persia and muslim conquest never defeated greece that is why they kept there culture til modern times.
The owner of this blade in my opinion is wrong to shorten the handle ; now it is too short to maintain a strong grip of the weapon ! Thank you and stay safe .
what you have there is an Otterman Kilij sword, not sure why it isn't sharp unless it has been blunted to go on display in the past as it has obviously been made of decent steel and hardened
Given the damage to the blade, either poor steel, or poor tempering. I agree, almost certainly reproduction, and not a great one. No point in sharpening, given the metal issues. Pity, you can only do so much there. Strong work.
