Agree with this so much! I lived in Vancouver for just over two years on the visa and came home before COVID really hit. I miss that lifestyle so much, and really wanted to bring that lifestyle back to Aus with me.

Hearing how life abroad changed you made me realize how much I’ve changed sice I moved to Canada. My path is different from yours (really enjoying my software engineering job haha) but living abroad has totally changed my perspective on things too. Your life is what you make it!

I resonate with this so much! My career has allowed me to travel the world and live in so many places but I also have a fall back career in finance if things ever turn south. It’s so important to pursue passions and adventure while you’re younger because it really affects who you are later on. Office jobs will always be there, but if you can do what you love without the confines of an office, why not? Never lose your passion for freedom and growth 🤍

This is all very well for a young person in their 20’s but once you get to your 40’s things are very very different. I travelled a lot when I was younger but I would have loved to live abroad and take advantage of being young and able to do so. I just didn’t have the guts to do that. Now I’m in my 40’s and would still love to live abroad however now with my job I’m a bit stuck and also emigrating when you’re older is very difficult as your age goes against you for one thing. So for anyone thinking of moving abroad while they’re young, just do it. Go for it and have that experience take is from this old fogey you will regret it if you don’t do it.

However getting ahead isn’t my dream, my dream is to explore. I’ve taken a screen shot of your message so I can empower myself whenever I need to and find the words to stand up for myself and my values ❤️
Early this year, I got an extreme urge to travel. I want to do a working holiday in Australia for 2 years and then hopefully see if I can explore Canada. The only thing stopping me is Covid!

The visa is 2 years now? I almost did it years ago I didn't end up going and you could apply again back then. I am not even sure if I am allowed to reapply now as the rules keep changing I will need to read up to date info. I have done a visa in Sweden and UK. I think I will go to Canada or Ireland or France because im 35 and Australians can't do them after that age.

I am curious what summer work did you do? At a resort, things of that nature.
The resort did downhill mountain biking/had hiking trails in the summer and I worked in the guest services department selling day tickets/season passes etc!

When I went I didn't know how to ski or snowboard so don't worry! I worked in the Guest Services department selling lift tickets/season passes :)
Beth, when you were in Canada did you just spend most of your time in the west coast or did you go to places like Toronto or Montreal?
Mostly on the west coast! I had plans to move to Toronto (flights booked and all) but then Covid hit 😭 hoping to get over there one day though! 💕
@@BethGould Next time you have a chance to visit Canada again. Visit the Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal triangle. Its where 2/3 us Canadians live. Or better yet goto Cavendish Prince Edward Island and portray the life of Anne of Green Gables

Yeah mate I also moved to Toronto, Canada from Sydney 13 years ago. Trust me it's so much better than shithole Australia. Have you ever been to Toronto? You will seriously forget about any other city of Australia after seeing Toronto. Toronto just looks like New York only better and cleaner.
I was meant to move there back in April 2020 (had flights booked and everything) but couldn't due to the pandemic. I really want to move there one day, I think I'd love it!
@@BethGould yeah mate I reckon you will absolutely love it 🇨🇦 Canada has a higher employment rate than Australia. Toronto has a lot of good and high paying jobs. Moreover, you can drive easily to New York, Detroit, New England (Boston, New Hampshire) , Chicago 🇺🇸 from here in Toronto. New York city is only a few kilometers from here in Downtown Toronto. They don't ask about any sort of visa to enter US. You just have to drive to the border and show them your passport mate. Now along with Canada, I have also explored USA and have been to every major city.

I live in Vancouver Canada and have visited Sydney once. I appreciate your kind words describing Toronto, but I do not see how it compares to your beautiful Sydney. If anything, Toronto just looks like an average/giant North American city. I do not find anything special on it.
how did you get a job .....like which routes did you take when applying for jobs?
I got my first job at the ski resort through a 3rd party company called IEP. The other jobs I had I found using seek/indeed :)
