- In this video I do a complete setup of my Gibson EDS 1275. I rarely play this guitar and have not changed strings in it once! It's been over 10 years.... so today is the day and I decided to take you along for the miserable ride! LOL! Just kidding... sort of. In this video I completely setup, clean and take care of this beautiful guitar once and for all. It's been on my task list for quite some time and I decided today was the day. The guitar needed some love and go step by step regarding what I do and show the results, and at the end of the video I provide a sound demo showcasing how magnificent this guitar really sounds. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe!

Love the EDS-1275 in cherry red, I have a 2001 weighs in at 11.2 lbs
Yeah… it’s definitely time for a string change for mine too
Thanks Marty for another great video… cheers 🎸🎸
I love just about anything on this channel For that matter this is my most favorite channel out of all the channels I watch on youtube
@@kennethhoneycutt4513 man I really appreciate that. Thanks so much dude. 😎🎸
Great video Marty never really have seen a 12 string double strung and set up such a beautiful instrument I understand the reluctance of talking that out I feel the same about my Gibson RD,s cool man 👏👍🤘
It's a real pain! But this guitar just deserves it. 😎🤘
That's like changing 3 sets! I'd consider that work! 😅 10yrs between string changing? Yes, that sounds like me, too! 😂Thanks Marty 🤘
It is man! I actually paid $12.99 for the 12 string set. It's not cheap to do and it's time consuming lol.
I've never seen a 12-string being re-strung so for me this was very valuable 👍
Beautiful guitar Marty.
Many thanks! 🎸😎
You should try tuning it down and putting a Capo on the first fret, just to see how it sounds and feels on an electric 12er
Thanks a bunch Marty! I'm sure that setup tutorial helped a lot more people than you think, certainly did me. Living down here by the Aklantic Ocean makes setup adjustments a near constant thing and strings rust in the time it takes to down a beer... and that aint long around here!
No Stairway to Heaven. Beautiful guitar Marty.
I was fighting it bad. It was like a whirlpool drawing me in and I was swimming away as hard as I could. I made it out alive. Haha 😂
I have the Epiphone version and I put locking tuners on. It makes it much easier. It does take away from the vintage look, but it was worth it to me.
I dont blame you man. I actually have grown to like vintage tuners. Usually I have found that the nut slots are the biggest culprit in tuning issue I have so I start there first. 🤘🎸
Quite the string job with that guitar...lol. I can see why ten years...ha ha ha
String changing is therapeutic to some folks, I heard some people say they dint like new strings and only after some use and breaking in period?
I actually like worn in strings too. No issues with them. But they do get crusty and feel gross in the frets after a while. The last recording I did with this guitar was really difficult because the action was getting too high in the 12... so I was like... yeh gotta bite the bullet and set this baby up. lol
Nice I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a double neck with a 12 string.
The Six String on a EDS is the best sounding SG I've ever heard. Just wish the bottom neck had higher fret access. I love my EDS 1275. Mine is White w/ Gold hardware.
Yeh man! That fret access sucks! I did a video a few years ago why Jimmy Page could never play that end lick like the record on Stairway To Heaven when they were live.... and the answer was the damn fret access haha.
what about harmonics adjustment or was it spot on already
Intonation? That's was fine
Vintage STP hat looks like old Richard Petty era.
It does! I love racing and NASCAR actually. My brother drove truck/haulers for many years. I've got to meet a lot of drivers and see a lot of action. Racing has been part of my life since I was very little. Racing is similar to music and touring in a lot of ways.
D'Adarios can last a decade! Or more if u tune down a half step
Fifteen minutes to string a 12-string? It takes me 90 minutes! Do you use a motorized peg winder? I turn my pegs by hand- I just never got around to trying anything fancier.
It's not too bad once you get everything off and get the holes all lined up. My biggest struggle is I have to wear my readers now so I can see what I'm doing. It's a struggle! 🤣
I'm on 5 years with my tele. I play prob 4-5 hours a week. If u wipe em after play n keep it in a case strings can last a LONG time.
