  • I recently got my new Jackson SL2 Soloist after coming home from vacation. I was so excited to hold this guitar in my hands, but I was shocked as I played it. See what I did to this guitar to turn it into a superior beast.

Great video and riffing as always! 😎 I hope you got some discount to make up for the condition the guitar arrived with you.

I bought the exact model. Regarding the string height, I encountered the same problem. Can you elaborate more on the 'hammering the studs'? So just hammer it down using some rubber hammer or something?
The guitar is more expensive than top the the line Ibanez Prestige (which in my experience, will always came flawless), & yet it came with such lousy qc, it really pissed me off, but what to do, I love the look 😂

Yes, you can use a rubber hammer or put some cloth between the studs and the hammer. Hammer them down very gently but it worked very well in my case. And after all I love it way more than the new American series.

You may want to try Bare Knuckle Holy Diver bridge/ Cold Sweat neck, a ceramic Nailbomb Set or Ceramic WarPig Set.

I really like the JB and the Jazz but if you want something else the Petrucci sets are amazing at lead stuff, specially the Sonic Ecstasy. I have a MJ Dinky and it's amazing and my American Series SL3 is KILLER. No flaws so far on any of those!

Very Dimmu Borgir sounding track. Super cool.

Thank you very much. Yes, I recently discovered Dimmu Borgir again, a band I listened to a lot in the late 90’s among other Black Metal bands.

Stunning guitar and very strange that something made in Japan came with some flaws.
Maybe you just like the strings a little too low.

Yeah, looked like someone in the factory didn’t finish his job. The lowest possible string height at the 12th fret was above 2 mm. So very high. Made sweepings nearly impossible to play. But now everything is fine. ☺️

I used my Axe FX and some delay for the lead sounds.

Hi!! How's the neck profile on this one? Thin, medioum or thick? I asl because I own a Sl1 and a Sl2h. Sl1 1 feels thin, sl2h rather thick. Best regards!

It has a nice thin profile. Very easy to play and super comfortable.

Please tell me it has stainless steel frets.

Neue Gitarre muß aber auch erst mal mit einem schönen Laggavulin oder Ardbeg eingeweiht werden! Sonst quietscht die Gitarre
