Also it was shocking that a Grand Theft Auto movie released *20 years* before the first GTA game
There is nothing better than 70's style car crash and chase movies. I love the low budget look and feel compared to the green screen effect. The original gone in 60 seconds was and always will be better than the remake and that is what led me to this movie back in the 80's as I was growing up.
Those real actors
Not many of us get to do what we want in life but Ron Howard even at a young age had a vision of what he wanted to do in the industry and to his credit he made it happen.
Ron Howard’s career as one of cinema’s most commercially successful and acclaimed directors began with this car crash comedy executive produced by Roger Coreman, the king of B movies.
Eat My Dust was good
🤣👍
Battle Beyond the Stars was actually not as bad as I thought it would be
What a fantastic 70's classic!
One day I hope to be able to say "Get out of my mansion."
Before the games they had this.
LONG before
This mean, ....
That GTA is not actually R* games propriety
@@badeamihai366 no, it means the trademark for the name is not fully owned by Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto is just a general law term for a car hijacking in USA
@@AlamoOriginal well, thx for telling me.
Haha, they’re not related. Completely separate things.
I have been having so much fun going through these old car movies and this one did not disappoint!!!
01:40 "Get out of my mansion !" 🤣
Oh, this isssss definitely best movie about GTA games.
Sure wish they made movies like this now...
Instead we are stuck with Fast and the Furious
@Silent Hill Fan yeah, thank goodness for RUclips 👍
Boring and outdated?
Nah, these 1970s flicks are in their own unique time capsule. Let Hollywood rot with their Fake-And-Futile series, it's what Paul Walker would have wanted.
Love these old movies, darn good arm to throw dynamite that far of a speeding car
My thought exactly :D
Great film, thanks for putting it on You tube.
Wow. Got the whole "family" in it. Brother Clint, Father Rance and "Mother" Marion Ross. :D
This is a great watch, thank you
I watched this so so long ago and I couldn’t help but remember a lot of the scenes in this movie. It was old for my time, but it was a fun watch even as a kid.
While this movie "Grand Theft Auto" isn't exactly what we think it is, it at least still DOES involve hijacking cars
Loved every minute
🔥🔥🔥🔥Ron Howard is a pure genius. Excellent movie and soundtrack🔥🔥🔥
Not a bad director either.
This was a awesome movie 🎬 more people should watch this
This hasn't been on TV for decades. I never forgot about it though, with Nancy Morgan in it. She was a doll.
Ron Howard was so popular for a number of shows but when I saw Marion Cunningham and I could not help but to think of him as Richie Cunningham.
rockstar games really loves this movie they make a game about it
I think this reminds me of GTA 5 of all the franchise. Also, the radio jockey is 😢 radio jockey from the original Deathrace with Stallone!
Ron Howard first Directing gig thanks to Rodger Corman
And it made a lot of money
I believe it’s Ron’s best action film
The first 10 mins of this movie plays like many a classic 80s movie !
大好きな映画なので観られてよかったです!ありがとうございます
Chose Ron Howard for my film class and this was one of the movies I decided to watch. Can't lie this movie is pretty good.
Thnx so much ~
This is the greatest video game movie that came out two decades before the actual video game 😂
Made me laugh 😂thx Ron Howard ❤and Happy Days mom! ❤from Australia 😊
The 70s was full of movies with grand endings, hundreds of actors, spiraling out of control, in a climatic scene...
I think it started in 1963 with "Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World ",then that format was used till 1985.
I haven't seen this movie in ages thank you
Congratulations for this movie, it's amazing. 🇪🇸✌️👍
THIS IS AN AWESOME FILM. 😃👍.
Honored to be involved. Thanks Ron. Lupe
Wow what a Ride!! I give this Movie a Big 10 !!!!
I just love it. Stock western audio with bullet sounds when the cars r blowing up lol
Also loved . 1976 Eat My Dust, involving Ron Howard stealing Mable, a 68 Camaro.
Hehehe! I remember watching this as an 8th grader. Funny movie!
This movie was filmed in Redondo Beach California, the last scenes is on 190th going east on 190th me along with my family were standing about 3/4 of the way up the hill, when they're going down the hill on the right side there is a open area that is a dog park and baseball diamond it was pretty cool when we were all standing there watching this and then we went to the movies when it came out and saw it and it was in our area at the corner of 190th and PCH there is a car dealership that they use, it's pretty funny to watch a movie that is filmed in your hometown and you know everything and everywhere they're going
Ron Howard born in 1954 is 4 years older than I
I graduated Nampa High School in 1977
46 years later, Vegas in 2023 is different, no dial telephones, no Freemont Street, no internet
No Sands, no Sinatra...
Roger Corman drove Ron crazy - fewer cars, smaller crowds, longer days, cheaper effects but the master of shlock was cheap cheap cheap and taught Ron to make the most of what he had. The list of those who were trained by Corman cheapo films is astonishing... from Martin Scorcese to Jack Nicholson.
Not A Bad Movie! Not Bad At All....I loved it!😎🤣👍
*Not a bad movie! Not bad at all.... I love it! -- There, fixed it for you.
1:22:36 Paula asks "Where do you think we'll be on our 50th wedding anniversary?"
As of right now that's in four years' time!
GTA. Wow. Thought it was a game. Never knew it was a movie. Happy new year people. Hope its stays the same. Lol.
i love old movies 😍🥰
Here's a Fun Fact.
They were going to plan a Remake Screenplay back in 2008 but Got cancelled due to the Production Team got confused thinking that it's going to be a Film Adaptation of "Grand Theft Auto" Game Series with the Name name as this one. And the guy who Produced This 1977 Movie was going to sue Rockstar Games for the Series But Rockstar gave him Money so They Kept the name "Grand Theft Auto" Even though the Name is based off a Criminal Record.
Got to love that flute
I never saw this movies as I was 15 when it came out, too young to drive myself to the drive-in movie theater. If my older brothers saw it, they would have been on a date and wouldn't want their younger brother hanging around.
Love the drunk in the back of the Jeep 👍🍺🍺🍺
1:14:54 Some of the Crowd are cheering at the Protagonists Sam and Paula by letting them out and booing at the Antagonists Bigby, Priscilla, Slinker, Collins and The Preacher by blocking them until the Police will arrest the Antagonists who are trying to chase the Protagonists.
Good movie.
wow, even the radio dj is that reporter from Death race 2000!, good casting.
well it's Roger Corman production that's why
Fun Movie!!!
very good movie one of Ron Howard's products
after 20 years we got first grand theft auto video game
Mighta seen this when I was eleven at the theater...seen it sometime
can't believe i've never heard of this movie.
i miss the '70s so much!! everything was better, today just violence, watching movies is only bullets flying ...it's a shame, it will be worst unfortunately
I remember this film I was only 12 when it happened
1:14:04 It’s sad the Rolls got destroyed , although it can always be replaced for something nicer ; But the Ice cream truck , That’s a different story all those ice cream sandwiches going to waste 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What’s the song that plays when he takes off in the yellow porsche?
It's part of the film's score, and does not have a "name" per se.
This s explains a lot
Wow. Just found out about this film on reddit...
Please accept my apologies I just looked at the name of the movie and the movie I'm talking about that was filmed in Redondo Beach Was Gone in 60 Seconds
58:55 Yes it was. She specifically asked him his opinion, and he agreed with her.
Cheesy but still entertaining 👍
A low budget "Graduate" written by an eighth grader.
Make Open Matte 1.85:1 for Grand Theft Auto 1977 Movie
My dad recorded this for me on VHS from KTLA in the late 80s/ early 90s, told me I'd love it - he was right! Collins Hedgeworth and The Preacher are worth it. Also, Marion Ross looked damn good as Mrs. Hedgeworth, even if that spoiled wench was a wackjob. 🤷♂️
Wish i still had my X1/9. 🥺
their 50th anniversary is in 4 years lol
i didnt know clint howard was rons brother
They have a autobiography titled "The Boys" You will learn a lot. That audio book brought me here.
If you leave your lights on, your car will get a dead battery... and then it won't start...! Oh well, borrow the VeeDub Bug instead...!! 😁👍
O.M.G. what mess but i liked it
Good thing they have a MOBILE TELEPHONE
Environmental Research Major = California Tree Hugger
Well there is something more boomer than get off my lawn!
Get out of my mansion!
53:23 Trevor chasing
Poor rolls...🥺😔😭
Who is the leading lady? She reminds me of Sybil Shepard.
Nancy Morgan
@@laustcawz2089 She was married to the late John Ritter in real life at the time.
Grand Theft Auto mayhem!
I hope that wasn't a real type 35 Bugatti they all but ruined in this movie .
Don't worry, it was only a VW Beetle with a silly body!
Can anyone spot the filming mistake??
Grand Theft Auto 6 the movie

The cars with the technology of tesla are most convinced for me because in case they try to steal mine it has a Pin so that it can be better but in this time they didn't existed this technology
Не фильм, а геноцид автомобилей.
So bad.... it is good.
this movie is good and bad , i dont know why
I had forgotten just how lame this movie was, like you can toss dynamite way ahead of the car, what a joke.
I love these movies from the 70's
Thank you for uploading this gem, first time I have seen it. How could I have missed this one for so many years?
70s movies are so great. The music is lighter and the scenes are delightful not to mention clean dialoug
Cindy A 70s films had profanity alot of the time.
They had big gas tanks back in the 70s
@@kimiisungstartedthekoreanw2771 Ever watch The Last Detail?
If I remember correctly, I first saw this film in the summer of 1978 as a CBS Friday night late movie. One long car chase with lots of crashes. Perfect for a 13 year old to stay up late and watch during summer vacation.
Bugbee.......I turned 14 mid 78 and I had to smile at your comment, I can totally relate. Great times :)
that sounds awesome.
I was eight years old I’m so glad to be a child of the 70s
