ION - Route 301: Conestoga (Bombardier Flexity Freedom 511)

  • This video covers my ride from University of Waterloo to Conestoga.
    511 is part of a 14 LRV (Light Rail Vehicle) order placed in 2013 by the Region of Waterloo to supplement the fleet for the first phase of ION light rail transit. Like many other units in its batch, 511 had to be sent back to Bombardier for rewelding due to welding defects found in its frames at some point in 2021.
    This ride was recorded on February 8, 2024 on an iPhone 15 Pro.

      That's because the Freedom and Outlook are of a similar design! I do believe that the seating arrangements differ slightly amongst the Outlook and other Freedom units (i.e. Line 5, ION, ETS) in Canada though, but the seat design themselves are the same besides padding choice yes.
