Cabinetryinstallation.
I always have a roll of masking tape when I’m scribing dark material. Especially when the lighting is crap and you can’t see the pencil lines/marks. Nice video. Nice material for the cabinets too.
Good video….like the clamping ideas. I have a lot of festool tools and equipment, and I use it all everyday. It’s a lot of set up, reconfiguring to do the various different tasks though. Sometimes I’ve wondered if it’s all much different than the Shopsmith equipment……? The Shopsmith equipment constantly had to be reset and reconfigured to go from drill press, table saw, band saw etc……just a thought.
Man, these guys are good. Well equipped too...
HI I have a question, how do you secure the track so that it doesnt move during the cut?
I only use fastcaps when there is no way of hiding the screw. In this situation I would hide the screw under the hinge plates- cleaner install. Hate seeing randomly placed screws inside a cabinet. I treat it like furniture.
Aaaack! For some time, I kept thinking why doesn't someone make woodworking videos using a GoPro-type helmet or body cam? Well, now I know. It's so much rapid movement, it's making me sick -- literally SICK at my stomach -- to watch, which is terrible because the content of Martin's video is both very good and useful. Perhaps the solution might be a mini "Steady-Cam" gyro-stablizer-type mount for the GoPro camera to limit the bouncing and rapid shifting up and down and from side to side?
I never have to cut straight cuts when I scribe. It would be great if the walls were often straight but it's rare. Great clamping idea though.

Another helpful hint would be to have a stop cleat screwd to the side of the cabinet. That way you can just slam it in there and screw it off after you have expertly scribed it.

Regardless of the track having a chip guard I would still do a scoring cut, if I was going to scribe it like that.

Those big filler like those I would screw some temporary blocks to the side of the cabinet to help hold it in place as I mark my scribe on masking tape with a .5mm black pen. I also like to clamp a block on the bottom of a full height cabinet so the filler can sit on it while I scribe. I then jigsaw and belt sand. There's a million ways to do it. Everyone thinks the way they do it is best and I'm no different. :-)
I wish someone would bring out a banana saw for some of the walls I’ve had to scribe to over the years. 😂👍🏻
Great video...!!! In 8:57 where did you get your custom MF3 larger table..?
If you check in my RUclips Chanel I have another video of how I custom a mft3. I got extra rails. U can order the extra rails at any festool dealer Pls watch it. I hope it helps you.
seems like a lot of work to setup. Scribe, back bevel plane, sand perfect
Around 8:53 you mention you have a custom MFT that is 30" longer. Was this a limited run of this size cause I don't see it on FestoolUSA.com
Thanks
Hi, Do you back bevel the scribe cut?
I've done that lately and works better.
Don't you have to clamp the track to the work piece, the filler, in this case?
Not really. But it's better when u can clamp it down. In this case my piece it's so small that I can't.
nice one great video. thks for sharing
Thx Nathan thx for watching that video
that is not scribing that is cutting. but well done
Fix behind the hinges so it covers the screw heads don’t use them shit caps. All about the detail. Good video 👍
Surprised u didn’t start cabinet run from that side
We use fillers all the time cause the walls are never perfect.
Martin Chavarria I get that ... what I’m saying is that scribing the first cabinet as you place it might be a bit easier...
Not really. Sometimes the other cabinets twist a little bit depending of how bad the wall is (increasing the gap ). That’s the main reason of why we left the fillers until the end.
Where did you get your long mft table?
Homer Corley I ordered the aluminum sides and I made it longer
Thanks Martin!
Does Festool have longer tops as well?
This is not scribing, friend. This is cutting an angle..
It would save time if you didn't connect the tables with the bars, and also this isnt really scribing its just a straight cut
great idea thanks for sharing
Thx for watching
