      he's not inconsistent though... if it's standup he is a standout fighter, but if it hit's the ground he's very well done, no inconsistency there, he's just consistently bad at defending against submissions and getting to his feet.

    That first example with him and Poirier shows what can happen when you're a good fighter who works to patch up the holes in your game. Dustin was in the same position and now look where he is. I don't know if it's Michael's fault or his coach's but it seems like he's been stagnant for years.

      He started dealing with high lvl grapplers in my opinion. You can’t be in the top 10 without any minor improvement in your Bjj/wrestling game no matter how good of a striker you are.
      Edit: before anyone mentions it was only Khabib that exploited him look at all his submission losses and Decision losses that were mainly him getting dominated on the ground earlier in his career. Imo, MJ will still go down as one of the Greatest Inconsistent Fighters in UFC history lmao.

    That punched to the jaw by Josh Emmett is about as hard as I've ever seen anybody hit on the jaw. That is the one exception to the the theory that Michael Johnson can be just about anybody on the feet but if he gets on the mat then he's done for.
