I'm just gonna say this; the Stephen Chow movies of jttw is very underrated. I just love the fact the narrative of the original story is being told in a very different way in the two films and I love that type of creativity.
Ironically, this Stephen Chow version of JTTW was being condemned because it deviates too much from the 86's TV series. But in reality, it was the closest portrayal of the novel which people only learns to appreciate many years after it was shown.
@@JJZZ-q6y It isn't a rumor because back when it first showed on screens, a lot of people hated this movie. Hating 1 movie made by someone and liking everything else made by the same person doesn't contradicts.
It received hates and entertained many people at the same time, so it was never a failure. And No, it is not a closer portrayal of the novel compared to other film or series unless you are referring to Dragon Ball etc which was not even meant to follow the novel at all.
@@edwardk8477 Earlier on, it received hates. It was after people who actually read the Novel revealing how Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sandy are actually more demonic (Both Zhu Bajie and Sandy ate people before, especially Sandy who was implied to completely embraced the Dark Side and even ate a lot of monks), Sun Wukong is actually terrifying despite only 3-4 feet tall. They were Gods once, but this is why, when they fall from grace and become Demons, they are incredibly powerful and dangerous. I should correct my statement to: Portrayal of Sun Wukong, Zhu Baijie and Sandy
