  • The new Honda CB1000R is a awesome naked bike with a 998cc inline four-cylinder engine. You can count on 143 horsepower at the 10,500 rpm redline with 76 pound-feet of torque that comes on fully at 8,250 rpm and around 150mph for a top speed. Price in Sweden 149.000kr. There is an R+ version with quick shifter and more goodies for 10.000kr more. This bike is in the same price range and specs as my 2017 Triumph Speed Triple R so it was fun to compare them.
    This video simply states my personal opinion and is not a in-depth review.
    Some specs:
    Max. Power Output 143 HP (107kW) @ 10,500 RPM (107kW)
    Max. Torque 76.7 lb/ft TQ @ 8,250 RPM (104Nm)
    Fuel Tank Capacity 4.2 gal
    Fuel Consumption / Miles Per Gallon 40 MPG
    Brakes ABS System Type 2 channel
    Front 310mm double disc
    Rear 256mm single disc

    Nice to see you riding this beautiful bike. Honda fans has been waiting it for long. I'm glad that, like Triumph with the Speed Triple, Honda choose to create a bike with their own style, not being similar to the other transformer-like 1000cc naked bikes.

      Cheers MrKiddo, Honda call it a 'Neo Sports Café' bike, someone said it´s a Speed Triple rival, seems pretty accurate :) Its an awesome bike for sure!

      absolutely agrees with you on the styling of this bike. Looks great and it love it. Now someone brings out the licenplate holder and light so the mud guard can be removed to give that longer wheel base a clean look.

    Nice. We are getting it this summer. I like it. I had a Hornet 900 which did not have as much power as this machine.

    It's not a bad looking bike but the grey is a bit mundane. The red is best then the black but the Triumph Speed Triple is a better looking and sounding bike. The new Triple 1050 RS and S are my favourites[ now with 148 hp].

    Looks a fantastic bike, and looks more of an upright position? Might have to go sit on one of those. Cheers for taking us along.

      Thanks man, yes upright position very comfy, well the saddle is pretty thin and hard but no problem under the short time I rode it.

    What revs will it pull from in 6th gear? I like a bike that is very tractable. Useful for riding through cities if you're feeling lazy. The engine sounds characterful, and it looks top quality.
    Do I need one of these, or would an XSR900 be enough?
    Your Speed Triple R doesn't look better.
    Too many riding modes etc.
    Another good video. Great channel, but I'm hoping England beat Sweden tomorrow.

      I didn't test that, but it deliver its torque in the 6,000-8,000 rpm range. I dont want to give advice on what bike to get, it depends on so many things.
      England is favorite but I think Sweden can surprise, again :) Thanks!

    Seems like a nice bike. I test roads a few Honda bikes in the past and found that the clutch was kind of stiff. Ride safe bud.

      After having a triple for 10 years I'm looking for the I4 turbine sound. That triple gear whine gets old after a while riding it every day.

    How would you compare this bike with your Speed Triple? Flickability, seat height, performance, throttle smoothness...?

    • @GurrasGarage
      @GurrasGarage  6 лет назад

      To be honest test ride them yourself, they are both exceptional bikes, the Honda being a little taller than the other, the seat height is 830 mm on the Honda 825 mm on the Speed Triple. I´ll keep my Speed Triple because of the sound and looks of the bike, plus closer to a dealer, very important to me :)

      Gurra How would you compare their flickability and throttle smoothness?

    • @prndownload
      @prndownload 6 лет назад +4

      Ricardo the Honda is going to be next level compared to the Triumph. I've test ridden a speed triple, the old Honda CB1000R and owned a street triple for 10 years. I preferred the street over the speed but I'd take the honda over both now. Owning a triple at some point is a must have experience but the honda felt like a surgeons scalpel. Throttle and gear box was like an extension of myself. Sharp, smooth and in full control of every piston firing.

    • @prndownload
      @prndownload 6 лет назад

      I just had my street triple stolen for the 2nd time in 9 months. As much as I want either the gsxs or the cb1000r I don't think I'm going to be able to get another one while living at the same place.

    I'm not to keen on the looks. I would say you are right, your Triumph does look better. For the money I would rather buy a used Honda CB1100RS. Looks like that was a Honda demo day with the big truck and all.

    • @GurrasGarage
      @GurrasGarage  6 лет назад

      Yes the CB1100RS looks nice. Retro bikes are getting very popular, I think all brands have them now :)
