Marc and Tony (Visconti) were very nice to us 1972 (July)in Copenhague. They searched for us a place to stay (sleep-in), drove us around the whole week. We went with them to the restaurants, to the movies, tea-shops, comics-shops, to the Student's places where different bands were playing. And Marc was all the time so funny and entertaining. We'll never forget it. We are still big fans.
Listening to this type of music, One-Hit Wonders, '60s &'70s, etc just makes me wanna be alive during this era. The music today can never be compared to this type of music.
They aren’t one hit wonders but I can see why you’d think so. 24th Cheney fox is another anthem of theirs. I’d say they never reached wide pop appeal but that’s different.
the whole sound...so full....soooo vibey and potent......it hits you in the head and almost knocks you over !.........i never fail to feel more alive ....when i hear this track.......one of Marcs best....bless him.......................
My late brother was named after marc wee r T rex mad in my family i seen t textasy tribute in 2000 and nivky finn was ther i was so amused .i have been to the tributes every year ther awsome always go dressed up \m/_
great song used to sing this to my girlfriend in pub on juke box "get if off, get it off" she would say its get it on not get it off, i would say you sing your way and I sing it my way!
I remember this TOTP show, one week later T Rex played tha Wheely festival and Mark could not be heard over the shouts from 100,000 people telling him to remove the guitar lead from his arse !!!
I hear what you are all saying, the seventies was a wild time in our lives, but nothing prepared us for the future like the present ,ie now the present does.peace.
brilliant song that never ages and never dies 1.28 its the smile marc could melt you with that big smile so sexy its amazing to think esp, after time most people from the past look less good, they look like it was yrs ago but marc seems to always look good even now
@catdog420 Totally agree ! This is real music! I was a BIG FAN! I had posters all round the walls, and I even had a liitle bag with his picture on...Showing my age, but who cares??!!! Great stuff! This is my fav song.
Ha! You are sooooooo right! Marc's ego was to the heavens, but there it should have been. The little fart, I'd love to have had the opportunity to have driven him home "that night". He might just still be alive.
That white bass is one of 20 slab bodied fender precision basses. Made only in 1966, and made solely for britain, they are one of the most sought after fender guitars ever made. Actually, this very bass was for sale not too long ago.
this song was rec orded by the great Liberrace and he was backed up by Lawrence Welk and Ray Noble. You couldn't see them because they are listed on the album under false nam es
First concert I ever saw. 73. Opened up for 3 Dog Night. Half way through their act a 30 or 40 foot stage light fell over. The only thing that saved them was other wires strung over their heads. Otherwise it would have been Bang a Gong.
"You're dirty, sweet and you're my girl."
One of the sexiest lines ever used in a song.
I agree! ❤🎉
Marc's guitar playing is epic in here!! :)

Definetly One of the best rock songs ever, and one of the best presenters for a show
The sax is the most underrated part of this song. Them and Roxy music really incorporated that instrument well.
This song is always a crowd pleaser. :) EAG I love it!!! :)

A lot of those kind of shows, back then, wouldn't allow live performances.
the greatest pop song of all time
I have known them thanks to Billy Elliot's movieand I loved them immediately
Thats just how Top of the Pops is
T-Rex was not a one hit wonder. 4 number ones and ten in the top ten in UK. Some great music.
wish i was born in '59 to be old enough to enjoy the 70s!
The first time I heard this song was in a movie theater in Glascow Scotland during intermission before the Mash movie was shown.
Was in London when he died back in 1977.With the headlines of the day,you would have thought a member of the royal family had passed.
This song makes me want to get it on
Ian McDonald on sax, way cool.
That's Howie Casey on sax in the video.
This was no.1 when I was born!!
simon: these guys were pretty popular for a band that only had one hit; pretty incredible how much airplay this song got in the 80s;;
4 number 1 and 4 number 2s.
This record is an English answer to the "Wall of Sound" It's fantastic.
This performance is TOTPs !

T.Rex höre ich genauso gerne wie früher als Kiddy, leider ist Marc viel zu früh von uns gegangen
Laughed my head off at catdog420's comments above. How true!
T.Rex light my fire
@catdog420 Totally agree ! This is real music! I was a BIG FAN! I had posters all round the walls, and I even had a liitle bag with his picture on...Showing my age, but who cares??!!! Great stuff! This is my fav song.

Ha! You are sooooooo right! Marc's ego was to the heavens, but there it should have been. The little fart, I'd love to have had the opportunity to have driven him home "that night". He might just still be alive.
This song and the Staple Singers' "I'll Take You There" are the two sexiest songs ever recorded. Just saying.
That white bass is one of 20 slab bodied fender precision basses. Made only in 1966, and made solely for britain, they are one of the most sought after fender guitars ever made. Actually, this very bass was for sale not too long ago.
