@Mango Elephant I completely understand how such a comment can fly above your head. If you were South African, like I am, you would instinctively get what I'm referring to. Any native South African with an interest in music would recognize that sound although they wouldn't necessarily be able to explain it. It's a feeling. And my observation is not about claiming Jonathan Butler in a parochial way. You can't learn this kind of sound in any music school module, it's innate.
I'm a huge fan of Jonathan Butler. From his self titled masterpiece back in the late 80s to his latest string of gems on this Ubuntu album, he never disappoints. He also happens to be a genuinely nice guy who took the time to chat with me before one of his concerts.
