- For a limited time Amex is offering 60K Avios as a welcome bonus on the British Airways Premium Plus card. Does this balance out the recent negative changes the card has gone through? I'll share my thoughts and plans regarding this credit card and apply for it at the end of the video!
Ayy the video is here, really good breakdown!! Also Video production is improving a lot!!
Thank you!
I've taken the plunge on this one and also cancelled my gold card. I live near LHR and both available lounges there are really poor, so no obvious benefit for us.
Hope you enjoy the BAPP card and the companion voucher!
Update-it’s now 31k points when you’ve spent £6k in 3 months
The 60K offer is on (again) until Oct 8. It only shows when you apply via ba.com (if you go there and scroll down, you'll see the ad for it)
Still my favourite AMEX, will have to cancel it for a fee refund though as the new £15k spend target is out of reach for me.
Yeah, I think the £15k threshold for the companion voucher is more problematic than the annual fee increase.
With both the cost of the points and tax its still a lot cheaper to fly to Scotland from London using easyjet.
Because of the bank holidays and booking just 2 days before departure, EasyJet was barely cheaper than BA. But in any case, we were only considering flights out of LCY.
has the offer gone? I can not see the offer on the BA website anymore
Yes, it ended on June 11th. The current best I'm aware of is 30K Avios via a referral but they will very likely run another 60K offer later in the year (based on previous years)
Hi , can I close any of the amex cards without it affecting my credit ?
Closing a credit card can have some effect on the credit rating figure that agencies like Experian show you, at least because the total amount of credit available to you changes. But things even out eventually. The only thing I personally avoid is closing my oldest credit card as it affects the "age of credit" metric.
Do you know for how long the pro rata refund is available for? I heard it was until August 1st so I was planning on cancelling before that date
Yep as it stands 1st August so downgrade or cancel before then
Amex have been careful with their wording. They said that they will review the position on 1st August 2024. Anything can happen.
I think we have to assume it's August for now. They have moved this date twice before (change was originally supposed to happen last year) so they may move again but it's not a guarantee.
I s this card only available in Europe?
Amex has a similar product in many locations but this video is specific to the UK
And please what is a prorated refund
Prorated mean proportionate to the amount of days you have used the fee incurred. Unused days will be refunded. This is in relation to the annual fee.
Hello buddy, how did you get the special offer with Platinum? 3 points for every 1 pound?
I have a gold, everyday cash back and platinum between my partner and I. Thank you.
That promo usually happens when your refer someone for a Platinum.
Hey, it was a referral offer a couple of months ago (refer anyone for the Plat card and if they're approved, in addition to the referral bonus you get 3MRs per £ on all spend for the next 3 months). These things come up periodically both on Platinum and Gold (e.g. Gold had a similar one last November)
Do you know if you are allowed to apply for a supplementary card for myself? Since that gives an extra 3k points. Thanks
That's an interesting point. I've heard of people doing it (e.g. to separate different spend or to avoid carrying around the metal platinum card) but have never tried myself.
@@LoyaltyLlama That's exactly what I wanted to do. Since it would show as separate transactions on my statement differentiating the card.
However I just spoke to CS and they confirmed that it has to be under someone else's name unfortunately.
Thanks for another great video!
Glad you liked it!
