    It's interesting that all these RUclips videos over the past few months have been raving about the Turin, MiiCoffee, Gemilai... that has been around for the past 5 years. So, why now? My guess is that Turin (Espresso Outlets house brand and really the only thing they almost ever have in stock) is trying to capitalize on the recent success of the DF64 grinder. And all these RUclipsr's are, shock, bought and paid for. Thanks for being one of the few I've seen that is legitimately objective. (Also kudos for the AeroPress shout out, my favorite brew method)

    Full disclosure, Gaggia classic Pro and DF64 gen 2 owner here.
    I feel like an extra $50 or something to the Turin's (or whatever brand it's under) for better quality control would make a massive difference. I can forgive some sharp edges, but the parts not fitting well together as noted REALLY shows corners cut. The buttons on the PID would annoy me too, but I can understand if they would be a "set and forget" thing. Potential mods for a manual flow control would be something I think the modding community would like! The standard portafilter is a nice feature.
    It might be a Gaggia killer, but time will tell on quality control. Personally, I paid $450 for my Evo Pro (US market, so standard 9 bar spring already installed) and I've seen kits for the Gagguino mod for around $100, or a PID for $30 if you don't buy a kit. Knowing the Turin's chinese build quality here, I think a gen 2 would be a better option in a few years. The gen 2 df64 is certainly a quality feeling grinder compared to the first one!

      That Evo pro has a coating on the boiler thats been flaking into the water. They can say it's inert but who knows if its hazardous to your health.

      I just got my Legato in the mail and build quality looks great. Also, this machine has been around for years in Asia. Not a totally new build as many seem to think - just new to the USA.

    Comparing this machine to the DF grinders is the most irrelevant comparison to make.

    • @itsxris
      @itsxris  9 месяцев назад +6

      its made by the same manufacturer
      correction: may not possibly be made by the same manufacturer but should be kept to the same standards as the DF line of grinders given the whitelabeling of the product, at the very least

      Do you actually have a citation that the manufacturer of the the DF grinders is making this espresso machine, as opposed to, “it’s marketed in the US by the guys that sell Turin products”?
      Do you even have a citation that all the DF grinders that Espresso Outlet sell are even made by the same factory?

    • @coffeem8011
      @coffeem8011 9 месяцев назад

      @@adamg.manning6088In that case it would still be valid to compare this to the df64 because both are sold under the Turin name. Regardless of which manufacturer(s) build the DF64 and Legato, Turin should be careful about putting out a new product that lacks the build quality of their other products.

      @@adamg.manning6088 you’re absolutely right. So few people actually understand white labeled products. Sure it’s possible that the same factory in China made this machine and the grinders, but most likely it’s completely different factories.

    You're talking about devices made by different manufacturers as ones made by the same manufacturer...
    Machines with a vibration pump are not supposed to present 9 bar pressure on the gauge as well.

    The pressure is around 15 bar. How did you manage 9 bar shots. The so called Flow control certainly could have controlled that. A tighter grind would actually cause the pressure to increase?

    own the same machine. the buttons for timer and preinfusion needs to be held for 3 seconds. That's why you find them hard to be used. But ngl I kinda hate the machine since the shots are coming out meh compared to my ecm machine.

      using "niche killer" because its an overused tagline for every new budget grinder ever since Hoffmann reviewed the original DF64
      already mentioned early in the video its a white-labeled product under many names :)
