      A Question Please: I sent some ETH to my LEDGER a few months ago. It never arrived. OH S--T, Ledger said I sent it on the wrong network. That they did not support it. So, are my funds lost? My Ledger battery has died, and I ordered a new Trezor 3 safe yesterday. You talked about how many networks this uses. So, is there any chance I can recover the funds? I sent them from Pionex, so I think the info is still there. Well, it's worth asking. When do you get the Keyphrase to keep your wallet safe? 6:35 When you buy the wallet does it come with its own keyphrase? Surely that wouldn't be safe... Or do you have to set one up, and how do you set up the most important keyphrase? thanks

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  3 месяца назад +3

      @@grantmail4112 When you buy a wallet it doesn’t come with a seed phrase. It’s during the setup process when one is randomly generated.
      Wallets randomly generate a unique seed phrase using what’s called a random number generator which you then record and use to access your crypto account on the blockchain.
      And seed phrases aren’t attached to any one wallet. So you could create a seed phrase using a Trezor wallet for example, import it into a different brand wallet like Ledger, and continue managing your crypto.
      Thats why it’s so important to secure your seed phrase. It is the master key to your crypto account.

      Yes you can import the seed phrase created on your exodus wallet to Tangem.
      Nothing happens to your wallet. Remember, the wallet doesn’t store crypto, everything is attached to your seed phrase. Not your wallet

      I never recommend storing crypto on an exchange, too risky. I have friends that can’t access thousands of dollars worth of crypto stored on exchanges.
      And if you’re willing to use a self custodial mobile wallet, might as well use a hardware wallet.
      As long as you don’t mind using your phone to manage crypto, I’d recommend the Tangem wallet as a traveler.

      Either send back to the exchange to sell (this is what I usually do as the fees are often cheaper) or you can sell certain coins directly from your cold wallet to your bank.

      This is hard to say, as the fees solely depend on the network where your crypto lives.
      Cold wallets don’t have fees.
      Exchanges and Blockchain networks charge the fees.
      So perhaps, if you would like to know the fees for certain networks just ask Google and it should tell you what the current fee is.
      As for exchanges, most of them charge 0.5% to 3% of the total transaction price.
      That said, it is worth paying for these fees to secure your crypto.

The only question I can't seem to find an answer to anywhere is what happens if something happens in the future and the software for the wallet isn't accessible anymore, are you screwed? I may not be understanding correctly though. In essence it's a little mini computer that talks to the blockchain for you via software. I know your wallet is technically on the blockchain, but if something happens to the hardware and or software is there any possible way to still have access to communicating with your wallet?

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  2 месяца назад +6

      Your crypto is stored on the blockchain. It is secured by a key which is generated by the wallet.
      Your cold wallet simply provides you with a secure environment to manage and store that key.
      Even if you lose the wallet or the app disappears, you can always access your wallet using your seed phrase (the key) and another brand wallet.
      So no, you’re not screwed. And you’re not reliant on one specific wallet or app. The important thing is that you keep your seed phrase safe

      By keeping crypto stored on an exchange, you don’t actually control your funds so they can do things like free funds and lock your account (this has happened to me) so even if they’re insured, you could miss out on big opportunities because ultimately at the end of the day you don’t control your crypto.

    Do they charge fees on the wallets to keep your CRYPTOS safe ? sorry I'm new to this already started buying some crypto, have like 8k on cryptos and didn't like the fees I'm getting to each transactions on coinbase wallet..planning to get into this more and wondering if i really need this cold wallet thing, i keep hearing even Elon that is the best way to keep your crypto safe,(didn't know they can steal them from your coinbase app) really need a little tip on how and what on transaction fees or and if i have to pay on wallets monthly to not lose my cryptos..tnx

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  5 месяцев назад +1

      No, hardware wallets (cold wallets) do not charge any monthly fees to keep your crypto safe. Once you buy the wallet, you own it outright, and there are no ongoing fees just for storing your crypto.
      However, there are transaction fees whenever you move crypto between wallets or make a transaction on the blockchain. These fees are charged by the network (like Bitcoin or Ethereum), not by the wallet itself. Fees vary depending on the network and how busy it is.
      A hardware wallet is considered one of the safest ways to store your crypto because it keeps your private keys offline, reducing the risk of hacks or theft compared to online wallets or exchanges like Coinbase.
      So, if you're concerned about security, getting a hardware wallet could be a smart move. But remember, you'll still pay network fees whenever you send or receive crypto, no matter which wallet you use.
      I recommend Tangem. Super secure and VERY easy to use.

    Cypto seems to make less sense the more I look into it. Which is funny since there's a million and one memes about 'how simple it is.' Not to mention the transaction fees seem to be excessive, especially for small transactions. Not sure how this is supposed to be the currency of the future.

    • @cyberscrilla
      @cyberscrilla  7 месяцев назад +4

      The word “crypto” encompasses numerous currencies and blockchain networks. So when you say fees are excessive for small transactions that’s not completely accurate.
      Each network has its own use case. Not all “crypto” is the same.
      For example, to transact on Solana it costs .03 and it doesn’t matter the size of the transaction.
      And same with other coins. Now there is some truth to what you said, like Ethereum and Bitcoin which can have high fees depending how congested the network is at the time of transacting.
      To your point: crypto is the wild Wild West. Theres a lot to learn and very few experts to teach it. But, that doesn’t mean there isn’t immense opportunity.
