    Us basketball gets rooms for their players men’s and women + fam and support staff. Team USA will also share any extra rooms with other orgs. Ie US golf team. In the past the org has reserved a cruise ship.

    The fact team USA Basketball quite never stays in the Olympic Village (the cruise ship etc...) is wild to me. Especially that it seems okay for everyone.

    • @darkesinger
      @darkesinger 2 месяца назад +1

      Tbf, those cardboard beds in the village were very short, most of those guys wouldn't even fit on one. I saw a 5'6" runner on one and their feet reached the edge

    • @Kai-gr6sg
      @Kai-gr6sg 2 месяца назад +1

      They literally said they've got a huge number of people with them. It'll be the wildest thing if they actually stayed in the village. Including their family, tons of media, officials, securities, personal medics, we're talking about 200 to 300 number of people for both men and women.

      Literally most of the top athletes from ALL of the countries don’t. It’s not a USA thing!

    • @tyreek.6815
      @tyreek.6815 2 месяца назад

      Did you also not see Simone Biles? She literally had to stay in her room because she was being “attacked” with having to take pictures and interact with everyone who are respectfully happy to see her. So given the fact USA basketball is more popular than majority of athletes from every other country… not to mention has their own millions on millions in their fandom. Including their international fanbase… then yes them staying out the village is literally a safety thing.

    • @elpoiro
      @elpoiro 2 месяца назад

      Thanks to all, it's interesting and I understand some of the points made here. I just thought the Olympic Village was forbidden to non-athletes, even family members and pets, except the staff, my bad.
      But the fact they're in luxuous hotel, even more people can wait for them. USA basketball wants that attention because they need their family + 50 people around them, they have to be available for the sponsors, the medias etc...
      Girls are even more impressive on the Olympic Stage with an astonishing serie of titles, i didn't heard a thing coming from A'ja Wilson or Britney Griner as they stayed in the O.Village.
      The beds argument though could be a good one. But how did Giannis and all the other tall guys from other countries ?
      I saw on Yahoo Sports " How Team USA is expected to act in Paris", Simone Biles praising how Team USA did an amazing job to make their athletes at ease and providing them all they need. Even to the size of the matresses and Team USA Olympic Village Director, Daniel Smith, said they had shipped larger beds for some athletes so they could stay in the Olympic Village... They even had access to nursery for mothers athletes with the possibility of breastfeeding, or was it fake news?
      It could be a good thing too, having to stay with athletes of all disciplines and all countries. Most of them struggling to have a decent pay although they're the best in their sport.
      And of course they're not the only one, but with them it's systematic. Since 92 Dream Team, Team USA never stayed in the Olympic Village.
      But i have to be fair, France didn't stayed too. The fact Basketball Tournament was in 2 different towns could explain it easily. In France when the French Comittee sayed the first part would be in Lille, (who cares for Lille when you're supposed to be in Paris ? Even most of French don't). French basketball fans felt it like a betrayal, a disgrace, a shame for THE collective olympic sport by excellence. I totally understood when Boris Diaw said they would prepare accordingly by staying on their own.
      I'm maybe too idealistic that's all, but with professionalism and extremely bankable stars, the Olympic Village is may be irrelevant for some now.
      Thanks to all for constructive answers, overlooking my grumpy state of mind at the moment. It's just a matter of me, doesn't wanting to recalibrate myself to the era i live in. Thanks again.

    I respect the accomplishement of these athletes, but I really never got the idea of "fandom". People sacrificing their energy and time just so they can see these athletes and praise them like gods. At the end of the day, they are just humans like us.
