The Cellular Sessions #1: Angeline The Baker (feat. Jake Workman)

- The Cellular Sessions is something I've wanted to try for a long time now, and I finally have the time to perfect it. The idea behind it is a simple one: smartphones have finally reached a level of sophistication that only requires an instrument and a friend to record videos. No outboard gear, no extra camera equipment, nothing fancy. Simple!
If you thought 1,700 miles could keep two brothers from shooting a jam video together like "old times" ... you'd be wrong! We hope you enjoy a little bit of "Angeline The Baker".
All the best and keep rollin,
RC

This whole thing is incredible, but that second guitar break was unreal. Good lord Jake... Don't know whether I want to pick up my guitar and practice or just throw it away forever 😳
Oh man I miss hanging out with Jake. What a guy! But on the other hand nothing makes me happier than seeing him picking with Russ or performing with Ricky Skaggs.
I love hearing Russ play clawhammer. Jake great as always.
Sweet! That made me smile almost as big as Russ did at the end. Joy is not quarantined.
I love this video, this is amazing! Thanks! Please post MANY more of you and Jake!
Lucky how Jake must have a guitar already with the sixth string tuned down. He must have been expecting that call. Nice job, fellers!
My new favorite version of this tune. Both you guys are cooking on this one. And don't miss that tasteful sequence of chords Jake plays from 2:33-2:41 that lead us into the second guitar break!
NIIIIIIIIIIIICE! Thanks Russ & Jake! 🏆 If that doesn't get your foot tapping then you simply don't have a foot.
In which case you'd still be beating out the rhythm with your stumpy, rootless leg. It's just a fact. 🤣🤣
That was awesome!! You and Jake Workman are a match made in heaven
So, being smart also helps with playing music. I knew I've been missing something. Great pickin' as always. Jake's 2nd break, re watch for sure. Thanks Russ.
Thanks for sharing!
God I love these guys
Dang, all that and you play overhand style like a boss too. God extra dipped you two with talent dust. Thanks for sharing!
Great picking as always guys. I swear that Collings sounds better and better every time I hear it.
Second guitar break, mamma
That was great guys. I've heard of extreme sports but extreme social distancing is a first... 1700 miles but ya got her done...only in America! 👍
Thank you both.
Oldtimey Nirvana!!!! Most excellent!!!!!
Yessss! Thanks guys!
Okay, it's official, you guys are really aggravating to us lesser pickers.
This is full of hope for the future.
Wow great job fellas! That was great!
I love it man!
Just terrific. Thanks for posting!
DANG! That was niiiiiiiiice!!!
Makes me wanna clawhammer! Nice!
Awesome!
Awesome job guys!
Mighty fine!
awesome!
Yes sir!
sweet!
That was really neat! Thanks for sharing!! By the way, what app or program did you use to record this?
Lucy we shot the clips in standard video mode on our phones and then I assembled everything in Adobe Elements
@@81crowe how did y'all stay in time? A metronome, or you just know each other well enough to play perfectly in time halfway across the country?
@@GunnarSalyer It sounds like there is a really quiet metronome going to me.
Whole thing is fine. But what a great banjo tone.
That was a beeauut
👏
I was about to ask what you recorded this on because the sound quality is outstanding, then I saw the comments about using an Iphone 11 Pro Max. Wow, I can't believe you didn't use an external mic for that. I record live music videos for my YT channel on my cell phone and need one of those.
Question for Jake - is that your Preston Thompson acoustic? What neck width are you playing on? 1 11/16? Both of y’all sound great!
Looks like a Collings D2HA.
If somebody could throw me those guitar chords that'd be sweet.
My wife is sitting here at the kitchen table clapping. How’d ja do that. I don’t see either one of you wearing an ear piece or headset!?
