    This happens SO often in CA politics. There was a near identical case in San Francisco with a widely unpopular city supervisor who had been representing the Castro district. Those who were more progressive ran like 5 candidates against him, which split the vote and let him easily get reelected. I saw this coming right away with Porter/Lee, and knew Schiff would so easily ride to victory.
    Also I have to look into this but there were a bunch of ads maligning Porter with a black woman's voice doing the voiceover. I now feel like I have to look into if these ads were actually backed by Schiff. Wouldn't surprise me if they were.

    • @MattCorrales
      @MattCorrales 8 месяцев назад

      They were schiff pac ads. And they were racist af. But I don’t like the idea of forcing a Black woman who is 100% correct on the issues out, which is also racism. Porter should’ve been the one supporting a Black Leftist who would’ve only served a single term.

  • @seanfulldark
    @seanfulldark 8 месяцев назад

    Yes, the problem is not that we take the money, we don't run away with the money! Let's be honest here the biggest problem with this bribe is that every single person that is a politician honors the bribe! Let's take the money from Raytheon and Boeing and then immediately make bills to make them pay in other ways and then when they complain about it we can put it on the news and say" but you gave me money, and I openly stated in my campaign that I was totally going to regulate you what you thought giving me money was going to make me not regulate! you you gave me money not the votes for the job!" and then when the corporations complained they can't take the money back you've already spent it on your campaign they can't kick you out of office because if they do that after you've made a big press release after it people are going to know that! At best they have to stop giving you money, and then you can release a campaign stating ohh look they're stop giving me money because I actually did my job! Making them look bad so they're stuck in a catch 22 remember blackmail worked in both directions! That's why the number one method of getting rid of your blackmail is to reveal your secret because the blackmailer always is actually at the lower end of the scale! Even though Katie is right, she should have planned it properly by not having another super left-leaning person running against her sure and just practically set up a team! Sorry for a paragraphed long comment but this is my detailed diatribe!

    Barbara Lee has a better foreign policy record, but I would've still been happy with Katie's whiteboard lessons on the Senate floor. If elections were actually free and fair, and each candidate had equal resources with which to win over support from voters, I'd be shocked if one--or even both--of them made it through the primary, as experienced politicians with actual plans that would benefit working & middle-class Californians, and not just the 1 (or 5 if I'm being generous) percent. That being said, their campaigns must've known what kind of dirty (though entirely legal!) tricks Schiff might pull, and coordinated/consolidated early. Pity there's no RCV in California, or else they could've built a formidable coalition where voters didn't have to go 100% for one and zero for the other...but I guess that's why Newsome is so reluctant to let it become reality.
