Toshiki, thank you for telling these stories of your countries history, they are fascinating. The photographs are stunning when you think when they were taken and it's great to see them but the best part is you giving them context and telling the story!

You've come a long way, baby! My beginning was in the 1950s when Japan was junk, and after WWII, a reviled junk at that. Anything bearing a "Made in Japan" label was derided as "Japanese junk." All these years later I have come to revere Japan and its amazing culture, and I certainly like it better than my own. Your beautiful, creative and instructive videos continue to increase my understanding and love of Japan and its culture. A heartfelt thank you!!

I have loved learning the history of early photography in Japan. It is something I had never knew I wanted to learn, but I am glad you have shared Kusakabe Kimbei’s story. Thank you.

Very interesting video. All I knew about japanese photography was in the Provoke style. It's great but my knowledge is short-sited I guess.
