    I grew up on Bajas and Manx Buggies. At age 53 I still own a very nice rail buggy set up for the desert, disk brakes, power steering, built engine, etc. Bug powered off road vehicles are easy and affordable to maintain and lots of fun.

      It was everything we wished it would be on camera. Joe's back was sore for days from it, but I think it's well worth it 😉 and finding that was cool! I like that it had a basket of tools/parts in it in case anyone broke down. I believe the phone also had a dial connection to call soneone, but I didn't check

    I've wanted a vw bug since I was a little kid! My dad has had a couple of 'em (he has a 1970 sunroof sedan right now). I'm gonna get me one eventually it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Y'all look like you're having a ton of fun!

    Good video. My first car I bought was a bug. Got another one now that I'm gonna make off-road with axial electric A/C motors. One per wheel, making it AWD. Batteries and controllers where engine and transmission originally goes. Tube chassis with long travel suspension. Rear suspension outside bug keeping it a 4 seater

    When I got into Baja bugs all the videos besides the Baja 1000 were people driving their bugs like a 4x4. They'd approach a tiny hill very slow and analyze it and then lightly step on the gas and everyone would comment on how incapable they were compared to a 4x4 when in reality if you drive right they're more capable off road. My bug consistently surpassed everything else on the trail and it was nothing but lifted with truck tires lol momentum is your friend in a bug

    • @dustbuggy
      @dustbuggy  5 лет назад +2

      Very true! We actually went offroading with a 4x4 and our white baja bug buddy and us two were flying everywhere and had to stop and wait for him to follow haha

    It always takes me much longer to watch your videos than the actual run time, because I find myself rewinding to watch many of the actions scenes over and over. I had to rewind many times with this one. Great Video, I especially liked the jumps that your group got out of that little dirt ramp!
    I was wondering if Dust Buggy or anyone from the group is using anything other than stock VW tie rod ends?
    My area is rockier than what I have seen in most of your videos and seem to take a toll on the tie rod ends. I went through my 1965 cut and turned (instead of adjusters) link pin front end a while back. replacing the steering gear box and added gusseted spindle carriers. The tie rods are also reinforced with tubing welded to the outside diameter. Everything is tight and well adjusted, but seems the that the tie rod ends ( one and a half years old ) may be the weak point for now. They haven't failed, they just seem a little more worn than I would like them to be.
    There is suppose to be a way to use a certain Ford tie rod end, but that is all I know. Just curious?

    • @dustbuggy
      @dustbuggy  5 лет назад +1

      We have never upgraded the tie rod ends, and have not heard of using ford ones. But if you can't find info about that, you could try to find moog brand ones, if they make them. They typically make factory and heavy duty style parts, so they may have something that will help
