just bought it on costco for 699, hope its a good purchase, im a cse student who does alot of programming and ai/ml development and also a bit of video editing. I didnt get one with a gpu cuz i wanted a lightweight portable laptop with a good battery life and this one also seems to have a decent integrated one. hope this is good enough for my use case.
@@rohitreddykovvuri6556 that doesnt seem to be a bad option either, but i mean this acer has double the ram, a better processor. the asus just has a better display. and also i personally prefer 16 inch over 14 inch
I also upgraded from an older Dell 2 in 1 and I find it hard to use my Dell now. This is much larger (though not heavier), much faster, and has many more useful features. The only thing I miss on rare occasions is the ability to fold the screen back (the actual 2 in 1) but my other laptops can serve that purpose.
I have this from Costco as well. Agree that this is the cheapest in when compared the same to other brands. Main selling point is that it has 32g and the top end ultra processor. Battery life lasts around 8hrs. One of just main gripe is the heat and noise. Ironically, Quiet mode works best for me as the fan wont spin aggressively. Heat blowing to the screen is hot. My solution on that is to just put it on a laptop stand and open the screen way back and just hook it up on the my bigger monitor. I also looked at the Ryzen Oled version but got turned off by the 16gb option as I normally just keep my laptop for a few years.
Hi, I agree that the fans start spinning when u push this but I liked the fast that it ports the air up and away from my lap... though this is in front of the screen. The 32gb is a big plus and will make sure you get years of usage without showing this down. My only fear is that this ultra processor is benchmarking lower performance than some of last year's Ryzen and Core I processors (although with better battery life). The new snap dragon processors ( releasing this month) will beat the ultra in both. Thankfully Costco does have a 90 day return policy.
@@NuReview-lc3bf lol. Was debating internally if this will be returned or not because of the nuisance. Ended up keeping it as I do believe Acer had this design since 2020 and not much of an issue had popped out of this. Also, other selling point is the Arc GPU which is comparable to the 780m already. I do casual game a bit and is not conviced that the Snapdragon Elite's will be able to handle that (just yet due).
@chronicle_4 , keep an eye on those new snapdragon processors... the prelim tests seem to be amazing. Then agai n it won't have anything to compete with the Arc Gpu.... always a trade off 😔
Thanks for the honest review! I saw in one of the comments that you mentioned that the fans can get pretty loud. If you don't mind me asking, do the fans turn on when browsing and watching 4K youtube? (I run an external monitor hence why I'm asking about 4K)
Great review. I am accustomed to running at least 3 virtual machines simultaneously. I plan to run a virtual lab consisting of a linux server acting as security device/ router widows server 2019, 2 windows 10 pro workstations and a windows xp pro machine. Can this laptop be upgraded to 64 gigs? My internet searches have been inconclusive. Thanks
Does the air vent below the screen through hot air at the screen in heavy use??Is it a concern for long term use? Does that degrade the screen quality over time?
I will be honest that I also was concerned about this when I bought it but so far it has not been an issue. The air coming up does not seem to heat up the bezel or the screen in any way. I do appreciate that the air doesn't burn my legs the way that my back venting laptops do!!
Hello, glad you liked the video. You can indeed connect this to a 4k display but the resolution you output will depend on the source. For example if you play a 4k video from this and output to your TV it will be in 4k resolution assuming your cable supports it.
How much material flex is there on the laptop? For example, if you press on the lid, press on the touchpad, etc.. Is the screen wobbly when it's open or do the hinges hold the screen in a nice tight position?
Hi, I tried pressing on the lid with it closed and there did not seem to be much flex. There is some flex on the TouchPad and the space between the TouchPad and the keys but In normal use it does not seem noticeable. The hinges in the screen work well to hold it in place... no issues there. Hope this helps.
The fans can get pretty loud but you can have them quiet down if you lower the performance setting by a notch. To be honest it is about as loud as most other Windows laptops with a higher end processor. In terms of benchmarks I ran a few when I first got this and compared them to some of the top performers on the internet. The core 9 ultra is not the highest performing processor and in fact in many tests the core i9 and i7 did better (though this was in the top end of the charts just not the top). Where this will excel is in any AI related processing and in areas that require a GPU. It is a good balance of power and battery life but it is not the top of the food chain for power.

I’m thinking to get one on costco. Saw the deal for 699 and thought it’s a good one. I’m also a CS student
Currently confused between this one and Asus zenbook 14 which is also marked at 699 on best buy
@@rohitreddykovvuri6556 I'd go with this one, if you're a CS student you'll be happy to have the extra 2" of screen real estate.

I also bought it for $699 at Costco and so far I'm very happy. Gotta love that 3 year Costco warranty too!
I'm impressed with this on paper. The webcam and noise canceling microphone just wow!! Time for an upgrade from my Inspiron 14" 2-in-1 from 2021.

On sale for 750 right now.
A steal deal ....
Yep just picked one up
Well done review. I just purchased this laptop and am waiting for it to arrive. Thank you!
Your most welcome.😊 Hope you enjoy the laptop.

In case anyone is curious about Linux, I loaded Mint on this laptop and it works great.
Great, thank you for your review, this one is for me.
I am glad the review was helpful. I think you will enjoy the laptop.!!
@NuReview-lc3bf I bought the laptop and I'm loving it thank you again.
what is capacity of battery? i want to buy version with 125U Ultra but it has only 50Wh battery i wonder if its stand 8-10h

Nope. The ram is soldered on.
@dudude7214 Thanks, too bad, so far it looks like I will have to buy a very bland looking HP with 64gb of ram
As Dudude mentioned, the RAM cannot be upgraded and 32gb is the Max the sell it with... for now.
@@RevGunn-jq3cq Good luck man!

Can you please do a hand in hand comparison video of this model with the Acer Swift Go 14?🥺
I will try and get my hands on a Go Swift 14 and get this review up soon. Thank you for the review request :)

Hope this doesn't sound too dumb, but can I get a 4k display when connecting it via HDMI 2.1 to a 4k tv or monitor? Gr8 vid, very THOUGHTFUL.~`

Great, good review tks!
Glad you liked it. Stay tuned for a follow up review after using this for the last few months.
What's the exact weight of this laptop?
Hi... the laptop as configured weighs just over 3.5 lbs (1.59 kg)
What's the refresh rate?
60 Hz for the model in this review (IPS display); the OLED display has 120 Hz refresh rate
Would this be good for an electrical engineer major?
If you need processing power with good battery life then this will be a good choice for you especially considering how light weight it is.
