Decades ago, as a young man, I went through a Nick Drake obsession. I immersed myself in his albums, listened to little else, and studied whatever I could find about the man, which wasn't very much. Then as time and life progresed, I listened less and less. I never forgot Nick Drake's music or its impact, but I just moved on to other things. Recently I found this video, and it brought back fond memories. You have not only mastered the guitar style, but you have collected visual images that complement the music in the finest way. If films of Nick Drake in his time and place actually existed, I would imagine them looking much like the images that you created. Well done, and so nice to see that Nick's music continues to inspire new generations of listeners. Cheers!
I think it’s a right of passage for any music loving human to go through an intense and lifelong love affair with Nick. I’m still not over it. Thank you for an amazing tribute 🤘🏻❤️
I think Nick saw eternity in a way. He went so far and he wasn't capable to get back..When you hear his music for the first time it is like virus goes in you in positive melancholic way..not to much energizing but very emotional rising, at least I feel that way..I just do not know what to do when I listen his music it's so influential especially if you are in guitar, his style his poetry was way ahead of his time and even today, so he asked if I am genius as many sad where is the money. Of course he was aware that he is not capable to cope with the people and that was big problem not only for him but for very, very sensitive artistic people..I think he didn't think of himself as some kind special musician he just find genuine way to express himself and today we admire to him so much, but back then it was like you know he is good but not that good if can't stand to be on tour or to play in front of people..we have Beatles and Stones..and he he was totally something different..
Beautiful sound. I’m 70 years old and went through the whole 60s thing but somehow I was listening to other stuff when Nick Drake came around. Only discovered him a few years ago really. For me he seemed to continue the work that Donovan started but much more challenging musically. Donovan seemed to morph into a parody of himself and I lost interest in him. How much more Nick Drake could have given us. So tragic. All the best to you.
Absolutely brilliant playing. I grew up not far from where Nick grew up and I'd often cycle down there on a Sunday and sit in the fields around the back of his house listening to his music. Your cover was so good if I close my eyes I can picture being back there. Off to on a Nick Drake binge now, it's been a while.
I myself binge nick alot, I work and live in the mountains and he really sets the mood and the vibes across. I can guarantee that no one listens to him on my small island
You also feel the magic..the nostalgic emotions..the Feeling to left Something behind..to understand youre thoughts youre heart and Soul. You are also a romantic dreamer searching for Peace in yourself i guess. Well done..you did it. I Hope i will have the Money next year to Visit Nick Drake..warm greetings.
I imagine how could all the World don’t know about this great musician Nick Drake . I love all his songs, and thank you man for to show us this performance really really so beautiful. God bless
Far Leys is one of my absolute favorites. It's really cool seeing others as well being inspired by Nick Drake. He is such a legend, I always create my music with him in mind. He was ahead of his time and also ahead of the current time still.
Drake was roughly the same age as me but in the early 70s, I never heard of him. My big loss! I am sure I would have been VERY impressed with his albums. I first heard Northern Sky in the movie Serendipity. My kids knew who Drake was and said “Dad, find his albums, you will love them”! They were right. Tragic that he was gone so young .
So wonderful to see Nick Drake finally getting the recognition he deserves, as one of our finest folk musicians. So sad it couldn't have been whilst he was alive..You play beautifully, and your video is captivating..I live near Nick's sister Gabrielle Drake, in South Shropshire. She looks just like him!.Thank you for this lovely tribute.best wishes, Luna:)
Just DADGAD 'ed ( good word that) my guitar put a capo on the fourth fret and it still dosen't come close to Daniel practice makes perfect I suppose a brilliant bit of playing , but how in gods name did Nick come up with these guitar passages superb!
Well done! There a mysterious poetry about this tune. Can't help thinking of the most ecstatic verses of Blake or Tennyson; now caressed into wondering in a romantic way about druids and bards. The way it wanders and meanders here and there--an orison on six strings, an offering to windswept wildflowers, delicately dancing. One of Nick's best.
Frankly I don't remember the tune... but my compliments for the way you play: the Martin perfectly immobile, no unnecessary movements, neither of the body or of the fingers, every note fully played... and the whole thing looked as a sincere tribute to the guy who left us so soon 😊.
Just beautiful! You've certaily captured the essence of Nick. I love the video. It's so ethereal, like Nick did his. Your fingers are so slender and long as they caress the guitar strings!
That was simply fantastic Daniel. You are an amazing player . This is such a beautiful song and you absolutely nailed it. Wish i could give 10 thumbs up.The estate should let you record this and put it on iTunes. Youve done Nick proud my friend.
Well spoken and well played. I discovered Nick in 1971. Three years later he was gone. For years I thought Imight be his only Stateside fan...boy was I wrong. Grateful for that. Cheers from "Lost" Angeles. Keep on picking.
Oh this truly wonderful... so peaceful and enchanting...thank you so much for sharing.... and your long mooie hands, just like Nick.. What a lovely tribute..
You are incredibly rythmical and your expression through vidoe touched my heart. Wish I saw this sooner. Well done; your ideas are true, please stick to them. All the best.
@@danielcashguitar I am watching your video again. I only discovered ND about a year ago. Just returned from a trip Leamington Spa, and Dover. (I am in the US). I listened to Five Leaves Left on the train to Dover, mostly :Riverman" over and over... it was surreal with the gloomy skies and landscapes passing by. And my British friend who knows ND music well NEVER told me that Far Leys was just minutes away from Leamington Spa / Stratford upon Avon ....UNTIL I was back in the US :( Next England trip, I am def going to visit Far Leys AND his grave.
I've had this on repeat the past few nights. Such a lovely piece of music, and your recording of it is absolutely spot on. Thanks so much for uploading this, it's a beautiful piece of work.
Thanks so much! & Thanks! We did some photos like those of Nick's with the handful of mushrooms except I had a handful of pinecones, I think I posted them on my Flickr page.
Impressive, brother! Huge fan of Nick Drake. Brilliant! Thanks for the up close video, or sorts, where I can get tips by viewing. The visuals are cool, too.

I've been inspired by this a hundred times. It's like being kissed by the muse again and again...
This made me feel like I was finally home
I just found this. I am going through hard times, really tough. I don´t know whether to relax and enjoy this or else.
As if Nick was alive and back among us again. Thank you very much for the upload.
It is in the tuning and "the guitar" of course!! It makes the player sound so good!!
Beautiful. Such a loss for everyone.
Exquisite performance - thank you for taking us along for the ride! Cheers
