I haven't watched this yet but I will. I have this exact problem so thanks in advance Phil 👍🏻
Sandtex used to make a bituminous based product with mesh it was very good.
Nice video. I didn't know scrim tape could be used outside. I get good results using Tou Pret Murex mixed with a small amount of quality caulk. Just to give it a small amount of flexibility. And doesn't shrink.
Ive used the zinsser mesh tape on cracks, its very fine, it can be applied with a thick coat of paint...it curls up a bit though.
Im not sure if they still make it.
Sorry Phil, only just got around to watching/leaving a comment. ‘Cracking’ video, as always! Are you at the Midlands show in Mansfield on Friday? Come and find me if so - I’ve got something for you to try!
See you Friday :) dead excited now lol
Imhe, expanding foam method is easiest and most reliable for curing cracks - they don't come back. Using Toupret touprelith f and sandtex trade on current job, which was a flakey, failed mess thanks to previous 🤠
How wide do you need the gap for expanding foam lol
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator i don't think you know what I'm talking about and i don't think you know what you're talking about
Just rake out the crack and use sand and cement. Then you got materials which may be used for many other tasks in future.
and the crack that keeps opening up when the weather changes and it being on clay soil/ground that alterers with weather conditions?
How to fill a crack... How very dare you! 😂
I assume that’s the tub of exterior filler that Brian said he’s got for you, When I saw him at Brewers.
Ps.
Ignore the negative comments Phil. I note you never see a video put up by those that put a negative comment.
Yep. Weighs a ton lol
Well... 25kg ;)
Hi Phil
I need your help.
How to paint over caulk with Solvent based primer/paint ?
I have big gaps on the skirting board and door frames.
I will use solvent based paint, but I am afraid that the caulk will shrink because of the paint.
Is painting with Solvent based paint required some special preparation over the caulk?
Thanks
use a decent caulk and let it dry.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator ok, great,
In some areas I will use EVO-STIK Sticks Like Turbo Adhesive,
It's not caulk, but is flexible and strong for big gaps. Do you think this type is ok for solvent based paint ?
Thanks
when blending put the sponge in a polythene bag.
so I can use it another day?
metolux metoset repair resin then fill over
what happens when the wall is moving?
Put a plant in front of it. To be honest if it’s moving it’ll still crack
Really thinking outside the box. What about repair care?
you tried sanding it lol
Yes, hard as nails. I mean put it on as flush as possible then skim over with your exterior filler after? Would be interesting to know if it did flex with the crack.
just use sand and cement Phil exterior fillers are a Rip off
what when it opens up again?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator yeah tarmac ready mixed one coat stuff is good £12 for 25kg
You won't see it from our house😂
Dust sheet on the floor ?
He's got corex
@@staffh3815 Sorry bud, so he has🙃
Didn't pick up on the floor sheeting, sorry
@liammcnulty7112 that why they have rubbers on the end of
pencils mate
Im absolutely no expert. But honestly id have cut out a section of the render around the crack and just re-rendered that section.
And when the crack comes back with the wall still moving?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator why is the wall still moving?
Was it not reinforced with rebar when it was built?
@@AntEloftheHouseofEl nope. It's only a planter, a basic foundation and built up from that.
What a load of rubbish to do it properly cut back 75mm either side of crack back to brick eml it then render back uo. Lol or just oay someone who knows what there doing
To much work
When you apply that filler, lay it off with a wet brush, not a sponge. If you do it properly, you don’t have to sand it. You want it to blend in with the render, not see the repair. You’re welcome
You will never convince me Valspar paint is good. It's not 🙄
I'll manage with it for these small walls lol
This is embarassing for a professional dec,is he blind?
I can see fine with the lights on
Why all the negativity?
Your fighting a losing battle, what was the roller all
About ,your embarrassing as a decorator
havnet you seen those rollers before to apply this stuff?
