Liked the video. I work fracking rigs in the winter (oct-April) in Colorado. My suggestion for people wanting a good job to get your foot in the door is to apply for a Water heating(frac heating) position. It’s seasonal, but you will save soooo much money. Most start you at 20-22 an hour and 80-100 hrs weekly. This job is sooo easy and pays very well. You will have time to talk to a lot of other workers and learn what the business is all about. I love my winters.
HURT 1 I work at a directional drilling company. We lay pipe under the ground. Everything from fiber optic, to water lines. It’s way harder work but it keeps my family afloat in the off season. I take a month off of work to spend time with my family after the winter season. It just takes good communication between 2 companies.
HURT 1 both are the same thing technically. It’s called both. We heat water in the winter to the proper temp so the mud gets mixed properly and they can pressure it down the well. They can’t frack with 33 degree water so we heat it up with our “super heater trailer” (or bobtail) from the feed line and every hour we take a temp from the water tanks to see if we are hot enough. So if you search for either you will find companies hiring for it.
Got 12 years in this game, and glad to have finally just gotten out! Lol It’s a good job, money is good, but.... It comes at a price for some of us. I’ve got a marriage in the rear view mirror due to this job. And I’m putting it out there, that’s something you may want to consider before you go down this road. It’s a hard on family life. It’s hard on the guy that’s in the Derrick for 12 hours when it’s -40, and it’s hard on the woman at home that’s trying to keep up with the kids. And finding a job when you leave the patch is tough too. Oil fields hands are considered a liability in the real world. It will be assumed that you’re on drugs, and that you’re a safety hazard. I live the oilfield, I’m proud of what we did, and I’m proud of what I accomplished while I was there. But looking back, I can’t say it was worth it. Just my situation, not saying it will happen to any of you. But people need to know that there is a high cost attached to being a roughneck, not worth losing your family.

yo whats up Jay flat out, i have never msged you or talked to you before so im thinking i want a position being a tool pusher. i have no experience either im guessing you just walk up to your boss and the slackers and push them when they are not looking because they are tools. ill just show up to a random rig of my choice so ill see you this monday thanks bro peace out.
what does he mean when he says "dont try to be a labour 'dont kill your body'" ? i have heared duzends of guys saying things like that but none of them did say what they really mean by that.
Yea..worked for them for 3 years in PA/Ohio. Always had a hotel room with a room mate on opposite shift. No man camps out here. Not sure if Halliburton uses camps much? Maybe out there somewhat..
Hii, what's the current cituation in this field.i heard that it's really bad. If it is, is there any chance all things are back together like older days. And are they hiring commercial divers to the oil field. Is that hard to find a job.
If you don’t mind are you allowed to bring a gaming system such as a ps4 also once your shift has ended and your back at the man camp can you leave or is there some sort rules for instance if the weather changes and you need some cough syrup is it ok to go to Walmart right after a shift
I’m oilfield trash too bro 😂. Let’s keep in touch I run a camaro channel. Wireline operator is good place to start or mwd hand. I got started as Wireline for Weatherford. Now in sales. 😬
OnlineCarShow just because you worked in the oilfield does not mean you are trash and people living in trailers does not mean that they are trailer so never listen to the ignorance of other people stay safe
Going overseas to build an oil refinery from the ground up near Madagascar Africa as a superintendent doing daily reports.. Riding around in a truck video recording reading specs and drawings.... Documenting Manpower on the job every day.. tools.... Who is who and if there on time with the projects schedule finishies weekly monthly and so on...... documenting reporting back to my project manager weekly with dailys. 90 days on 2 weeks off paid. Living in a man camp. brand new $85,000 5th wheels with brand new Ford trucks. Appreciate the advice man I know it's going to be rough. But I don't have any family and I'm single so that's good.
I'm looking to change careers from low end IT jobs to a trade in the oil fields. Have been considering trucking or maybe pumper/operator or just something outside, no more desk jockey. I used to do a lot of outdoors, but now sitting behind a desk all day I'm feeling dead inside. Need a change and to make lot of money to turn my life around. Where can I start and what would you recommend doing? I don't have any trade skills, but I'm willing to learn. Also, where can i look for the jobs and how to contact them. I keep getting shitty search results from google.
@Jay Flat Out I will be going to Crane Tx right out of school for instrumentation work. I will be working for Chevron. I think Im going to get a camper because it is my cheapest way out because man camps are in the works at the moment for that area. Any advice other than your video I need all the advice I can get I have never worked the oilfield
Loved the video but what if you actually live in the state/city that the oilfield is in. Do you go home? What is the home time do you go home everyday?
Ok so there's so much wrong with this video. You make a lot of solid points, but there's a bunch of crap in this. 1. Don't live on the reservation. 2. Don't work on the reservation. 3. If you're driving for a good company you'll make more working on commission than hourly unless you suck. If it's a job that you'll make more hourly, your company will charge hourly and you'll get your same percentage... Just of the hourly rate. 4. Verizon 4g everywhere that's not in a valley. 5. Rent in Tioga is like $900 for a 2 bedroom with a heated garage. It's cheaper in Williston right now. 6. Nothing to do... Hunting and fishing is outstanding. Walleye all day. Northern and catfish. Deer everywhere. Yeah there's no Mall in New Town. New Town sucks. Don't live there. If you're into the outdoors you'll love the ND oilfield. Go fishing on your way to work or home. Bring your shotgun to work. Get a couple pheasants on your way home. Go camping at Theodore Roosevelt national Park, or just hit White Earth Bay. All kinds of shit to do. 6. I agree. Campers are so 2012. Don't bring a camper up here unless it's for recreation. 7. It's picking up here. Rates are going up. Everybody's hiring. 8. Crime isn't bad. When my wife came up I made her carry in Williston and not go anywhere at night. I forget to carry now and my wife and kids do whatever they want. Kids still play outside here. They ride to school and to the movie theater on the weekend with their friends. It's great.
My girlfriends uncle said he could get me on at Halliburton doing production fracup, what kind of job is that. What does that consist of? He’s been working for them for 7 years
im a wellsite geologist/ mudlogging intern, any advice to find work, or in general how to get my foot in the door? company im interning with might hire me on as a night hand but theres a possibility they wont
I got to say I'm not exactly sure with some of the stuff that you're talking about I've been up here since 2014 and there's work up here that was work up here in the winter and there was work up here in 2017 but all in all I'll give you 50%
Good advice but people need to understand you need cdl driving experience before almost any company will hire you as a driver in the Oilfeild. They will require between 1-5 years previous experience before they will hire you.
It depends on what level you can get in, I say get in at what you can get in at but after a year if you're not making $25 an hour you should find a new job or ask for a raise.
The energy industry is up there as the top three highest paying along side pharamaceuticals and tech. Shit ton of over time in the lower level jobs and well if you smart enough you can make more lifting less. If you wanna make money I advise you either get into electrical and become a real wise. or oil field work such as flowback water transfer or have you’re own hauling business and move equipment on and off sites for clients but that’s a little harder to get into. but if you do go down that road don’t be lookin for a career very few skills transfer over unless you’re an engineer or something
It’s not a job I don’t think I have a few years in North Dakota. It was awesome we had a lot of fun and spent a lot of money. I ran equipment and did some well services like flow backs. We had a community of buddies most of whom I went to high school with. Awesome time when the oil is up. It was like the wild Wild West. But when oil dipped we were constantly reminded of how the supervisors had stacks of applications in their desks that we were all replaceable. Hell they had multiple people every day coming into the office asking for work. In 2015 we had ConocoPhillips company men coming and asking for jobs oil was so low. Your were worried every single day if you still had a job. The bosses slowly started cutting people and pay every chance they got the lower the oil dropped. They knew we were scared and desperate to keep our jobs so they would do whatever they wanted knowing we would take it. It’s a temporary job to me. I met a bunch of the OG oil workers we had around that have been chasing the patches and booms since they were young. Not every one becomes the company man with experience. They had nothing. They were divorced or never got married they didn’t see their kids all they got is a truck. It’s sad that’s when I said fuck this. People need to know to get a job you need to be there. Most of those companies will not hire you unless your there. And don’t come down their with your grandmas minivan. I seen weather as cold as -57 you will freeze lol. get an apartment which I remember them being 15-2000 a month or bring a truck and camper. The part of the oil field that’s expensive was the cost of living like trailer spots or rent I seen shit box apartments one bedrooms for over 1500 a month one that has a terrible excuse for a kitchen in the same room as the bed it’s like a hotel room with a tiny kitchen. Stuff like milk and fuel seemed relatively close to what it is in my home town. Plus you have eastern Montana right there and stuffs even cheaper. Food wasn’t bad I didn’t think. You would be smart to find a company who supplies housing like rigs or some companies have space on their property for campers. I have noticed the oil field jobs that supply perks always seem to be less an hour. The other expensive part is traveling
I'm 22, no driving experience just a remodeling helper and motorcycle mechanic.. Whats the odds of me getting hired? And what area in the field should I go for?
Yes you could work in a man camp for a catering company. The catering people in my man camp work 12 hours a day and make 15/hour. I see them work 7 days a week for a couple months straight
@@kseke25 there's plenty of people with no real work experience getting hired to do other things. I've been working in sand for the last year and they started me out at $18/hr 90-110 hours a week

The oil prices are rising. 2019 and 2020 will more than likely be booming. I'm currently in Williston, ND. And I know companies are looking for drivers.
Anyone telling you they know how long this current "boom" will last is lying. In reality i dont even consider this a boom, oil is only around $70 a barrel, less than half of the highs during the last boom. The main thing is that unemployment nationwide is super low so there is a severe lack of shortage of the labor in the oil fields. As far as your CDL, apply at literally any trucking company in the Permain Basin of west Texas. Companies are desperate for drivers. Flat bed will pay the most. There is also hauling frac sand, crude, water, all tankers.
you got a cdl with tank endorcement youll get a job up here in ND. you can make the money but your gonna work for it. 16 to 18 hour days hauling production water and im cashing in at 600 to 700 a day.
Camp job, or No camp job? Food quality depends on the cook. If she/he lasts likely a keeper. Than yes good food. Steak night, turkey night, prime rib night. Xmas steak/lobster. Depends on me. The Boss. Do I sign the bill.
Fuck that. Dude hasn't been here for awhile, obviously. It's family friendly... Well as long as your not in New Town. Basically stay off the res and you're good.
Hi I live in Texas. I will be 17 next summer. I know a guy that sais I can work in the oil business next summer? I want to know if that true from more than one body. If it helps the company is key energy services. Thank you!
a few questions - is there some database of companies that offer housing as part of their employment? also if they do offer housing is it included no matter what, or do we have to pay rent? and if yes, is it subsidized? Also, I would like to do such a job for 1 year - is it ok if I tell any potential employer than I want to work in it for one year and not BS him that I came to make a career?
I;m in Odessa. Lots of work here, good money to be made, but it sucks living out here. There is nothing to do recreationaly. I know what youre thinking, youre just here to work, not have a good time. But after working 60-80 hours a week you want something to do. We have lots of chain restaurants, a movie theater. Pretty much it. No nightlife. There is a couple karaoke bars. Personally I hate karaoke, in any event any bars are a full on sausagefest. Thats the other thing. If you come here as a single dude, or even a married dude who wants to be slimmy and mess around, youll be disappointed. 10-1 guy to girl ratio here. What single women are here, most arent desirable, and the ones that are have their full bitch shield up because theyre getting constantly hit on, all day every day. Your salary isnt going to help you, everyone here makes 6 figures. There is also bad service pretty much everywhere you go. When you can make big money in the oil field, why would you want to work in a supermarket, or a restaurant? Long lines and long waits everywhere because of lack of labor for these places. Youll wait two hours for a haircut.
Yeah ok buddy. I live in Odessa. i deal with this shit every day. Go into Stripes, 1 person working the register, 8 people in line. Go to HEB, 3-4 registers open, 10 people in each line. Go to sport clips for a haircut, 90 minute wait. Any restaurant on the weekend or the evening, an hour wait. This is not made up bullshit. Its the truth, dont lie to people of what life is like out here. Kermit or Orla is not Odessa. I said Odessa. If you dont believe me go to the HEB right now(10:30) on a sunday night and tell me there isnt a huge line at every register. Go to sport clips on 191 in east Odessa and tell me you wont wait an hour at ANY time of the day, any day of the week. Did I mention the $1500 a month rent for a 1 bedroom apartment because of the people flooding out here? This place is a fucking shithole. Cant wait until I am out of here.
2 years later and I've talked to a bunch of drivers in the oilfield at truck stops cuz I drive over the road truck and these guys are telling me big companies like Halliburton are paying them 15 to $18 an hour after a year!? Did Perry really drop that much? hourly really having a hard time finding anyone that spoke English as well. That's not a good sign. Most of the workers I saw at several truck stops over several different nights I stayed at them were either African or Mexican. Nothing against them of course just saying once the word got out to other countries that they can get work visas it appears the pay dropped for the cheap labor. All the owner operators trucks look like complete garbage as well
Bruh. Its good money yeah. If money is all you care about then sure have at it. Other then that, first hand account. Everyone is payed but miserable. Over worked. Always tired. Missing there families. Hating midland odessa area. Risking there lives everyday. Just not worth it. Money isnt everything. I rather take my regular plant job back home. Be with my wife everyday. Sleep in my bed. Spend holidays with my family instead. Time is precious. The oilfield will suck your whole life away if you get tunnel vision on the money. Its different for everyone. Good luck

How did you find a good company, and how do you start? I'm looking to start a job out there, but I don't know where to look or who to contact.
Skip to 4 minutes in to get to the actual video
yo whats up Jay flat out, i have never msged you or talked to you before so im thinking i want a position being a tool pusher. i have no experience either im guessing you just walk up to your boss and the slackers and push them when they are not looking because they are tools. ill just show up to a random rig of my choice so ill see you this monday thanks bro peace out.
Linuxx lol....you funny guy.
what does he mean when he says "dont try to be a labour 'dont kill your body'" ? i have heared duzends of guys saying things like that but none of them did say what they really mean by that.
Does Halliburton provide man camps or hotel for equipment operations frac? Please lmk here in Colorado or do you have to pay out of pocket
Haillburton typically provides apartments or man camps.
Yea..worked for them for 3 years in PA/Ohio. Always had a hotel room with a room mate on opposite shift. No man camps out here. Not sure if Halliburton uses camps much? Maybe out there somewhat..
Great Info!! I start next week.....ET!!
Mavis Green I have a interview Tuesday for an ET position... How is it?
for sure hit me up on IG @jayflatout
OnlineCarShow you do sales for the oilfield? I would like that.. I’m in water transfer now
OnlineCarShow just because you worked in the oilfield does not mean you are trash and people living in trailers does not mean that they are trailer so never listen to the ignorance of other people stay safe

OrbitalRescueSage get a CDL. You'll never be unemployed.

When was the last time you were there the internet was pretty cheap when I left there spring 2015
Stay out of Odessa and Midland
Rick C why
Loved the video but what if you actually live in the state/city that the oilfield is in. Do you go home? What is the home time do you go home everyday?
If you live where you work of course you can go home
But oil is dropping in price day by day right?
I’ll make a new video every time the price goes up or down a single dollar 👍🏻
Oil is the most volatile commodity. It will go up just like it goes down.
You Aint fuckin with oil. Itll go up in the end..
I remember when a gallon a gas cost 50 cents.
When do the oil rig jobs usually start the most?
It's great.
Can’t bring guns on Location tho lol
How is it currently?
Super late. But if anyone see this can anyone touch on what are the benefits like, medical dental and stuff like that.
I got to say I'm not exactly sure with some of the stuff that you're talking about I've been up here since 2014 and there's work up here that was work up here in the winter and there was work up here in 2017 but all in all I'll give you 50%
What about buying a house up there. They seem cheap when you consider the income possibilities
What kind of money are we talking about here on an hourly basis? I keep hearing "six figures" but what does that usually mean hourly?
18 average starting wage with 100 hour weeks, depending on the position
@TheEnd yeah. Every day. 14-16
Is that truck something you bought with the money from working at an oil field, just wondering. The interior is really nice.
Murphy Pendleton lol. That's what most people do when they start seeing money. Spend it and finance a bunch of crap.
How much can I make as an instrument tech fresh out of school? And where do I go to make the most?
Does anybody know where is Monaco oil field Or how many miles is it away from it we out there in the ocean
I’m 18 and just got of high school is there any jobs in the oil field I would be qualified to do

Good advice but people need to understand you need cdl driving experience before almost any company will hire you as a driver in the Oilfeild. They will require between 1-5 years previous experience before they will hire you.
What companies are paying well in north dakota
Luke Saulter The ones you die in.
For someone with no experience how much should we expect to make an hour or how much should we ask for?
Ben around 18hr take home 5k a month
J Farruko where is this at?
J Farruko nice do they provide food and place to stay?
It depends on what level you can get in, I say get in at what you can get in at but after a year if you're not making $25 an hour you should find a new job or ask for a raise.
J Farruko How can I apply where you live? I’m not seeing jobs
Great video thanks
no prob
The energy industry is up there as the top three highest paying along side pharamaceuticals and tech. Shit ton of over time in the lower level jobs and well if you smart enough you can make more lifting less. If you wanna make money I advise you either get into electrical and become a real wise. or oil field work such as flowback water transfer or have you’re own hauling business and move equipment on and off sites for clients but that’s a little harder to get into. but if you do go down that road don’t be lookin for a career very few skills transfer over unless you’re an engineer or something
Robert Borunda fuck a bunch of flowback. Production is where it's at. Flowback only lasts a few days. Production lasts until they pipeline the well.
Is there a gym at the man camp?
Jeff Mo I really wish someone would answer this
This has to be a joke.
Thank you for the Inf.
I'm 22, no driving experience just a remodeling helper and motorcycle mechanic.. Whats the odds of me getting hired? And what area in the field should I go for?
sam1234sargent go for EOT that’s what I’m going for I’m only 19
As a chef by profession, is there any use for me in the oil business? Seriously asking.....
Yes you could work in a man camp for a catering company. The catering people in my man camp work 12 hours a day and make 15/hour. I see them work 7 days a week for a couple months straight
@@UNDETGreenMT That's HORRIBLE! $15 measly per hour??? And you work 7 days a week!?
@@kseke25 there's plenty of people with no real work experience getting hired to do other things. I've been working in sand for the last year and they started me out at $18/hr 90-110 hours a week

Will they hire dudes straight out of high school?
Jeremiah Mead yeah I’m straight hs also and yes they will
Hell yea. I started straight out of highschool 10 years ago
Yes. I did 30 years ago. When it slowed down. Went to University did my Chemical Engineering (was not a starving student). Then back to drilling. Then Consulting. Then Overseas. Then Downtown Houston, Calgary. Then started my own drilling company. Then Retired at 47. Learn the language.....of oil. Now I wait for opportunities, good buys. Never really leave the patch.
Do you have to have a GED or high school diploma?

In 2019-2020 will the oilfield still be good money? I just got my cdl and oilfield is my goal
The oil prices are rising.
2019 and 2020 will more than likely be booming. I'm currently in Williston, ND. And I know companies are looking for drivers.
Brauntrucking.com I've been there since 2013. Great company with great pay. Tell Jesse that Adam sent you.
And of course our website is down. Braun trucking Inc on Facebook. Hit them up and tell them Adam sent you.
Nice video spot on.cco certified crane operator on the rig.what can you tell me please.send reply sir thank you

Yes cooks work at the man camp and provide meals
@@JayFlatOut How's the food? Would it be hard for someone to maintain a healthy diet?

I’ve been in Vegas a on and off
a few questions - is there some database of companies that offer housing as part of their employment? also if they do offer housing is it included no matter what, or do we have to pay rent? and if yes, is it subsidized?
Also, I would like to do such a job for 1 year - is it ok if I tell any potential employer than I want to work in it for one year and not BS him that I came to make a career?
They aren’t called laborers. Their called hands, green hats. WORMS
What if I don’t have car
Oil fields about to be over saturated, rates will go down.
Any reply?
TheHardcoreLife What company you work for
Sounds like Williston in 13
B.s. I walk in and out of any business in Odessa Kermit Orla just like any other area. The waits are not any different
TheHardcoreLife same thing in any city across the country I'm in loving today was in Odessa all last week
I am going to be a well operator for syndicate energy in Watford City north Dakota is this a good job to start with
Yea
Thanks brotha stay safe
Hows the job going?
30 n hr? Aint no 15k a month
Good luck
