  • In this Tutorial i will show how markers can be used in Scans to apply groundcontrol as well as texturing the scan with images with the help of Markers and their positions.
    00:00 introduction and scene preparation
    00:25 scanning the scene
    01:07 processing the scan
01:17 processing the scan: apply target files and length constraints
02:17 processing the scene: optimisation in dot3d
02:37 export the pointcloud and targets (ground control) from dot3d
03:21 create a project in Realitycapture
    03:42 detect markers in images
    04:23 rename detected markers
04:48 import ground control from the scan
    05:10 Align images
    05:40 import the meshed scan
    06:19 confirm transformation settings
06:31 create a Texture for the scanned mesh

    Hey, nice work
Do you know how larger area you could use this method for outside? If I say 4 markers on site, with one in each corner, could I measure some land externally and it be accurate without a drone?

That‘s a difficult one. Outside areas don’t feature a lot of hard surfaces and angles to get a proper frame alignment and ground surface you most likely can’t scan perpendicular. If it’s a hard surface like concrete or asphalt it could work. Make a mail to info@bau-3d.ch so we can discuss this more specific.
