No gatorade in Britain? Odd. It was designed as something to restore bodily fluids (water and electrolytes) lost during physical activity. Created by the University of Florida, at the request of their (American) football coach, and their mascot is the Gator (alligator), hence Gatorade. 🙂

Sadly, while Kraft is a worldwide distributor, . . . Spray Cheese and the snacks shown are not legal to sell as food in most countries outside the USA due to some very questionable (banned) ingredients.
America is a Capitalist country. That means corporate profits are considered more important than the health of it's citizens. It is also why there is such a push back against National Healthcare. It would mean Corporations would no longer be able to consider Americans as disposable.

It was part of his end of the year junior class history project. His teacher gave him a B- but his teacher Stanley Pratt said if you can get the government to adopt your flag I will give you a better grade because the teacher did not like his project and thought it was basically stupid because he had 50 stars on it when they were still only 48 states but two years after he was invited to Washington DC on July 4, 1960 for a flag raising ceremony at the US Capitol and his teacher was impressed and finally gave him that A that he wanted

Not only did John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both die on America’s 50th birthday/anniversary, but in an equal parts cruel and also hilarious anecdote, some of Adams’ last words included “At least Thomas Jefferson still survives.”, unaware that Jefferson had actually died several hours earlier. Probably why nobody told him what had happened was because they wither didn’t wish to upset him on his deathbed and/or he might be confused and/or not believe it in his current state.

Well, keep in mind word of mouth traveled much slower so likely the news didn’t reach John’s family. The biggest kicker is that both were essential in drafting the Declaration of Independence, and that while we commend the 4th of July the 13 colonies voted to revolt the British, it was actually on the 2nd of July when congress voted to declare independence. It was redrafted on the 3rd but the proclamation was sent on the 4th of July.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but Alaska was actually sold to the US by Russia in 1867. The purchase was called "Seward's Folly," after then Secretary of State William Seward, because most Americans at the time believed that the land was worthless. It was initially bought as a base for trade with Asia, but also proved to be a good strategic military base in WWII.

Seward's Folly - US purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867 for $7 Million. It became the 49th state in January 1959, followed by Hawai'i as the 50th 7 months later. I am surprised that Hawai'i doesn't have the longest coast line, given the number of islands, but I guess it could be going for contiguous coastline or the islands are still just too small to compare.

I worked at little Debbie's factory. I made the oatmeal pies.. fudge rounds...nutty buddies...powdered and chocolate and glazed mini donuts...honey buns..the factory is not huge. But for the record the nutty buddies bars are a royal pain in the butt to make. The wafers that make them up are so fragile it is insane. Also if you make it to America..a lot of our plants here that make these snacks will give tours. Little debbie has a cooling tower for the donuts that is at least 4 stories high and a pain to clean. Take a tour there... Gentry Arkansas...the town smells like fresh burnt brownies when they clean the ivens.. but fresh baked browines when they are doing production.

Gatorade is actually a sports drink meant to help with hydration, but some people drink it in place of soda. It has almost as much sugar & a lot of salt, so don’t overdo it. I love Chicken in a Bisket crackers & TGIF cheddar & bacon potato skins. Little Debbies has a whole line of snack cakes, muffins, & donuts. My favorites are the Swiss Rolls & the Nutty Buddy bars (peanut butter & wafers covered in chocolate).

    • @lizadedeaux
